That was an awesome excellent video! Mine is a Softail so the process is different but the principles are the same. When I bought my bike the belt was way too tight. I bought the same tool. It is one of the best investments a Harley owner can make. I wonder why those “professional technicians” don’t use them.
Thank you for your comment I actually knew my belt was too tight because of sound it made based on my experience with Softail. I actually have video on Softail adjustment as well on my channel along with many other videos on Softail platform. Hope you will find something interesting there as well.
this is unacceptable😡😡😡for the premium money they charge they should at LEAST have the knowledge and skill level to do the job/repair etc... the right way. Unfortunately I see posts regarding bad service or repair work performed by Harley dealerships way too often.
@uwemeffle8057 new CEO thinks he can say HD is premium brand and it is, well this is not how it works. Maybe he can visit Mercedes service dept to see what real “premium” brand does for the clients and how job is performed. Unfortunately HD is definitely not there in this regard and as long as they will put these shade tree mechanics there this is what we will get as customers.
Jochen Zeitz is NOT going to give us a Mercedes service experience anytime soon or ever. He is there to make as much money for the shareholder as possible, already the profits per sold bike went up from around $1600 to $3100 since he took over. We might pay Mercedes prices is more likely🙄🙄.
@@uwemeffle8057 yup I feel this is already happening (Mercedes pricing). Recently I see more and more posts on HD forums from people saying these bikes are priced out of their range. They were always expensive but recently it is another level of this for real.
Woow thank you so much. This is first time I got any $$$ from any watcher. and I have close to 1M views on my channel. Thank you for your support, greatly appreciated.
@@RidersUnited oh yeah! well you are more than welcome. That was a great how to and that tool to hold to hold the nut in place was great to know about, I never seen any other videos about that tool..So I'm going to buy that so I'll have to when I try to or have to tighten my belt one day 👍
I use the 3rd hand tool along with a $15 Amazon torque adapter to eliminate removing the mufflers. Considering the HD factory service manual recommends using new muffler clamps at $9.22 each when reinstalling the mufflers, the torque adapter was paid for after the first use. Per the factory service manual, belt tension should be checked every 5,000 miles. Rear axle torque should be checked every 10,000 miles. That's a lot of $9.22 muffler clamps if you're racking up the miles, and removing/reinstalling the mufflers at the recommended maintenance intervals.

Thanks for your comment and yes you are definitely correct. I have to admit I never replaced any muffler clamps during removal/reinstall
Great video man

I think I missed the belt adjust measurement .Is it 1/2' to 9/16'?
It is different for different models but if you have m8 it was listed on video
Great information, thank you 👍
Thank you for your comment always appreciate your note.
Great video. Thank you.
Glad you liked it. Appreciate the comment
You should do this adjustment with the rear wheel off the ground
You are correct and thanks for sharing this
In my Harley manual it says on the ground, either upright or on the stand, 2013 FLHR.
Depends on model
Great video.
Thank you Sir
I just found motion pro 36 mm works perfectly without removing muffler
Nice thanks for sharing this
Not if you have 4.5" cans
wait till you put 250-400 miles in 90+heat and watch tight it becomes sit on bike and have some else check it
I have to say after following service manual all seems to be good but you got the point there too for sure
Why did'nt you measure the left side?
I assured both sides are even.
