@@thelookingcat you didn't listen to a single thing in this video. It upscales a step higher than the input signal. BoTW is putting out 1080p then it scaler would output 1440, then connected to another scaler would output 4k. No it wont do 8k but it will do 4k using multiple scalers
Memes aside, this probably isn't really a good idea. BotW renders at 900p (sometimes less, with dynamic resolution scaling) and the Switch outputs this at 1080p. The first run of the mClassic would clean this up a bit, but subsequent runs will introduce artefacting as the anti-aliasing and sharpening filters start to stack and destroy detail from the original signal. In any case, 4K@30fps is the limit for the mClassic, and if Bob is right in saying that the dock always outputs a 60fps signal, even for 30fps games, 1440p is the highest you'll get. In fact, I'd reckon that the only devices the mClassic could pull a 30fps signal from would be TV boxes and Blu-ray players.
I currently have a 4K TV that reads the Nintendo Switch as 1080p and then kind of "stretch scales" 1080p to fit the 4K screen. But if I run the Switch through my XBox One S, the program they have tries to "checkerboard" upscale the 1080p signal to 4K before the TVs scaler gets it. I also suggest using an HDMI 2.0 or better cable for everything, even though the HDMI port on the Switch Dock is only HDMI 1.8.
This looks pretty sweet. I'm gonna get one for my Wii U more than my Switch. Getting Xenoblade Chronicles X in 1080p or 1440p will be perfect, I can't wait to try it out
I notice something very particular, you know how there's a setting to adjust the screen size in the switch? use a calculator to determine the resolution ouput as a result of shrinking it down by a percentage, this way you can get a native 960p output or 900p output for example.
I got the Mclassic for chistmas and I will never play without one now. It has become a staple in my game collection and for all those videos that say the mclassic doesn’t work, what are you people smoking!? It is night a day difference with crispy sharp edges and vivid color it really brings my switch to “life” reminds me of gaming on a high end arcade machine or somthing because the picture looks breath taking with the Mclassic and if you havnt got one yet your missing out!
Quick fixes if you are experiencing 1080p still: ( I had to do these things) make sure you have a HIGH SPEED hdmi cable that supports 4K and above or your Mclassic will not work correctly. Also make sure your tv/monitor supports NATIVE 1440p. Most 4K TVs do not go into 1440p but I have a monitor that is native 1440p and my high speed hdmi cable makes this Mclassic work flawlessly!
I am using this mcable classic on my ps4 on a gaming monitor, playing everything increased to 144hz makes games look amazing for the PS4 . Its like I am playing on a PS4.5. Ive also tried it on my PS3 and WOW, makes everything sharper and cleaner, awesome product and I highly recommend.
"Most movies arent shot in 4k" I'm leaning towards assuming that's false. Even something like house of cards is shot in 4k to be able to frame shots in post with no loss in quality. Considering most movies today need to be framed, need vfx, etc etc, they HAVE to be shot in 4k to avoid their post making the movie look like trash
A lot of big budget movies are shot on film still, so they technically can be at any resolution the camera recording the film can be at. Some are and some aren't though.
Bob, just take the pass through of ur capture card, then plug the mClassic into the output of ur pass through. It will show 1080p on stream, but u see 1440p
I just ordered 4 of them for my setup. I built a specialized gaming cabinet on wheels with it's own power supply, battery backup, voltage regulator, and network switch with USB charging ports carved into the front and with Cat-7 ethernet ports and extra electrical outlets in the back. I used HDMI switches as organizers, so up to 14 different consoles can run on either or all of 4 televisions. My thinking is that if I add this to run before each TV it will upscale everything and since I can mirror screens will allow me to really see how different the quality is. I'm curious though: If you use two of these together, can the Switch display in 4k?
@@morriganrenfield8240 They said they're not doing that because the whole deal with the switch is for the gaming experience to be the same while docked and handheld
Morrigan Renfield bro the more resolution the worse the game will look, even if the dock is capable of upscaling the image to 4k the game’s textures are still low af quality meant to be looked in a small screen. 3:40 , that's not even subtle, that's a massive difference 1080p and 1440p.. • Falcon's right and left hand is much more clear. • His left shin guard is noticeably clearer. • The darks and clarity of his shirt is easily distinguishable. • Capt Falcon's face, teeth, helmet and glasses are much smoother and cleaner. • The statue and mountains in the background are extremely smooth and more clear. The biggest issue with the switch isn't actually the resolution but frame dropping, I've noticed it on multiple games such as when my wife was making her island really fancy on animal crossing it couldn't handle it, when she plays 2 point hospital it drops to super low fps, and when I played Link's Awakening remake the images were such high quality that when going from one area to another there would be frame drop for a second

It will probably blur the entire game with excessive amounts of anti-aliasing.
