Imagine if facebook banned MLM marketing on their platform... that entire industry would be dead! I doubt facebook will ever do this though as they favour people being on their platform over anything else.
Tbh I report fb mlm posts sometimes...hopefully if enough people do they will get tired of it and get the message that we don’t want that stuff on fb. Or I’m just a hater. Either way. 🙃
They actually did recently ban MLM. 😁😁😁 In their terms of service under "commerce policies" number 13 says mlm is not allowed. Wish I could post a screenshot.

I turned down an interview with an mlm and in the reply email I was scolded for not being open minded enough and how I’m missing out on such a great opportunity because I’m not open to all the greatness they offer. It was such an incredibly condescending email it only made me feel even more justified in turning them down.
I just hate how they almost weaponize open mindedness. If you don’t like them it’s just because you aren’t open enough (according to them that is).
What’s terrifying about that response to you is that it is targeted to work on self doubt and low self esteem or anyone susceptible to fomo. Please consider sharing their response to your “no” with the world. This predation on the vulnerable needs to stop.

I love how far Anti-MLM has come, just a few years ago it was niche for people to have a strong opinion against MLMs, now the media is actually reflecting that opinion making more people aware.

Just to let y'all know (in case ya didn't): China, the country where Tencent/TikTok is based from, has pretty harsh laws in place to prevent multilevel marketing schemes. Like, even in the most basic format, MLMs can violate Chinese laws. So if anything, THAT is probably why TikTok banned those kinds of scams and schemes from their platform altogether. Not to protect the youth, but to adhere to Chinese laws. (You'll see a lot of China-based companies doing seemingly weird things or instating weird rules; companies in China really do have to bow down to the Chinese government if they don't wanna get ripped to shreds by the CCP.)
MLM should be banned everywhere. They hurt a lot of people.

lol there was a tik tok i saw the other day promoting their mlm without directly saying what company they work for, just the typical "I'm retired from 9-5, financial freedom, join our team!" and I made a comment about it being an mlm and the poster was very defensive trying to fight me on how great her mlm is. In the middle of our heated comments, her video got taken down!!! So glad they're not preying on teenagers anymore

I find the biggest red flag for any product is when they say "don't say the name of the company". My first experience with an MLM was someone trying to recruit for Beachbody. I thought it was her own "business" as that is the marketing tool. After talking I found out that was not true. (Also selling shakes was an even bigger red flag). I refused to sign up till she gave me the name of the company she worked for. I researched it that night and found out it was basically a scam. I just find this practice so shady and predatory when they give advice like "don't say the company name"..
right? like how is not using the company name anyyywhere a good sign

if you look at the Facebook community standards, they say don't post fake jobs, work from home or get rich quick schemes but I really think they need to put it down as multilevel marketing because they have that in their advertising policies. so I don't understand why they wouldn't have the same thing in community standards.
I feel like MLM companies initially saw online social media as a major boon, and now it's starting to dig their grave.

I love the advice of "don't say the name of the company". Can you imagine a real company doing that? Millions of dollars go into choosing a brand name because brand recognition is so important.

Had a buddy invite me to some talk at his house about a telephone company and I said it sounded like a pyramid scheme - he insisted it wasn't. The guy who spoke had a title slide on his easeled presentation, but the VERY NEXT SLIDE was LITERALLY a pyramid. I found out that the company had been sued by several countries, including the speaker himself. I told another buddy of ours who was there and was yelled at for not letting him make his own decision.
That same guy is now doing everything he can to ruin his ex-wife, who he had living in a barely livable trailer while he built his off-grid compound. Really horrible shit.

These two are what I call "the tip of the spear." MLMs love weaponized charisma and positivity. They use it to drag people who don't have sales training, and instincts, into their scheme. I can't say if these two know what they are, or if they do, and just don't care.

I'm extremely cynical and live by the philosophy of "If it seems to good to be true, it probably is." If that means walking away from a good deal, so be it. I would rather lose out on one good deal then get taken in by ten cons/tricks/barely legal mechanization.
Not to mention my personal morals wouldn't allow me to intentionally screw someone over. If being wealthy means making other people suffer, it isn't worth the price to me.
New here only reason i checked out this video is because I know that couple they are in Modere I was suckered in earlier this year i jumped boat when I saw no money coming into my pocket and they kept telling me I needed to recruit after they had already told me i did NOT have to recruit (which was why I got interested in the first place) all i had to do was sell products. But that was sooo not the case What a waste of time and money as well as efforts!

Him talking about saying the name of the company makes it more obvious... um... nothing screams "this is a scam!" like strategically avoiding showing or saying the company/brand name while trying to sell me stuff. I've got a cousin who has been involved in so many MLM's that I've lost count. The last one she did was a few years ago. I still don't know which one it was because she wouldn't show or say the name of it in her post. I saw the pic with all the containers turned with the label away from the camera and the block of text with the post that was just vaguely going on about how incredible these products were (of course there were plenty of emoji's sprinkled around)... knew right away that I wanted no part in it. I don't think she's in it anymore. I still have no idea wtf she was selling.

How quickly would MLMs die if we could get a law saying a company legally cannot require an employee to purchase their own products in any capacity, nor require that a prospective employee be a customer before they can be hired?
Also put a restriction on hiring incentives so that you cannot gain additional cash or whatever from your referral's performance or continued employment (or at least put a cap on that, as I can understand a company wanting new hires to last at least a year).
Pipe dream I know, but still, I imagine they'd die very quickly if we could somehow make such into law in a way that would survive the supreme court (cause you know they'd take it all the way).

I grew up in a very impoverished family, and I have spent some of my life homeless and worked hard to crawl upwards to being merely poor. Because of that, I have an almost instinctual hatred and distrust for people like them.

I am very old and I loved it when infomercials came on after real TV stopped. I would watch it and appreciate it on the level of a stage magician. Ron Popeil and Billy Mays were my favorites.
