Yes. Doing in-depth tutorials on different materials/part are a life saver. instead of trying to find certain aspects of a long video and then having to replay that over and over while painting.
It's such an amazing thing to have such an array of "tutorials" to pick from. You can get something like " how to paint faces " by Jon, which is something that hits a wide range of use. Then you got Vincy V. with a tutorial on how to paint the big toenail on a Spacewolf's right foot during a Bloodmoon. Thanks for yet another amazing video with a lot to learn
Definitely prefer these videos, because these are the ones that will actually make me paint better- as opposed to other painting videos where you just watch someone paint with zero direction on how to replicate the end goal.
I enjoy video that highlight ways to possibly conserve time in painting. The 30 minute face is the "best bang for your buck" so to speak. And pointing that out points at the best way to utilize my time painting, especially when army painting and not display or competition painting.
Definitely would like more in-depth painting videos. Gear reviews and such a good filler, but videos like this and especially your diorama themed videos are what really keeps me coming back to watch 🤙
I guess having time limits is like figure drawing, you're going to focus on the important gestures when the clock is ticking, and sometimes having more time gives worse result because you relax and slow down... until the timer hits zero and you're only half way done.
These kind of videos are my absolute favorites of yours. I love hearing your thoughts and seeing your process on painting something, it really helps me to think through the painting decisions I make when I am working on something similar.
I have been just worrying about painting the faces on a couple of models I really like. This video has really helped me better shape a plan in my head. Thanks!!!
A fun video! If I could offer one suggestion; I'd have a section of the 3 heads, in their finished state, at the very beginning of the video and ask the audience to choose A, B or C on which is which. Then proceed with the painting steps / instruction. This way your audience is then vested into seeing if they were right. You might get a few more people watching until the end that way.
I haven't painted a face in over a year, and watching this video has me pumped to challenge myself with a few over the weekend! I'd love to see more videos like this -- maybe even more face vids diving into different skin tones and female faces.
Id like more content like this Ninjon. Painting the eyes for table top is a personal choice, thank you for saying so. Maybe cover techniques to define the eyes, without painting the whites, iris, lens.... Also, as an aircraft mechanic, i see loads of different coloes of bare metal. I try to emulate that on my figures. But many folks have never seen a naked jet engine. Maybe show how to paint different colors of metal that isnt "lead belcher/nuln oil"....i wouldn't have said anything, but you asked. 👍❤️
Yes, definitely more of these kinds of videos. I’m excited to try this out and I never thought of using such a range of colours to get the final result.
I think your right there is a minimal difference between 30 and 60 min version. I'm not a competitive painter, but I do still Glean some knowledge on painting faces from it. Oh, and your soundtrack has a little 80's vibe in it which I love.
I also like the nitty gritty detailed tutorials. Keep em comin! And I miss bloopers. Maybe they're more trouble to edit than it's worth, but if not, they're fun.
I didn’t paint warhammer or minis for that matter but I do paint 1/35 figures for traditional scalemodeling so I always love to see these type of videos! I really struggle with faces so I need all the help I can get
Good one, thanks. I think the 30 minutes one has the most expression ( not only because of the design but because it's a bit "harsher" painted ), would definitely go for that!
Fantastic video! Id really like you to do more of these with different skin tones because while the steps may be the same, the color choices would be different. I'm working on improving my ability to paint dark skin tones now and there is so much variation in color choice that impacts the final result, I feel like it would be a rich topic for you to explore. Anyway, as always great work!
I love these tutorials. The fact you are willing to dive into the weeds on these things absolutely is amazing, and the technical details isn't really easy to find in a lot of places. The only other places you can find these sorts of videos are from scale models who make tanks, planes, railroads and military models
I enjoyed your video greatly. Having recently returned to painting after a good amount of time I am trying to learn new ways of doing my models, I noticed many painters are using techniques which either dinnae exist or more likely were not publicly shared in the past. Watching you do faces in several different time limits was extremely helpful. Any chance you could do a video on bare hands, gloved hands or any other type of hands?
I really enjoyed this video, not for the deep dive specifically, but rather highlighting how much can be done with some forethought prior to setting out. The 30 minute face looks awesome, and even for 10 minutes is clean. Knowing how you decided to adjust the process to the "errors" that happened provided a lot of insight to higher level painting skills such as color mixing on the fly and adjusting saturation and contrast.
I have always been a 10 min face guy, but I see now the difference another 20 min can make. I’m definitely going to slow my roll a bit. I picked up some great tips for hair. That’s what I’ve really been missing. Thanks bro!
I like having more in depth videos about specific parts. It helps with learning how light interacts with different shapes, especially when there’s so many different shapes in a small area like faces.
I literally found your channel less than a day ago. I don't paint miniatures and don't exactly plan on doing it any time soon or ever for that matter. But your videos are high quality, entertaining and i rather enjoy the short and straight to the point format. As i said, i don't do miniatures but i still feel that i learned something. Love the content, keep doing what you do.
