Great Vid, I needed a new rear tire one day, and tried a KTM dealer who had my tire in stock, I only run Dunlop 402,, But it was a bad move, when reinstalling my belt, I heard a bunch of banging, well this genius was banging on my frame to align both sides instead of putting it back on the lift and loosen the axle,, then told me he never heard of measuring from the pivot bolt back to the center of the axle. But he said he has been working on bikes for 20 years, the problem was he was about 25 years old. Keep the sunny side up, From FL.

Glad you liked the video. I don't know a thing about KTM but it's impossible to adjust a chain or a belt properly with the rear wheel on the ground let alone beating on with a hammer. There's some real geniuses out there. I take it that you'll never take your bike back there again. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching.

@@tinkeringwithharleys well I was out of town,, and I picked up a drywall screw,, literally
After seeing the Ding marks in
my frame, they finally put it up on the lift, and redid the belt
Then only charged me for the tire no labor..

I have an older Softail (Fatboy) with a 1-1/2" wide drive belt and stuffed a 150 in it. Many people say it can't be done but I managed to get the belt to clear the tire by adding a .125" (1/8") shim under the rear pulley. I have 5/64" clearance between the belt and tire and the belt is almost perfectly centered on the transmission drive pulley. I'm sure glad to have been able to pull that off as the bike looks GREAT with a 150 tire on it. Tight fit but if you know what you're doing it can be done. I have a short video on my TH-cam channel showing the 150 tire I chose. It actually measured 144mm (mechanical measurement).

Just looked at the video, you're right that's a tight fit. But with a little ingenuity you can do just about anything. My son's fat boy has a 200 mm on it with a 1" belt, I have a 160 on mine with 1 1/2" belt. Both look good but have alot more clearance. Actually I'm still stuck in the chain drive era.

@Tinkering With Harleys haaa yeah you and me BOTH!! (Chain drive era).
What year Softail do you have that permits a 160? Ain't no way in hell anything north of a 150 can fit in these 1st generation Softails, way too tight...

      I have a 2000 deuce

@Tinkering With Harleys gotcha, the Mo-Co changed the frames to accommodate the Twin Cam B motors. Totally different from the previous Softails. My buddy also has a 2000 Heritage and runs a 160 tire. I always wondered how he was able to fit that into his bike without it hitting the belt. After comparing his to mine i couldn't believe the difference

Yep they changed everything in 99. I bought it new in 2000. It's the best cornering Harley I've owned, and I've owned a lot. Wish I had it when I lived back there with all the old country roads I used to ride. Out here you have to hunt for roads with corners, most of them are straight.

I just got one of those alignment tools for my dyna for the rear wheel and I just wanted to know, I replaced the wheel bearings and rear tire about 200 miles ago but turns out after getting the alignment tool the rear tire was misaligned the whole time. Any chance to overthink if the bearings are bad now or am I overthinking it and the bearings should be good after only riding it for 200 miles that way.

I'm guessing the bearings are ok, the misalignment was probably only slight.

A ratchet wrench would probably help

Yep you could use a rachet wrench, I prefer a open end or box wrench. Thanks for the comment and thanks for watching. Ride safe
