I used to spend the school holidays with the ‘Grands’ at Lyall Bay. Lots of plane spotting back in the 60’s - 70’s. Used to watch Viscounts, Friendships, Bristol Freighters, Argosy’s, DC 8’s, early 737’s ( giving away my age here)😁
A little over 110 years ago, my grandparents became tired of my petite grandmother in the voluminous dresses of the day being blown off her feet in Wellington. So they packed their bags and made the short voyage to Sydney where they had stopped on their way from the UK five years earlier.
@WLGLIVE I have visited Wellington once. It was the inaugural ANZ 767 service, which says it was long ago. The weather was perfect for our arrival , dead calm overnight and a smooth departure to Auckland.next day. Do not think I would have kept my breakfast down had it been like the video.
yes that was quite a day i was driving along cobham drive by the airport when the sounds air cessna caravan took off and we were going faster than he was. That plane could hardly make it to 70kph until it got over 500 feet.
Oh no! This could make landing boring! "Turbulence in airplanes could become a thing of the past with FALCON, a new AI system that helps vehicles learn how to adjust to turbulence within a matter of minutes."
It's one thing to be sitting in front of our computers going -- WOW, isn't that great. Look at that plane going sideways WooHoo. It's somethng else for those on board who are shitting themselves and saying their Hale Merries. Why do they always seem to build airports on the coast in exposed areas? I know there's no flat land around Wellie anyway. Why build a friggin city there in the first place?
@@WLGLIVE I know that those on board would be shitting themselves cuz I had a flight into Nelson a few yrs ago. We aborted and came back to Wellie. You can keep it, I'll keep the Waikato.
Wellington is such a special place I love it ❤
Great show. Sorry I missed it live.