Love it Ninjon! Would love a quick mounting video. I see the cork and such but a quick paint mounting video would be great! Thanks again though, always an inspiration to slay my grey.
As someone just starting my second year in the hobby I love videos like this! Seeing the details and the steps at 3 different timeframes is really helpful. Thank you.
I like the 30 minute face the best, but then again? I can't see myself spending THAT much time (more than say, 30 minutes or so) on a face that tiny. I've got my ways of painting faces that are perfectly adequate for my skill level as of now, but I still learned a lot from this video anyway. Thank you, Jon!
I’m getting back into the hobby now in my late 30s after dabbling in it as a teen, and I absolutely appreciate these detailed videos. Hobby time is a precious resource for me so understanding best practices and where to spend my time improving in the hobby goes a long way. Also , this type of video will be timeless because someone can look back years from now to find it and still get lots of useful information and your experience on the topic.
I really enjoyed this tutorial. Painting faces is... one reason my army mostly wears helmets. I know I'll get hate for this, but I'd like to see a tutorial on painting a race like the Tau. I'm sure the principles are the same, but after that, I'm at a loss. And I like the deep dives into a small part like a head. The extra detail helps a lot.
I really love these kinds of videos. They always seem to show me something I hadn't thought of before. And, as a "phace-phobic" painter, I liked how simple it was to get to the point that it was presentable. Though, I think my hour face might look like your 10 minute face, at least to start. :D Great stuff. Thanks as usual.
This was definitely useful Jon. Quick hit tutorials like this are ideal content. Maybe belt out another ghetto one for NMN with the same time constraint. That would help out a significant chunk of the viewership- even if it's to see dirty shortcuts. x
I honestly think the 10 min face is more than enough. Like you said, unless you are going for an award, I can't see putting that much more effort into them. Good video, I like the idea of doing more vids like this focusing in on various bits like this.
Loved this video and was super helpful! Faces are my nemesis. My hands are also not the greatest, but this video definitely helped me work out some steps! Thanks!!!
I would enjoy a second version of this video that includes three more so you can have six to compare. One that’s a contrast paint over a zenithal. One that’s contrast paint but layered up with thin acrylics on top. And one that uses everything.
I have always hated painting faces always chosen to give models a helmet instead. Took the plunge today after seeing this video a couple months ago, did I start small or did I go straight for Bobby G? I love this technique for painting faces, Bobby Gs noggin came out brilliantly. It is the only time I have ever been happy with a face I've painted ever any other time its been that'll do. So thank you Ninjon
These are great videos. I always like to watch someone work when they know what they are doing. I always pick stuff up from these. It is, forgive me for saying, far and away better than a temu video. Thanks, Jon.
Jon this was great! I am honestly looking for more and more videos like this, i.e. here is 1 or 2 techniques that you can focus on and easily try to up your "X" game in this case face game. I am 100% going to be trying the 2 tone darker to lighter with the blue and red incorporation on the several faces even with a couple variations as well. But this type of content is easy to not only understand but it is executable which is not always the case. This is far different than painting an entire model which is great but this content lends itself to actually teaching the viewer vs just showing. More of this please.
A big thumbs up for more videos like this, please! I think I'm finally getting to a point where I'm learning about glazing with a medium, a nice brush, stuff like that. I'm all for more opportunities to learn something; a few days ago I had set myself the goal of being as good a painter like Vince Venturella, Scott or yourself, and I really want to push myself with each new model I'm painting. Finally, thank you for the content as always. It's bloody good stuff.
Yep great video, like tips on specific topics, also like the technique videos you do with the colourful shading stuff, about to try my first of those, and my next face, Ill try painting seperately as I usually do the face last. Great tip on the oval with the whole bottom half more shaded, thanks.
I love videos like this. More please. If I could request one, could you do the same on smaller faces? Maybe another where you use a lighter or darker complexion?
“Bases and faces” will enhance even the most basic paint job. On a separate note, the 10 minute face still looks awesome, and I’m wondering if there’s really any need for the 60 minute over the 30 minute other than for display/competition? I have quite a few spare bare heads as I always use the helmet option on EVERYTHING! But after this video I’ll give some faces a go
I'd be happy if my 1-hour faces looked like your 10-minute face. This was helpful, since I struggle with faces more than anything - and I'm with you on eyes - no need. At a distance, you can't see eyes the way they usually get painted anyway... :)
Keep making videos like this please! Also: This was very helpful but it would’ve been great if you could’ve panned back to your palette when changing colors to help visualize which tones to use for each step
Yes. Doing in-depth tutorials on different materials/part are a life saver. instead of trying to find certain aspects of a long video and then having to replay that over and over while painting.
The status face from Wolfenstein look is a win for me.
It's such an amazing thing to have such an array of "tutorials" to pick from.

