We got a switch day 1 nothing wrong with them, and now we have 2 more switch’s with even more extra joycons all working fine. I just feel like many people are rough with their consoles and controllers, but I guess they may have gotten duds. I’m probably just a lucky one. been buying nintendo since n64 and had zero problems with Nintendo licensed accessories.

i ordered one of that "NOT" Pro-Controller stuff and just arrived earlier. it came with the knock off box btw. but heck, the L button doesn't work and the R and ZR buttons are malfunctioning af. so yea, bob is right, you're technically taking a risk when buying cheap knockoffs like this 🤦🏻♂️
a not necessarily cheap, but cheaper alternative to the switch pro controller is using a dual shock 4. you're only saving five bucks, but it's better than nothing.
@@Kmarteezy oh sorry didn't have time to explain properly. you need a usb to butooth adapter, which lets you connect a dual shock 4 to a nintendo switch. not every blutooth adapter works for this (you can find lists of which ones do online i think) but the bottom line is that you can still save money if you already happen to have a blutooth adapter and even more if you already happen to own a PS-4
I've got the same knockoff controller, and it like LOOKS and FEELS nice but the buttons and sticks are worse than using the joycons even. Finally got a second hand pro controller and it's beaauutifulll
I'd be pretty iffy if I'd be buying a second hand pro controller. What if they claim a fake one to be a real second hand pro controller. Fakes have nintendo logos now.
I think if you consider this a spare parts controller for buttons, battery, shell, it's quite good value, if you scuff your controller and want a 2nd "parts" controller, this is it basically.
'power A' controller also wakes up switch and its the fastest Synch of any controller even the PRO. The pro has issues finding my switch but the knockoff doesnt. Its also only half the price of a pro controller. Its only missing NFC.
3:35 Thanks for showing this! Other controllers also have that external deadzone and axis snapping too, the Hori and PDP Gamecube controllers included. The PowerA wired GC also has a very slight axis snap but the deadzones are fine, there's an extremely small external deadzone which is pretty much identical to the ProCon. the PowerA Wireless GC has no snapping on axes at all and behaves exactly like a ProCon stick.
Note: The SN30Pro 8Bitdo has exactly the same problem with the analog stick. Less in the case of the dead zone (but there are users who complain about that as well), but mainly in the total course of the stick. Updating the contole to 1.30 solves the problem on the PC, but not on the Switch.
I have one of these and it’s exactly the same as the official one minus the NFC support, everything else works perfect, I had none of the issues in this video
Oh yeah, that legendary Pro Controller quality control, that made me open up my original pro controller and fix the D-Pad they just couldn't get right.... I also got one of the knockoffs and it's surprisingly good. The only disadvantage that really bothers me is the missing wake up option.
Bought a Wired ProA controller for $14.99. It's perfect and even has turbo which I love for fast pistol shooting. No rumble or gyro controls but who cares? PS - I don't use it as a primary.
I'm guessing they put a cheaper battery in the knockoff. Would have been worth mentioning the capacity in the video because the battery is a big highlight of the official pro controller.
my experience with this knock-off pro controller (xenoblade edition) 1) mine came with a box 2) it came with a 1m usb c cable 3) gyroscope is fine in botw maze 4) d-pad works great 5) no NFC for amiibo 6) no Nintendo Switch logo i don't know which knock-off of knock-off you bought, I think you bought the wrong knock-off.

But going into more tech gadgets, my PS D3 still works, my new switch pro controller work with no issues just can't wake up my switch but I grew up in the era where if you wanted to change the channel you got up off you *** and changed it so that means nothing to me. Umm lets see bought tech office gag gifts, cup warmer plates, items for my ps Vita, some for my xbox. I could keep going but think you got the point. Either way this is a 2 year old video and most of the knockoffs work 1000 times better now than they did when this video was made. So yep I've had positive experiences with Aliexpress.

Got this and it came out great! Sync was easy with the included cable. Amiibo, wake from sleep are not there and vibration is indeed harsh but overall its one of the best value for money purchase i've made.
@@andrewanderson3016 How far you need to press depends on that specific game settings, dictated by the developer. Its not a controll issue that is a programming related issue. The dev choose the % of how far you need to press have you never driven cars in any game that isnt mario kart? You can controll how fast you move by only pressing lightly or go fast by pressing all the way down. Not on switch, you just dont have that option at all
I got one from ali Express. Smash bros edition. Came in the knock off box but was beat up. Thanks usps. Pretty much the same as the on in this vid but the things i found was the vibration was much more annoying than the oem one. But personally i can live with it. The right stick is way more sensitive than my oem controller. It was hard to pair at first but once i turn on wired controller thing then plug it in turn off wired controller thingy then it pairs just fine every time. If you have a budget for the eom ones just buy those. If you have a lil bro buy him one of these because he rages in Mario kart and makes the controller take flight. Also when the switch is docked in sleep mode the controller wont wake up the console but my oem one does. But i can live with that. Other than that every button works. Including my d pad. Ps. I have played 10 hours with it. No major problems. I think its luck of the draw. Wulff den got a crap one. I got a good one. Edit:(8/27/20) the one joycstick is kinda binding up but it still works. Mainly use it as a hand to your angery lil bro controler. The controler i hand to kids i dont like lol

