Laser Etched Backlit Mirror (feat. The Sanderson Sisters)

- Today I’ll show how I used a bit of Hocus Pocus to laser engrave a photo of the Sanderson sisters onto the back of a mirror using my Thunder Laser Nova 35-80 and the HR Lens. Making the project “pop” is a custom-built light-box to illuminate the photo from behind! A black flame candle would also work, but not recommended.

It turned our amazing
Thank you! :)
Pretty cool
Thanks! Glad you like it! 😊
I've made arcade marquee lightboxes for about 10 years now. Here's a tip, paint the inside of the boxes gloss white, it'll give the leds a better glow and require way less of them. I love the results here, gonna try this!
Good call! Thanks Jacob!
Co2 or diode laser?
Nice video!
Glad you enjoyed it!! 🥰
Loved your video!! I’ve been having the same problem with the Lonsas mirrors! How did you get the backing off without scratching the coating please? 🙏
Hey there! Glad you like the video! Getting the backing off was pretty easy if I recall! It was just a thin PVC film and so a sharp fingernail carefully working the corner seemed to do it for me! Good luck! 😊
👍👍👍
Glad you like! Thanks!
use a clean glas print the pick on one side and paint the other side spraycan. and you get same effect as a mirror. and bedst part you can use dif collors to. try that out.
Thanks Chris! Yeah I want to try painted glass at some point too! Maybe even with "mirror" spray paint. 😊
@@FarbulousCreations graving in mirrow do from behind not front. and yw
How is it with the LEDs in the box? doesn't it get too hot eventually? LEDs don't yield much heat, but inside the box might be bad
Hey David! I never noticed any issues with heat buildup, but this also isn't on when we're not in the room for what it's worth. When I was working with the LEDs I never noticed them even being slightly warm in my hands so I think since they're not all condensed in one spot like with an LED light bulb it's probably fine. Cheers!
@@FarbulousCreations great
thanks for the reply
Can you cross hatch?
Like as a separate thing, or do you mean in the laser etching?
Why you didnt tried test pattern.
That was the frustrating thing... I did! Multiple tests. But the "problem" only revealed itself randomly in the middle of the etch. 😭
That turned out very nice, I have ac10 watt Longer Ray an I am very pleased with it. I have using mirrors from Lowe’s home improvement 12 X 12 6 pack for $14.99 no plastic backing they seem to be very uniform in reflective material.😀🛫
Ooh good call! I'll have to check out those Lowe's mirrors! Thanks for the tip!