Then you got Vincy V. with a tutorial on how to paint the big toenail on a Spacewolf's right foot during a Bloodmoon.
Thanks for yet another amazing video with a lot to learn
videos like this are very helpful to the beginning painter. Good for understanding lighting and the transition from the bottom of the face to the top.
New ice breaker - “Your Nasolabial folds are top tier.”
A+ on the music choice in this one. Perfect face painting music.
Agree that “deep dive” videos are really nice for beginners.
These kind of videos are my absolute favorites of yours. I love hearing your thoughts and seeing your process on painting something, it really helps me to think through the painting decisions I make when I am working on something similar.
Actually, the face is one of my favorite parts of painting. It's a very small, contained area and gives a model TONS of character.
I have been just worrying about painting the faces on a couple of models I really like. This video has really helped me better shape a plan in my head. Thanks!!!
More of this. I think this is where you really shine.
A fun video! If I could offer one suggestion; I'd have a section of the 3 heads, in their finished state, at the very beginning of the video and ask the audience to choose A, B or C on which is which. love the specific focus
I love the nitty gritty detail videos. Great job.

Love this idea of focusing on single parts.
All the faces work on screen but in hand I am sure the differences are noticeable! Paint eyes unless they are table top! great job!
I like the more detailed video that focuses on just one thing. Thank you.
I love this. Thank you. I'm gonna use this today. Wasn't even gonna paint today. Just feeling inspired to slay the grey.
I love these tutorials. The fact you are willing to dive into the weeds on these things absolutely is amazing, and the technical details isn't really easy to find in a lot of places. This video is definitely getting bookmarked for future reference.

luv the vid , gave me some confidence to paint faces in a more controlled way other than flesh color , wash and highlight.
I have always been a 10 min face guy, but I see now the difference another 20 min can make. I’m definitely going to slow my roll a bit. I picked up some great tips for hair. That’s what I’ve really been missing. Thanks bro!

