That's not Visconti turning a corner on QC, that's just you getting lucky. For a pen that costs north of $700, it should write perfectly out of the box each and every time.😜

Got my Pilot C74 lying around the desk for a year or so, given the nib has: 1. assymetrical cut at the tipping point, and 2. grand canyon slit, all right from the factory. Would tolerate and fix them all myself if it's a 30 Dollar pen, but this boy costed me 100 Dollars and a 10 Dollar 9019 Jinhao writes better out of the box wth. Had hard starts with C 3776, baby bottom on Vanishing point and E95S. The rest do well luckily, just meh writing. I technically still agree to the fact that Japanese pens are mainly designed to function well. But if that's the case, Chinese pens have been much more competitive in that regard.
Everyone seems to be in love with Gravitas, except me. Last year I purchased a ‘Quark’ ultem pocket pen. It leaks like a sunken ship from the nib unit and Mr Walsh has been unresponsive to my inquiries about repair or replacement. The pen is unusable in its current condition. When it writes it seems ok, and I like the design, but I tire of getting ink all over the place when not in use.
Algorithm. I thought you were going to tell that you were comparing several of your nicest pens’ length, kicked the camera, grabbed for it and dropped all the pens on their nibs on a flagstone floor. Or even one pen.
My children gave me a full sized Gravitas pen for Christmas with a fine flex nib. It I s a joy to use. Based on this video I'm inclined to try one of the pocket pens. My only hesitation is that the Gravitas custoner service is completely non-existent.
I would wait at least a year to see how this partnership with Pen Venture plays out. I was a huge Gravitas fan until I got pretty screwed with an expensive and very iffy pen and Ben ghosted me. I can't in good conscience sell the pen I waited so long for, and that I was so excited to receive. Once burned, forever shy.
The skittle pens are aluminum, and aluminum corrodes rapidly when it is directly exposed to ink. A lot of materials are fine when exposed to water, but corrode very quickly if directly in contact with ink, either holding the ink directly or being submerged. It only takes a few hours to really start doing some damage. In aluminum, once the process is started, it is very hard to reverse or stop. I have run into problems and have handled many pens with these problems, so I avoid pens with aluminum grip sections and any other part that is exposed to ink regularly. Caps are usually protected from ink by the inner cap

A cop pulled over and told me to get out of the sun. I said, "why"? He said, "because of the heat wave, man". I said, "what heat wave"? He said, "where are you from"? I said, "Texas". He said, "shit", and told the cop that was driving, "let's get out of here". LMAO! Felt like a spring day to me... Algorithm.

Like... putting a pen full of red ink into a hot car, having the ink spray everywhere, getting the car impounded and crushed with all your best fountain pens in your favorite travel bag inside when someone thought that was a crime scene... well, I have quite a castastrophe-capable brain. Been in a similar situation, picked up empty pens and stuff for a business trip but got the wrong converter since I didn't want to fly with filled pens. Oh, yes. Almost forgot "Algorithm" 😉
It's crazy to realize that you're further south than I am, even though I live in the continental US! (North Dakota) I understand the air conditioning. I tried to be tough when I bought this house. But, after two summers, I weakened. It just gets so brutally hot. And, yes, the outside temperature cools off at night, but it takes too long for the inside of the house to cool off, even with a giant window fan. And I never had to be concerned about an animal that gets no choice or control over temperature. I'm glad your fountain pen mistake wasn't something tragic or permanent.
I am not a fan of gravitas' customer service. I have an order that was supposed to be shipped to me 10 weeks ago, and I have yet to get a reasonable response from Gravitas. I will shortly dispute the charge, and see if Gravitas responds to that,
@Calcprof There was an announcement earlier this week, that penventure will be combining with Gravitas to take over all fulfillment and customer service, even through the Gravitas website. Ben has recognised these are not his strong points and will concentrate solely on design going forward. This may be a little late to provide comfort to you for your order but I have experienced both companies service and certainly confirm Penventure service is excellent!

Biggest mistake I've made was buying an Omas 360 Burkina - it's still the most beautiful pen I own by a long shot but the writing experience is wildly disappointing and the actual manufacturing quality of the pen is lacking. It did stop me from buying more expensive pens so that is a win.

Algorithm I can't imagine that forgetting a cartridge or converter is the worst mistake. Dropping an uncapped pen and damaging a nib would be worse, especially if it was a grail pen. Just found out not to put pens in a rolling carts or luggage with ink in it. Bouncing up and down steps cause my pen to leak into the cap. This pen has never leaked before. I was taking it to art class full or Platinum Carbon Black first noticed ink around the grip. So black fingers. But the last trip was the kicker. I ruined a drawing because of the ink in the cap, and had black around my nail for days. So no more fountain pens in luggage because they don't take well to bouncing up and down stairs. Just too must jostling. Lesson learned.

I think you need to be a little more detailed about the pens, features, specs, or at least about this pen, and what it's made of. Is the pen actually made of Titanium or Stainless Steel?? If it is, I wouldn't worry about eyedroppering it. If it's Aluminum, you could eyedropper it for the review then clean it out. Yeah I saw that video from Pen Venture with Emy & Ben Walsh. From it, it sounded like they still have a ways to go so they will need a bit more time before everything smooths out.

I pretty much only use Japanese pens these days, as they seem to be designed with the intention of actually being used to write.

They announced recently that they are forming a partnership with Pen-Venture, where they will handle all the logistics and customer service.

I wouldn't have been afraid to eye-dropper the metal pen long enough to conduct a review. You could thoroughly rinse it afterward without any harm.

Why not take a cartridge/converter out of one of the other pens you had with you?
But you can eye dropper the pen. The only thing stopping you is maybe a bit of grease to seal the threads.
