  • This is a complete video from start finish from the original photo with the photo editing process included. All the setup and settings are here to help you engrave a photo on glass this easily. The image editor colors are different on the video so you will need to make yours darker than it appears. You can see the results for yourself.
    More information and details about backer materials are on my website.

    congratulations for the really exhaustive video, I still don't have a laser engraver in my hands, I bought a 20w sculpfun s30pro max but it still hasn't arrived, I take this opportunity to try to understand how this fantastic world of engraving works, I one wonders how long these engravings last with dish soap and, if possible, use the same method to engrave the transparent plexiglass ?

    Wow, great video. I'm a boudoir photographer and have been interested in offering portraits etched in glass. This seems to work very well and I'm interested in this process for sure. I believe you own the 10W system but wondered your thoughts on the 20W version - needed or not? Also are you using air assist or see the need for air assist? Thanks in advance for your advice.

    • @viperdesigned
      @viperdesigned  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi Wilson.. Thank you for the comments and interest trying it out. Air assist is useless on this process. The etching happens on the bottom side of the glass between it and the backer material. It's interesting to watch it happen.. Blowing air on it won't do anything but make the glass colder and increase the risk of shattering it. All materials have their limits and it doesn't matter how much wattage you throw at it. 10w does just fine and there is no advantage voltage wish to going with the 20w. There may be other features that might be useful depending on the amount of work you plan on doing with it...

    • @viperdesigned
      @viperdesigned  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thank you! I have a couple different 'We the People' pieces posted. The boots one is my favorite. I use LightBurn, but you can use the free LaserBox. You get what you pay for is all I'm going to say :) You will need to do more photo editing on your own before opening them in LaserBox. It doesn't have much for image editing options compared to LightBurn.
      Have you seen the lit version of the 'We the People' with the boots? Glass needed to be cleaned better, but still looks good. viperdesigned.com/WTP-Boots-Lit.jpg

    Great video a little long but that said is still good. You show how to do it engraving the back side, how would you do it on the front side without actually etching the back side to. Hope you understand what im trying to say.

    • @viperdesigned
      @viperdesigned  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the comments. I think,,, lol I like to bore people to death.. lol You can use masking vinyl or acrylic paint to coat to the front and just engrave the front side. It takes a little more work and you loose the ability to do some detailed pieces with shading. Does great with logos and things like that that are a single color. There are tons of videos out there on that.

      Do you have to edit image to black and white then make it a negative before using the image in light burn

  • @SlowPCGaming1
    @SlowPCGaming1 6 หลายเดือนก่อน

    About half way up the image the laser shifted over several pixels to cause a visible broken line effect in how her face and hair align. Or was the jib bumped at some point during the burn causing the shift in material?

    • @viperdesigned
      @viperdesigned  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I'm not exactly sure what happened but I probably bumped the table or unit and didn't notice it at first. I was living dangerous doing the video and didn't have the laser or table mounted. Haven't seen that happen in any other projects.

    Is there a difference to watch for in settings, between the D1 and D1 pro?

    • @viperdesigned
      @viperdesigned  ปีที่แล้ว

      The D1 is only 10w so that would make a difference if you have the 20w Pro. 10w Pro should use the same settings. Haven't done any with a 20w yet so not sure how much difference there will be. I'm sure it will take some adjustment in the settings. Winter is coming and I'll have more indoor time. Playing with a 20w is on the plan..

    Did you use 3 in 1 oil on the glass?

    • @viperdesigned
      @viperdesigned  ปีที่แล้ว

      I do the smaller ones(5x7) dry without anything on the glass at all. The latest info is on this webpage. vipervisuals.net/laser/glassonthefly.html I prefer using a thin layer of dish soap when I do larger images or ones with a lot of heavy engraving.

      Thats one reason I don't edit the videos. You see it just like I did it. 80mms works out great for me. What DPI/Lines are you using? 90/100 lines is all I use on glass.
