The farmers near me are over hikers building the towers coz they land on lambs and kill them if they scratch and they allow hiking for no trace & it encourages people to remove rocks from walls designed to keep cows in when someone prominent is doing it & others don’t have the common sense to not remove stone walls etc I live on the nc500 & we have the dumbest tourists ever tho 🤪
Agreed, cairns up a mountain are not deleterious to the landscape or wildlife.

Hahaaaaa, when your foot went through the ice and you laugh/cried, that used to be me when my depression got so bad that it would come full circle and all I could do was laugh. Not sure if people are aware of that, but on the far side of pure existential angst lives a genuine humour about one's seemingly dark predicament. At the end of the day, to laugh with and at yourself when life gives you lemons is a true sign that your soul is still working inside. Thanks Paul, be blessed.

Just a tip for any other daft weather sleepers.
Carry an emergency blanket use it under your mat and then if you wake up at twat o clock freezing you can just sausage roll in it and get a few more hours

I was so tempted to stay over in the Patterdale Hotel 2 weeks ago when it was freezing but instead persevered on up to the planned wildcamp at Angle Tarn.

Great videos…when you mention about changing plans ,me and a mate have a policy of miles and smiles in the hills which usually means changing some plans to accommodate some smiles or some miles..I always take a groundsheet and a foil blanket just to keep my matt off the cold floor..sometimes it makes a little difference..good luck for your future adventures 👍
Great vid as always. Top tip (to me at least) - if you want a light and dirt cheap bottom layer bag a roll of the thin foam reflective stuff you stick behind radiators, cut a section off and take it with you. When it eventually tears/wears out just cut another section off.

Paving looks similar to the stuff over Ilkley Moor/Rombald's Moor. They dropped slabs in by helicopter. And probably the digger, or maybe a landrover trailer.
