    Literally yes my issue was charging too little😅 because now I’m suddenly a graphic designer, a web designer, a content creator, and a SMM all in one and didn’t charge enough to hire another freelance for help🙃

    Really useful advice. I often forget how important is the way I approach my clients & set expectations.

    So true about the gut feeling - and the ones who only want to pay little are the most work - in every job I've had

    Loved when you touched on setting expectations around when to expect results from organic. I think this is something that more SMMs need to be transparent about and more business owners need to understand. Please consider expanding on this topic. 🙏🏾

    Cannot stress enough or agree with you more on the "race to the bottom" pricing strategy. I understand getting the client is often the ultimate goal, but undercutting/undercharging isn't good for anyone. Everyone loses in the end there in my experience.

    So I’ve been building my portfolio for about half a decade now and I’m still stuck in “work for free” purgatory. I’m in the process of formulating what exactly it is that I’m good at, what I can offer, and how I’m going to implement that. Consider this comment a Batman signal for all and anyone who would be willing to help a poor lost soul find their way in this world. I could use any and all advice . Much love thank you!
    Also, Latasha, your content is just absolutely invaluable. Stumbling upon you through random TH-cam suggestions has me turning the knob to the big scary door that I’ve been staring at for years. I can’t thank you enough! I’d give you a hug if I could.

    HA! Yes! I had one of those clients (no names) but she would call and want to chat ALL the time - and, one time had a crying breakdown saying that I knew how to help her and she was so stupid,b/c she didn't understand social media. I had to act as her therapist a few times (I should've upped my rates!). ;) We eventually parted ways, and it was all good, but madonna mia, that was rough!

      Ahh I've encountered the therapist thing before, too. It's a really awkward situation!

    I think that pretty much every freelancer coming from the "employee world" is guilty of charging too little at the beginning 😔 it's not only learning the skills but also the mindset and the art of sales.
    Another red flag it's when a client want a result, which is what you deliver, and they tell you what to do. It shows that you don't really want an expert in that field, you just want an employee to boss around 🤨

    How long do you tell clients to expect to wait until they start to see real impact?

    One such instance of succumbing to the employee mindset was when I was trying to become a freelance content writer. I was about to get trapped with a BIG TIME red flag client 🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩. Firstly, he told me that he couldn't talk by mail. Thereafter, he didn't wanna get on a discovery call. Also, when I would take over 2 mins to reply, the person was like, "WHERE ARE YOU? ARE YOU THERE???!! ARE YOU ONLINE??!!" Not to forget, even the job post in the FB Group was extremely vague. Thank you for this Blue Print on dealing with 'clients from hell'(rather these CHARACTERS). 😊😊😊😊😊😇😇😇

    Such valid points, especially with the pricing. I was tempted to discount my bookkeeping services, but I didn't want to give the impression that's always going to happen. My time is just as valuable!

    • @thelatashajames
      @thelatashajames  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Absolutely! My advice is to limit the scope (if possible) if you really want to give a discount vs. giving the exact same service for less