I believe I watched a video about their cables and they said you could do this.
Damn nintendrew is looking a lot more fly than I remember.
Me: *plugs it into my laptop*
I finally have 480p!
10:15 My boi Nintendrew looking hella classy in that photo!!
microfg4 just like you prof pic
This looks pretty sweet. I'm gonna get one for my Wii U more than my Switch. Getting Xenoblade Chronicles X in 1080p or 1440p will be perfect, I can't wait to try it out
This would be cool with a Wii2HDMI
This was one of my first thoughts too.
I am going to try this. Wish me luck!
@@karmenkeyes5748 please tell me if it works
I notice something very particular, you know how there's a setting to adjust the screen size in the switch?
use a calculator to determine the resolution ouput as a result of shrinking it down by a percentage, this way you can get a native 960p output or 900p output for example.
This is what this technology should be used for: entertainment
What image were you zoomed in on 6650% to get those edges? Damn.
4k tvs do a great job of upscaling 1080p to 4K.
Yep mine does already
Yeah, the scalers in most HDTVs or Audio/Video Receiver units will likely do a better job of scaling than this.
Your TV probably doesn't do antialiasing or sharpening
Yes they do. Any upscaling algorithm that doesn't do a line multiplication does antialiasing and sharpening.
I bought one if these to try it out on my 4k TV with my Switch and I definitely see an improvement in the antialiasing.
Whenever Spyro gets released on the Switch I’ll play it with this bad boy
I am using this mcable classic on my ps4 on a gaming monitor, playing everything increased to 144hz makes games look amazing for the PS4 . Its like I am playing on a PS4.5. Ive also tried it on my PS3 and WOW, makes everything sharper and cleaner, awesome product and I highly recommend.
Will I upscale the text in Fire Emblem 3 Houses? Thats all I would use it for
Kind of sort of? lol
The text is bad. I love the game but the text is killing me. Lol.
It's a fresh game so you can write to support directly or prepare an open letter. I would sign it myself.
@@WulffDen can we see a side by side comparison? 😇
I hope u get a commission on your link, I have already ordered ❤️
Damn I have my Wii U, Switch, PS3 and og Xbox One on a splitter. This looks pretty damn sweet.
Kevin Simmerman what Kinda splitter an upscaler ?
When I saw Power Stone upscaled, I was SHOOK. This is a big need!!
Watchung at 1440p on my s21 ultra, looks stunning ❤
"Most movies arent shot in 4k"
I'm leaning towards assuming that's false.
Even some big budget films like the Marvel movies are shot in 8K
@@AddaxCrazy Shot yes but most CGI stuff is not even rendered in 4k one of the reasons why "4k" blurays often still rip offs
Doom does not run at 1080p on switch in docked. The silent update made it reach 720 more often
Thanks, I thought I was the only one who noticed.
Botw and mario odyssey both play at 900p resolution by default
Bob, just take the pass through of ur capture card, then plug the mClassic into the output of ur pass through. It will show 1080p on stream, but u see 1440p
"Get a high speed 4k HDMI cable, don't use the one that comes with the switch" ...eh
y would you need that?
@@acrobatmapping bandwidth limitations
Edit: there are different cable revisions which support specific bandwidths.
Can the one that comes with the Switch display 1440?
Rick Vince no
Basically if you own an xbox x or ps4 pro use their cable.
WULFF DEN: *“Stupid little video games”*
Me: looks at his background...
i subbed can u sub 2 me?
Maybe this company can create a new switch dock that adds a lot more than just upscaling to the experience. That's whay people want.
I am looking forward for a review of the 8bitdo SN30 Pro+ :)
I watched this video for the first time in 3 and a half years and just now understood 9:43.
*Watching this with my phone*
Me: Interesting...
Watching on my 27" iMac in 1440...DAMN the upscaling looks GOOD!!!!
I wonder how mortal kombat 11 on switch will benefit from this
That is a great question
Not much
Nintendo Docks Pro, improve frame rate and resolution, the smartest upgrade that we can get for the switch
Nintendo needs to step up there game. And really expand on equality of their products, and better tech performance.
