I love my 14! The original turbo did give up the ghost just under 100k miles but has been updated/upgraded to the 17+ style turbo and HPFP. It's a monster of a truck.
@8020 Media 185k miles currently and it has been awesome, just did the HSM fuel filter upgrade, upper and lower. Piping kit is in the works then a bigger turbo, currently making 566 rear wheel horse but chasing around 800
2012 f550 bought in 2019 with 25k kms. Now has 111k kms has been deleted and straight piped. On its third turbo. Ric Flair WOOOOOOOOO. my ford dealer has done warranty and all of them. So costed nothing. Has a dump box on it
Mike - few options here: 1. Get a good upgraded lift pump, change the fuel filter frequently, and run a lubricity additive like Stanadyne 2. S&S diesel sells a prevention kit that prevents the injectors and everything else from being destroyed if the CP4.2 fails: www.ssdiesel.com/product/ford-6-7-cp4-2-bypass-kit-2011/ - I still recommend steps in part 1 above. Doesn't really prevent the pump from failure just makes it less costly to fix everything if the pump doesn't fail since it keeps injectors, etc. safe 3. You can do a CP3 conversion but this costs like $3k+
Hey there, I have a 2012, 6.7 completely deleted with an intake if I change the fuel filter on a very regular basis will say with every oil change would this be enough to prevent the Bosch pump from giving out or what I need to do more. Please let me know what I would need to do if so.
Okay. Diesel fuel quality is huge when it comes to these engines, so make sure you are getting your fuel from a reputable gas station. Also, there are fuel additives that can be used, here's an article that can be useful for that: bapasonline.com/best-diesel-fuel-additive-for-the-ford-powerstroke-6-7l/. Lastly, you COULD do a CP3 swap. We've seen many benefits from this. Other than that, it sounds like you are doing everything right! Keep us updated on this.
I'm considering buying a 2015 f250 6.7L with about 95kmiles. I don't know really anything about trucks. Can anyone help me with like the pros and cons and/or what to look for or be carefull of when checking out the truck? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I've been trying to my research and scan reviews. I'm trying to get all the info I can so I don't end up in the situation I'm in with the 07' 6.0L I bought 2yrs ago (money pit)

M - That's a lot of miles, but make sure to check the maintenance records. Buying a vehicle with high mileage it is crucial to know that they have been maintained well. Other than that, you'll want to check out the things listed in this video.
200k miles is not a lot of miles… I’ve owned several 6.7s with over 450k miles on them. It’s all about how well they’ve been maintained. Don’t let this dude scare you off about a truck that’s had a life other than sitting in a garage…
Christian - Although 200k miles may not be a lot to the 6.7 PS, that is still a lot of miles in the grand scheme. Not once did we say it was "too many" miles. In general, if maintained properly, yes, these can make it way past 200k.
I’ve never seen any cp4s go out in the 8 years I’ve been driving them and these trucks get worked hard and treated like shit. Not sayin it can’t or won’t happen, I just think it’s over hyped
Burning - This is an option that is actually pretty popular with 6.7's. However, there are a few things to take into consideration: Cost, warranty, tuning, fueling, and emissions.
My "2 cents": with proper lubricant added to fuel (if "Top Tier" fuel is not used) and fuel filters are purged correctly when replaced, the Cp4 is a great fuel pump.

Gotta change the injectors too for changed them in 15

Thanks for the info. I'm looking to add one to my garage soon.

I put the S&S DCR pump conversion on mine and got rid of the CP4 forever.

Did you have a shop do it ? How much was it in total ?

Would you just replace the fuel pump every 100,000 miles? Whats the prevention?