Completely agree, i have one of those controls and every aspect you have mentioned its true: its just take a very high risk, mine came with a very poor battery life, and definetly the sensitive is a mess. I use it only for casual multiplayer games with my friends.
I got one almost a month ago when I watched the beatemups vid on fake switch controllers and it’s really been treating me well as an awesome alternative. Mine came in almost perfect as everything was calibrated well and not defective.
Yah definitely the motion controls work great and the rumble is really just an afterthought. The only thing u may or may not miss is the nfc chip for amiibo’s but otherwise it’s an awesome buy.

It's expensive and i cant charge it from the switch without a USB otg cable so no. And i have a xbox 360 controller that i can use while it's docked but i don't even have a switch yet but i will get the switch with the money saved from not buying the pro controller

The home button totally wakes the system wirelessly. I do it all the time. You have to press and HOLD it for a second or two and it will wake. It’s not an update thing either since it worked day one for me.
The home button on the legit pro controller wakes up the system. You gotta hold it for a few seconds it'll vibrate to let you know the system is booting.
for the dpad, it's just your unit. i got one a few months back and i used it daily and none of the buttons have yet to fail, and the sticks are calibrated way better on mine and i opened it up to see if they put a legit one inside, but no it's fake. also mine wakes up just fine with the home button and the cable that came with it is a fake of the legit nintendo one, but they left the nintendo text out and it just has this weird raised oval on it
Pro controllers are dropping in price they are around $55 maybe even less from some places. I think paying double for a better quality controller is worth it. I bought knockoff gamecube controllers, and have gotten angry at them and even returned them before. So that’s just my stance. Even anything made by HORI, PDP or PowerA is better than knockoffs.
Erik Zamudio, I have 8 different colors of oem gamecube controllers. that’s not the topic at hand. It’s Pro controllers. which have a million more games that it’s used for. because Gamecube is missing a L Button or a ZL if you will. meaning it’s nonfunctional on many games that allow dual joystick use/pro controller use. It’s also pretty good on smash people have notched them to be hexagonal like gamecube. Pretty awesome. I know partial amount of players who even use joycons to play with is just crazy lol But I give all controllers the benefit of the doubt. I own 1 of all the 3rd party gamecube controllers, all pretty good but don’t feel as good as a gamecube controller. but will always work as a pro controller as well.
I have real trouble understanding why Nintendo hasn't made Pro controllers in a bunch of novelty colours by now, sell those for 15 bucks more than current pro Controller price and drop the pro by 10 bucks or so.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if these controllers were just units that failed the QC check so they just slid them under the table to sell as clones.

Bought a Nintendo Pro Controller in November 2018. By March 2019 the left analog stick starts drifting down sporadically (so...many...deaths in BOTW and Odyssey because of this) and occasionally doesn't register a full tilt when pushing up (Link/Mario will walk instead of run even though you push up all the way). Open up controller, blow it out hoping it was only dust causing issues, seemed to work for about a day. I guess I didn't get the full Nintendo quality in mine and it has been so frustrating. I refuse to spend another $70 on a replacement only to have problems again, a controller so expensive should not fail within 4 months of use from someone who is not a hardcore gamer (maybe 5 hours per week, on average). So I bought a replacement part off ebay for less than $4 and waited three weeks for it to arrive from China, will get the new part in tonight. Hope it works. In the meantime, I have been using my 8bitdo SN30 Pro controller. Not nearly as comfortable as the Pro, but such a great controller! Especially for 2D platformers.

I found a controller that is basically like the Alibaba one, but it had a lot of quality. Only thing it didn't have was Amiibo Support. It came in a nice NS box as well

I don't have Switch, I don't like platformers (except for Mario 64 and probably Mario Odyssey) despite the fact that I've spent all my childhood playing them. I'm also not interested in Pokemon, consoles (straight PC fan-boy), nor in going deeper into comics lore than Avengers movies and Gotham series (I can imagine how fragging terrible it sounds for comics fans, I'm sorry). But I like Bob and Will a lot. Quality of their content, passion, characters and so on. Thats why I watch all their videos and streams. Thank you, guys. Good luck
I accidentally bought a knockoff one off of amazon. It had fake pictures showing the switch logo, and it works surprisingly well despite not being an officially licensed one. The one problem is that it has drift on the left d-pad after about 4 months of use
I bought the fake one and later noticed that it was fake by seeing you video, I was very confused 😅 mine one has problem with connecting, It doesn't connect with bluetooth and it sometimes work and doesn't when I connect it to mobile with a Cable and an adapter.

