    I think that pen is beautiful. Everyone has their own taste

    I have the same 1911L with the H-M nib, but in black. It NEVER fails to perform properly. Whatever it may lack due to boring aesthetics, it makes up for with steadfast dependability. I appreciated your "second thoughts".

    I got my first Sailor 1911L three months ago. I now own three! Fine, Medium, and Broad. 🙂 I did comparisons in feel between several of my pens including the 1911L, Pilot 823, Lamy 2000, Waterman Carène, Platinum 3776, and Pelikan M200. The 1911L was the most comfortable and best “feel” in the nib of all of them. It’s not quite as smooth as the Pilot 823, but the overall experience is better - for me. It’s a fantastic pen.

    “dynamite smooth” 😂 Always enjoy your personality & humour. Where’s the cat? I want a cat review 😉👍🏻

    I always prefer silver shaded trim ( as well as the darkened color sailor used on the 4 am) I find I seem to be in a minority, so glad to hear of another who likes.

    I bought my first sailor. Denpite not broken in yet it's, it's crystalline perfection. I can't afford another but they are a great pen.

    Ooohhh I love gold and white combination!! I've been collecting gold/white fountain pens. It just looks simple yet elegant. It looks so heavenly to me.

    I'm with Sheila Graber - it's a beautiful pen, I love the gold and white. I would also enjoy a silver and white pen. It's not a pen I would buy, but it is a beautiful pen. Thank you for your review!

    I have a 1911 Large, a Realo, and a 1911 Standard and they all have a wee bit of feedback that is part of their charm. I prefer the size of my KOP as the large is a bit of a misnomer compared to the size of average pens. the hard designation may be related to the metal alloys added to the gold of the nibs.

    I just got my first Sailor! It’s a pro gear slim but the sailor 1911 large is on my list! It looks phenomenal

    Sailor 1911 pens are outstanding. I had one with a zoom nib. I would like to add a Sailor medium nib to my collection. Thanks for the video and reviewing!

    The hard designation distinguishes Sailor's smaller 14K and 21K nibs on their models versus some of their other designs, such as the King of Pen nibs, which do not have the hard designation. The King of Pen nibs are *very* bouncy and soft in comparison.

    Interesting critique, Kerry. I have a 1911S (standard) demonstrator. As you said, the performance is wonderful, but I very rarely ink it up. It's too small for me which I find very odd since I also own, keep inked up, and find very comfortable, an Ensso XL Minimalist which defines the word "tiny." I also like (or rather: liked, in the past tense) my Kaweco AL Sport which is small. It is rarely inked up not because of its size (I like that part) but because my other pens' nibs are so much better. The Ensso doesn't dry out like my Kaweco either. I wish I better understood why I don't favor the 1911S!!

    The 1911L is one of the finest pen made this day. The 1911S is also a very nice pen. They write superbly. The 1911L has one of the best nibs.
    Too bad you can't get over the look of the pen 😁

    I've grown to like the Pro Gear better too. I like that the ends can have a different color more easily than the 1911. I think I would like the 1911 more if the ends were more blunt and rounded.

    You lost me with silver trim. To me, silver looks too much like cheap chrome, and definitely does not go with a gold nib. Other than this, I agree with everything you say.
    Now, many places, such as Goulet, charge double what this pen can be had for on Amazon, so buyer beware. The Amazon pens are fulfilled by Amazon, and they will correct any problems, so thing makes a Japanese seller far, far less of a gamble where repairs or replacements are concerned.
    I really like Goulet, but not enough to pay double for a pen. A little more than double, actually.

    For a small asian guy like me whose hands are small enough to use a kaweco sport unposted quite comfortably, that pen is LARGE 😁😁😁

    Did you ever sell this pen? Also, can you speak to the difference between the 14k nib and 21k nib?

    Just ordered the Sailor 1911L Wicked Witch of the West with a medium nib. It'll be my first Sailor pen. I also prefer the Pro Gear flat top over the 1911 but the Wicked Witch looks awesome

      Just ordered that same pen yesterday with a zoom nib! I am not drawn to Sailor 1911 pens, but that colorway captivated me. Excited about getting it!

      I got the 1911L pen of the year 2021. What do you think about that color? I think the red and sparkle looks beautiful.

  • @maximilianschwab9668

    Of course, the Japanese pens are smaller than westerners, most of the people there are smaller, ergo their hands are smaller, the same is to say about shoes and clothing.
    The reason for finer nibs is also evident, they do not "write cursive" they "build" kanjis.
    I have two Sailor Pens a Pro Gear standard and a Pro Gear King of Pens, both are phenomenal!

    I think it's Hard Medium as opposed to Soft Medium

    Hey Kerry, you should do the “shoot out” between the Pilot 823 and the Sailor Realo. I’d love to see the comparison.

  • @ExiledExia
    @ExiledExia 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    They write HF because companies like Sailor make a soft and hard version of their nibs. Hard just means it's a bit stiffer than a normal medium. Would have a soft medium than the nib would be softer, allowing for more flex.

    Pens are like sports cars... they can be beautiful and perform very poorly, or they can perform outstanding and be butt ugly... it is rare to find form and function in perfect balance as each taste is subjective

      I have been looking for a modern pen that writes and looks good, with writing being the primary.
      There is no pen I want to buy as none can beat my 912FA (after modification).
      It looks so freakishly boring though, I want to have a Stresemann but they only offer a nail in f-bb

    I have 1911 l Black Lustre in H-EF and it 1) isnt hard; I read that the coated nibs are softer but I never had a regular 1911 so I cant compare it and 2) I cant tell if its just plain scratchy or has an insane amount of feedback and you can literally use it only on special fountain pen paper without cringing. 6/7 days a week would NOT buy again. Cant recommend. Never skiped or hard started tho.

    The prices on sailors are insane to be honest, for a plastic pen of boring design.

    • @Cortesevasive
      @Cortesevasive 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      ever heard of montblanc lol. sailor nibs are opposite of boring though.

    • @mikeyhill6224
      @mikeyhill6224 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Not boring for me, aesthetics is subjective. Besides their nibs are fantastic. I can't find a fault in how sailor pens write.
