    Great tutorial! I especially like how you don't hide your mistakes and instead show how to fix them. Surprising how much of the hobby is just that - "fixing" little mistakes.

    I've been building models and figures for years (as in 30+). I've read books, watched videos, and chatted at the hobby shop. This is WITHOUT A DOUBT the ABSOLUTE best video about painting faces EVER!!! With Snowmageddon coming today I'm going to try these out on some figures for my Shadows of Brimstone game. Thank you so much for this video! (Oh yeah, production value was awesome too)

    I've never even attempted to try eyes before because my belief in being able to do so has been zero and all i've ever done is just flesh washed the face. BUT I've just tried what you show here on my Blackstone Fortress Explorers and your teaching and ideas are absolutely blowing me away.
    I even found that if I cut in too much on one eye, as long as I cut the other one in the same, they look great, obviously not brilliant, but I feel so much more confident in continuing along this track now. Also whilst improving the look of the eyes, it occurred to me that each explorer has different shaped eyes which makes the learning process so much more easier than let's say, painting the eyes of a two hundred army force.
    Your teachings really are fantastic,
    Kind regards and mega thanks,
    Terry

    Nice eye painting method and tips, will give that a go. I had not thought of starting with a black, I usually do the eye at the same stage, then use ink to get the dark edge. I've been painting for 30 years and still learning.

    Totally awesome !! Best fascial I've ever seen but your's was only the 3rd vid I've watched.
    I'm going to try some on my 1:76 or 1:87 model people on my railway layout. They don't seem to have anything like the level of definition that yours did. One vid suggested priming in white as this may show up moulding lines better on less defined faces. What would your suggestion be ? Also I couldn't make out the name of the oil you used. I have a steady hand for a 61 year old and you have inspired me to give it a go. It just looks fantastic what you did. Maybe I should practice on a larger scale first ? Thanks Rick

    God damn I don't know how you make it all look so clean. As soon as i put that wash on, no matter how careful I am to take care of any pools outside of the recesses, it comes out looking like a mottled, blotchy mess.

I couldn't make out what the name of the oil you used was. My hearing is slightly impaired but my dexterity in my fingers is okay !! Don't expect to be brilliant straight off but you have inspired me to have a go. Thanks a bundle, Rick

    @socalastarte6727 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great tutorial. I really enjoy your videos and how you really explain the step by step process and don't gloss over any of the steps. I disagree with your take on the eyes. Most people that attempt to paint eyes dismally fail. I've seen decent painters (me included) with really good looking painted models with googly eyes. The eyes are so small, it's really hard to cleanly get the brush into the space without messing up over and over again. Most people don't have hands that steady. Miniature painting is time consuming enough, I'm not trying to add another 30 minutes per model to get eyes that you can't even see unless you put the model right in front of your eyes. Painting eyes on models wearing helmets is much easier and takes about 5-10 minutes max. If you're competing for a golden daemon or other award, then by all means paint the eyes. Everyone else, move on to the next model or you're never going to get your army on the table.