Brilliant as ever and 80's music vibes
I'm a big fan of the nitty gritty on a specific thing. More please!
I loved this style video. With different levels to it.
Yes! These tutorials are what I love the best. I have to say, I'm loving the 30 minute one the best. You are amazing, thank you!
I literally found your channel less than a day ago. I don't paint miniatures and don't exactly plan on doing it any time soon or ever for that matter. I love Michigan Toy soldier! Best paint shop imo
Loved the vid. The soundtrack was awesome. And the 30 minute head was definitely the best!
Yes, this vid is awesome. I’d totally rewatch it next time I go do a face on a model too.
I think the 30 minute paint job is the best
I honestly think the 30 min head looks the best. These types of videos are why I love your channel, keep doing them!
I just started painting miniatures, 28mm, and your videos have helped a lot! Not just these tutorials, but also your videos on gear.
I like the 30 minute face the best, but then again? I can't see myself spending THAT much time (more than say, 30 minutes or so) on a face that tiny. Love the tutorial videos, especially the stuff we paint a lot of.
Thanks!

Yes, more of that!
Never have I been left thinking I want to go and try painting some faces.
Absolutely enjoy these focused topic videos, Ninjon! Hope you continue this format. :D
Loved this video and was super helpful! Faces are my nemesis. My hands are also not the greatest, but this video definitely helped me work out some steps! Thanks!!!
Love seeing this focus on one small area of painting. MOAR of these! 😀
Love that type of format, keep up the good work!
Loved the video! Listening to someone else’s thought process as they slam acrylics helps alot
This video is FANTASTIC! Thanks!
Hooray for another great tutorial and hooray for the Kingdom Death T-shirt. I have the same one!
I would enjoy a second version of this video that includes three more so you can have six to compare. One that’s a contrast paint over a zenithal. One that’s contrast paint but layered up with thin acrylics on top. And one that uses everything.
This is great! Enjoyable and informative! And I'm glad I've been doing cosplay makeup on and off for years XD
Watched to the end and I definitely appreciate these kinds of videos where you go in depth. I wouldn’t mind seeing one on OSL and capes lol
I have always hated painting faces always chosen to give models a helmet instead. Loved it. Thank you for the specifics. A tutorial on skulls specifically would be good, eg large ones like dragon skulls down to human
Thanks
Insightful video - would love to see more like this one!
Yes to some more in depth videos.
And honestly I actually really like the 10 minute face.
Great video, loved the tips and will definitely be used going forward.
A big thumbs up for more videos like this, please! I think I'm finally getting to a point where I'm learning about glazing with a medium, a nice brush, stuff like that. Excited to try this on some marines soon
Faces have always been a problem for me, and it helps to see someone break it down into steps like you have in this video.
This video rocked. I watch videos mostly to learn. If you did one on blending/glazing in the same style that would be well receieved.
getting into the nitty-gritty is a winny-winny
Love this video! MOAR, please!
Would love to see more focused videos like this. Keep it up.

Awesome video , thanks a lot for this work ! I will definitely try this out on my black templars !
Probably one of the best face painting videos on TH-cam
I love videos like this. More please. If I could request one, could you do the same on smaller faces? Maybe another where you use a lighter or darker complexion?
Realy nice! Thank you❤
Another well done video! Keep these in-depth vids coming, there extremely helpful!
Love this kind of in-depth tutorial. Also seeing which parts of the process you truncate versus the ones that are worth the time and effort.
Yeah. I like these tutorials. Thanks a lot.

This was a great video keep them coming
I really wish I understood how you are tapping highlights on without any effort and it just blends perfectly well.
I'm going to try to paint a face like this when I get the motivation to paint in the next week or so. Hopefully it turns out somewhat close lol.
I'd be happy if my 1-hour faces looked like your 10-minute face. This was helpful, since I struggle with faces more than anything - and I'm with you on eyes - no need. At a distance, you can't see eyes the way they usually get painted anyway... :)
Nice. More of this kind please ❤
Keep making videos like this please!
Also: This was very helpful but it would’ve been great if you could’ve panned back to your palette when changing colors to help visualize which tones to use for each step