It’s definitely a 50/50 risk of getting a shitty controller and great controller, but I took a gamble and got a great controller

Also the pro controller is basically an XBONE controll clone i own both, preffer the xbox elite controll. Rather Analog triggers

Completely agree, i have one of those controls and every aspect you have mentioned its true: its just take a very high risk, mine came with a very poor battery life, and definetly the sensitive is a mess. I use it only for casual multiplayer games with my friends.

Yah definitely the motion controls work great and the rumble is really just an afterthought. The only thing u may or may not miss is the nfc chip for amiibo’s but otherwise it’s an awesome buy.

It's expensive and i cant charge it from the switch without a USB otg cable so no. And i have a xbox 360 controller that i can use while it's docked but i don't even have a switch yet but i will get the switch with the money saved from not buying the pro controller

The home button totally wakes the system wirelessly. I do it all the time. You have to press and HOLD it for a second or two and it will wake. It’s not an update thing either since it worked day one for me.

The home button on the legit pro controller wakes up the system. You gotta hold it for a few seconds it'll vibrate to let you know the system is booting.
Bought my official pro controller. Best money I spent. Worth the extra money imo.
for the dpad, it's just your unit. i got one a few months back and i used it daily and none of the buttons have yet to fail, and the sticks are calibrated way better on mine and i opened it up to see if they put a legit one inside, but no it's fake. also mine wakes up just fine with the home button and the cable that came with it is a fake of the legit nintendo one, but they left the nintendo text out and it just has this weird raised oval on it

I got one and the thing is decent. Currently though the left stick has a slight drift and trouble charging. It’s alright.
Pro controllers are dropping in price they are around $55 maybe even less from some places.
I think paying double for a better quality controller is worth it. I bought knockoff gamecube controllers, and have gotten angry at them and even returned them before. So that’s just my stance.
Even anything made by HORI, PDP or PowerA is better than knockoffs.
Buy a legit GameCube remote and have it refurbed. I love my GameCube remotes for smash. Pro controller is okay but I dislike the triggers.

It’s Pro controllers. which have a million more games that it’s used for. because Gamecube is missing a L Button or a ZL if you will. meaning it’s nonfunctional on many games that allow dual joystick use/pro controller use.
It’s also pretty good on smash people have notched them to be hexagonal like gamecube. Pretty awesome. I know partial amount of players who even use joycons to play with is just crazy lol
But I give all controllers the benefit of the doubt. I own 1 of all the 3rd party gamecube controllers, all pretty good but don’t feel as good as a gamecube controller. but will always work as a pro controller as well.
I have real trouble understanding why Nintendo hasn't made Pro controllers in a bunch of novelty colours by now, sell those for 15 bucks more than current pro Controller price and drop the pro by 10 bucks or so.
Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if these controllers were just units that failed the QC check so they just slid them under the table to sell as clones.
That's also what I am thinking.. but why is the Nintendo Switch logo missing from the front? Do they engrave it after the quality checks have been done? That would make sense but is weird nevertheless..
Bought a Nintendo Pro Controller in November 2018. By March 2019 the left analog stick starts drifting down sporadically (so...many...deaths in BOTW and Odyssey because of this) and occasionally doesn't register a full tilt when pushing up (Link/Mario will walk instead of run even though you push up all the way). Open up controller, blow it out hoping it was only dust causing issues, seemed to work for about a day. I guess I didn't get the full Nintendo quality in mine and it has been so frustrating. I refuse to spend another $70 on a replacement only to have problems again, a controller so expensive should not fail within 4 months of use from someone who is not a hardcore gamer (maybe 5 hours per week, on average). So I bought a replacement part off ebay for less than $4 and waited three weeks for it to arrive from China, will get the new part in tonight. Hope it works.
In the meantime, I have been using my 8bitdo SN30 Pro controller. Not nearly as comfortable as the Pro, but such a great controller! Especially for 2D platformers.

I found a controller that is basically like the Alibaba one, but it had a lot of quality. Only thing it didn't have was Amiibo Support. It came in a nice NS box as well

I don't have Switch, I don't like platformers (except for Mario 64 and probably Mario Odyssey) despite the fact that I've spent all my childhood playing them. I'm also not interested in Pokemon, consoles (straight PC fan-boy), nor in going deeper into comics lore than Avengers movies and Gotham series (I can imagine how fragging terrible it sounds for comics fans, I'm sorry).
But I like Bob and Will a lot. Quality of their content, passion, characters and so on. Thats why I watch all their videos and streams.

I accidentally bought a knockoff one off of amazon. It had fake pictures showing the switch logo, and it works surprisingly well despite not being an officially licensed one. The one problem is that it has drift on the left d-pad after about 4 months of use

mine one has problem with connecting, It doesn't connect with bluetooth and it sometimes work and doesn't when I connect it to mobile with a Cable and an adapter.
