Great video! Managed to get mine done within 2 hours. Although, things I’d make sure to do: - Make sure the fill bolt can be loosed before loosening the drain bolt - Filled the fluid until it dropped out the fill bolt, and tightened the fill bolt as the car is running to ensure fluid level is full. In the video I see your brother stopped the engine. When I turned my ignition off a decent amount of fluid splurged out. Also saw another person do this on TH-cam! - Removing the seal for the filter. You’re already so deep into the process, doesn’t hurt to take the extra step to ensure everything’s good! Great job making this video! Really appreciated the guidance along saving me shop fees!
2011 328xi here, did mine last week. Oil came out super dark too. Took me like 45 min to figure out a way to take off the seal that goes before the filter, I was pissed. ended up using the tip of a open end wrench and bent it enough till it collapsed. messed up and forgot to skip through the gears. Ended up Filling with 7 quarts. Now I’m doing my diffs and trans case. I’ve never done any of this stuff before, I work on ebikes and drones 😂 cool video man thanks for posting
aw man sounds like you had a hell of a time 😅 yeah i've learned to just leave the seal up in there they don't really tend to deteriorate so it really isn't worth the time or effort. i cut this part out but we shut the car off while it was still in gear and it puked fluid so i ran through 8 quarts so i feel it🤦🏽♂️ thats exactly how much i bought though so it didn't end up mattering lol, might do a video when i change the diff oil so if you need guidance there i gotchu
It is a good practice to loosen the fill bolt first before dumping the old fluid. The pan bolt pattern is X starting in the middle and ending at the front and the back. Using a pump intake that can screw to the fluid bottle top is always helpful mainly if used with a 4-quort transmission fluid bottle. A zip tie securing the fill hose to the cross member will keep it in place and avoid spills. or the fill, the trans fluid temperature should be about 100 C for topping off after running through the gears in manual and auto mode several times. For an accurate top-off, drive the car for a couple of days and check the level and make sure there are no leaks. Best of luck next time.
Good, I see someone already said to remove fill bolt first, all you need is for the fill bolt to be stock or stripped and not able to fill your trans fluid. About to tackle this job and have been watching everyone's vids on it, think I'm ready. lol another tip I seen people do is use a little bit of RTV sealer dotted around the gasket to help hold it in place while placing.
This is how it truly goes lmoa👏🏼 editing but not editing the bullshit you go threw. Jiffy lube 10 min 249$ at home 2 weeks a shit ton of stress mess and bullshit
Definitely good practice to loosen fill bolt prior to draining, the first pump you had going backwards too. the spout is the output my guess is you were blowing bubbles in the full bottle
The car needs to be turned on with the fill plug off, and then fill the atf until it starts to dribble out and then tighten the fill plug. Usually about six quarts of atf is needed
Leave 2 back pan bolts 1/2 way in still that will allow you to un stick the pan and it will lower just enough light for the residual fluid to drain nicely out of the drain plug or allow u to securely lower it to your drain pan !
Buddy get you a impact drill or he’ll craftsman has affordable battery ratchets that work pretty good for diy level shit that would of made this a ton easier
Hey so I used a eBay filter and now I'm hearing grinding noise a bit symptoms of clogged filter is what I've looked up where do I buy the right filter from bmw ? If this is the case ?
Great video but I’m too impatient to do all this especially at the end when you have to cycle through the transmission and then put more fluid in. I don’t have time for that! Lucky I can afford to have my car serviced at the dealer.
hey man, i have a 2008 bmw 328i 80k, never done a transmission fluid flush before. my mechanic told me he also has to change the transmission filter and gasket along with the transmission fluid. quoted me 700. does that sound right?
he's right about the filter and gasket, but 700 is steep. this is maybe a 2 hr job which should put labor at 240, and even with 3 hours tops, that's 360 in labor (assuming a rate of 120/hr). 340 in parts is pretty high, i paid about 80 for the fluid, 50 for the filter, and 20 for the gasket. sounds like he's giving you that bmw upcharge lol i'd charge someone maybe 150-200 to do this for them (parts not included)
@@jakefixesthings8360 I was gonna do a couple drain and fills (or at least one) before the full job with filter and gasket. This should be ok right? Figure this is the last time I'll probably do it on this car might as well really flush thru the fluid and get it clean before I put a new filter on
I'm 65 years old and was thinking about doing myself, after watching this video I think a shop is a better option. =)
Too many experts here. Great job man. You got the job done.
i think you were using the first pump backwards :P. the red tube was supposed to go in the bottle of fluid. nice video though helped me out

Hey man any other tips i have a 2011 328xi also and it’s at 107k or the video covered everything?

The laugh in the beginning earned you a sub 😂😂😂😂
For me it was 17:47 💀

thank-you for your efforts mate, stay safe !!

This was how not to do it video. Funny! I cracked up.
This is the realistic version

how bout turning off the service engine light after flushing the transmission fluid any videos on that fixing to do my E90 328i
What tool do you use to get the old filter gasket out?
"Az time baby🏎"🤣😂
its hot
My Beamer blew up because of you
my fault og
Quite unfortunate
How do you figure
what happened?
BS!
what's that blinking green light with the arrow on it? I've never seen that in mine before.
How many quarts does it take?
Buddy get you a impact drill or he’ll craftsman has affordable battery ratchets that work pretty good for diy level shit that would of made this a ton easier
Always replace the filter o-ring seal. It comes with the filter.
Hey so I used a eBay filter and now I'm hearing grinding noise a bit symptoms of clogged filter is what I've looked up where do I buy the right filter from bmw ? If this is the case ?
just keep tokin an ignore the problems

Who cares shut up
Some people take pride in doing their own work.
you end up at the dealer cuz you don't know how to do it .I guess you don't even know how to check the motor oil level in your car.

here in Texas full flush with new gasket and filters w labor $400.00+ without the filter like $140.00+
I put like three liters in and it’s pouring out
“Interesting”
Video super helpful keep giving great content brother
