@@raccoonmoder If you have access to a soldering iron, you might want to disconnect the vibration motors from the pcb. As stupid as it sounds, this fixed a weird drifting issue in a couple of mine. The issue started out as typical drift would, a typical non-zero value outside of the stick's deadzone, then the values started getting pegged at +100%, which is beyond the stick's physical movement within controller's casing, and indicative of an issue with the reference voltage and ground lines. The motors were poorly soldered, cold joints, wires held in place with a bridge of solder between the pad and wire, etc. But I'm not sure if that itself was the core issue, the motors themselves could've been trash with an internal short. Either way voltage and ground were getting shorted via the motors. Removal of the motors fully fixed any of the issues I had.

People forget this all the time, but a big reason for “pro-style controls” is accessibility. I may not be able to click the thumbsticks in, or I need taller thumbsticks to be able to use them. My hearing aids have a 3.5mm transmitter, so I could use this controller to beam game audio straight to my hearing aids.

well, you could easily just beam the audio into your hearing aids with a standard aux cable or an audio extention cable. The controller can only do this wired so I dont see what the point is. I use headphones with my TV all the time, I dont need that wire coming out of my controller, I just plug it into the TV.
As for thumbsticks, I think the pro2 does this better, it has those buttons on the back you could easily map to pressing down the sticks, so you dont need to mess with the awkward swappable stick situation powerA controllers have. Because if the sticks are removable, its pretty likely they get lost.
Just seems like this controller in general is overpriced and other options do it better for cheaper.

I find that programmable paddles are good for games like Bayonetta that allow you to lock onto enemies, but require you to hold a button for it. In Bayonetta specifically, it means I can lock on and still have my finger available to input a dodge without adjusting the grip for my controller. (Lock on is R and dodge is ZR. Can get awkward)

The one main issue I could see is the paddles becoming an unfair competitive advantage, since it can make it significantly easier to pull off advanced tech. Not being able to use a cable to sync can also be an annoyance in a tournament environment where there are so many switches close to each other.
There are also ways to disconnect your pro controller from the console itself (but you need a right joycon on the switch to do so) and you can also just sync your controller to an Android device via Bluetooth (rip iPhone users lol)

I've got the Xbox ''Fusion Pro'' version of this very controller which is actually just like this, but without the jiggling controls and it's honestly fantastic. They do have weights in there (this one probably does too) to add to the premium feeling which is... kinda cheap... but *BUT* the sticks, triggers etc are very, very good. And the smooth gliding sticks are a huge upgrade over 99% of controllers to be honest. Oh yeah little tip: if you don't use all the paddles -> remove the lower ones and put the top ones in the bottom slot. This way it feels much more like the bottom paddles on an Xbox Elite controller and I personally prefer that in most cases where I use only 2 paddles.

I use Xbox Elite (original one, and now version 2), because I can remap face buttons to paddles and stress my hurty (that’s a medical term) right thumb less. Yes, it’s bleeping expensive, but what can you do. There are ways to use Elite with Switch too, btw. And, if you don’t have Xbox or PC, PowerA can be cheaper option.

Obviously it would be good for splatoon, but I can also see this being great for 3D platformers, holding two buttons at the same time comfortably while also being able to control the camera would be cool. The lack of rumble is a deal breaker though. If I’m gonna be holding a controller, I need that rumble.

People always miss the point with having more. Controller with 4 paddles does not mean you need to use all of them. It means you can choose 2 or 3 that are in the most comfortable position for you to press them. Its the same with MMO mouses that have 12 thumb buttons. It's ok to leave some of them unbound.

In my opinion every 3d game benefits from the paddles, and I say this because my thumb can not press both the right stick to move the camera and the buttons at the same time, this is one of the benefits of paddles.
another thing is if you have big hands, sometimes pressing certain buttons will hurt your hands, for instance for me pressing and hold rb or lb will hurt my index finger a ton, but a good amount of games have that set to run, so I make that a paddle button instead so it hurts my hands less. For this I have used 2 pdp controllers I believe in the past? the afterglow and the wired one that has a headphone jack as well. The wired one I have set to the pc now and the afterglow has gotten old and the sticks wore out, so I went back to the normal pro controlle (which originally I didn't do cuz my first one drifted) so I might consider getting this as the rb thing has started up again.

I am very happy that Sony started putting rings around the analog sticks on their controllers, namely on the DualSense, it is something you really feel immediately. Nintendo and Microsoft must do this for their next iterations, even though the analog sticks on the Xbox controllers slide very well on the plastic around them already.

As someone who once bought a Nacon controller with four paddles on the back for my PS4, four back pads is nice and it’s hard to go back once you get used to them. If I played Warframe on Switch I’d def use this. I’d also use it in breath of the wild. Honestly in general being able to keep my thumb on the right joystick is always a plus except for games like Smash where it’s specifically not for me

Everyone’s looking at this $100 version but Power A has what’s pretty much a $50 version of this controller that’s basically the same thing. It doesn’t have the back paddles but it does have 2 programmable buttons on the back. And it doesn’t even have the weird syncing issue that Bob was talking about. Yeah it doesn’t have Rumble or NFC (though that’s more Nintendo’s fault) but for $50 it’s a pretty good secondary controller

3d platformers, fps', botw, any game that uses the right stick in tandem with the face buttons has merit with a paddled controller. I mapped run and jump in bowsers fury to the bumpers just for ease of use, so I can imagine that more complicated speedruns/competitive games would be able to benifit from 4 paddles.