They should just develop a specialized dock that can run 4k. People would literally pay 200 for the thing.
@@morriganrenfield8240 They said they're not doing that because the whole deal with the switch is for the gaming experience to be the same while docked and handheld
Seems like they're pretty happy with the niche they've got, if you just want a little unmodifiable PC for the living room there's already PS4
Morrigan Renfield bro the more resolution the worse the game will look, even if the dock is capable of upscaling the image to 4k the game’s textures are still low af quality meant to be looked in a small screen. Download a ps2 emulator and play a game at 1440p or 4k, visually the game becomes a mess.
@@Carlisho Ps2 textures were created in some resolution and downsampled to 480. Modern games use 4k textures downsampled to 1080. The switch uses 4k textures as well downsampled to 720 (for undocked mode) Then the switch in docked mode upscales those 720 textures to 900.
All modern games use higher resolution textures than what the game is run at (except on pc)
I have never seen that “No Controller” message in SM64 before.
Bob: "Slap that quality setting into 1440p"
Me: *cries in 360p*
Me in 144p
Bob:You can see the difference
Me again:Ah yes
I'd love to see how this device handles Warframe on the Switch.
Shawn G. Me too
Marseille is a midly big city in southern France. It is pronounced "Marsay"
The fact that they demanded you to use their footage seems shady. Also makes me not trust you.
@singularon1 I'm not saying I 100% think he's trying to pull the wool over anyones eyes. It seems legit but if I know that a company contacts him and says"You can only use our footage." and he follows through with that it makes you wonder what else does he except like that?
@@MobileDecay if hes open and honest that they asked him to use their footage, how is he untrustworthy?
@@Emerardo How do you know he always discloses it?
@@MobileDecay But if he sometimes doesnt why would he choose this specific instance to?
@@Emerardo Because it would look good to disclose some of them. People will turn a blind eye. Also just a reminder that I haven't seen anything on his end to truly make me think he did that. In general saying yes to things like that will create trust issues.
The male to male bit was perfect, I’ve liked a few of your vids but now you have a new subscriber
Wulff: Slap that resolution to 1440
Me:only has up to 720
Also me: Am I joke to you?
Turn on 1440p
my internet: I don't think you have the facilities to that big man
I just wanna run switch games at 60fps lol
I have multiple mCables and have been really pleased, might need to get this newer version when I get a 4K TV
Really considering getting one now after the newest OLED Switch model was announced.
Marseille stocks must be SOARING after today lol.
I wonder if they are publicly traded 👀
EDIT: nvm, they are private.
mClassic isn't gonna do anything for the OLED model that it doesn't do for the standard model.
@@sinbysin666 I didn't say I wanted it for the OLED model. I meant that I'd rather get the M classic and keep my regular switch.

Jeez, the music scared me! It sounded like it was playing from behind me in my house.
By the way it prononce like “mars-hey”
Nope you're wrong it's pronounced "Mar-seye"
Sound the same ok I’m French so haha
No it’s Marse shi shi shi beh beh bleh! 🥵
Yeah you can keep it. Just plug it into your tv directly vs your capture device. This way you’ll play in upscaled and your captures will be normal for youtube videos.
so I have my switch running through the mclassic into my elgato 4k capture card and it just reads a 1080p signal as the source in the in the 4k capture utility. using 4k cables, display information on my monitor shows 1440... are there any settings i have to mess with?
I just want you to know after watching almost all of your Nintendo switch reviews i got one today and also the pokeball controller you reviewed! Already subbed and hit the bell from all the helpful tips today! Thanks for the info and keep up the great work :)
Seriously tho, can you stack 2 of them to make the switch into 4k or is it just a meme?
Also, what if we add the mCable into the mix?
Well if the game you're playing runs at 30fps technically it says you can do that already with one.
I plugged 2 mclassics together on the switch. Results are killer!
This channel is branded and directed so freaking well I'm extremely impressed.
Hey Wulff watched your interview video with these guys from E3 when u first posted and forgot. About this device. After watching this video I’m ordering my Mclassic now. Great video filled with a ton of info
Pretty blown away by this thing... I usually scoff at upscalers for modern consoles and typically reserve them for my older stuff but I'm actually interested in picking a few of these up now and trying them out.
