Use a wire wheel next time. It won't grind or sand away any base material but it will get the adhesive very well.

I got a oval 8in sub from a 2016 wrangler, how would 8 go about rebuilding that? Its a 8.4in alpine oval subwoofer, can i reuse the cone and stuff and wind a new coil?

It would be the same process. You would have to get the parts direct from Alpine though.

Great video. Only question I have is what if I have to reuse the cone and surround but replace the voice coil. Is there a different process to figure out what voice coil is needed when the sub doesn't have a ready-kit available? Thanks for all information.

So I have a nemesis, fierce 15 and it has a tear in the surround not a terrible one but should I repair it or should I try to just recone it? Not sure if I can use a different cone kit for it like does the branding matter? I have no clue where to start and I can’t really find anything on it

E6000 would be my first choice if you just have a surround tear. No need to recone for a surround tear

kill all that wasted time with gridning and use a 1400 watt heat gun whole thing comes out in about 2 minutes i do it alot
