Good video, thanks for the tip on how to differentiate between the ZF and the GM transmission. That ring problem also isn’t mentioned in any other video.
Thanks for making the video. I don’t have a pit where I can work under the car so I’ll have to jack up the car and do it with limited space. I’ll comment when I’m done.

if you want to avoid removing the sealer ring for the filter you can remove it from the new filter and reuse the original one. other than that everything was correctly done
I recently did transmission fluid and filter change on my Bmw LCi 320i which uses same GM transmission. Drained transmission fluid came out extremely black brown so I was worried may be I did mistake and may be after filling new fluid I will get slippage. magnet was ok with normal sludge or debris no metal shavings so it was sign of relief. Fluid came out only 4 Litres but filling back @ 45C it took 5.5 Litres I don't know why. I used AcDelco pan gasket Part No. 24225800 which was half the price of BMW genuine gasket(original gasket is also AcDelco made for BMW). Filter is also available in AcDelco but price was same as Genuine BMW so bought Meyle filter. To surprise shifting was really smooth and unnoticeable before fluid change I had harsh shifting between 2 to 3 and 3 to 4 that cure the problem and now I have silky smooth shifting between all gears. I preferred using ATF Kandell Dexron6 .
i got Transmisson fluid deteriorated code and it shakes at 40 mph i got a 07 328i e90 any advice ? would changin the fluid + pan nd filter help my situation? is aluminum pan the way 2 go?

Did you replace the gasket,I have the same transmission and I'm dealing with a leak, was gonna just replace the gasket for now. Can't afford the full kit.
Yes. I replaced it. You can buy just the gasket but you have to drain the oil remove the gearbox pan and after that you can replace the gasket. It will mean that you have to refill the old oil back
First time changing transmission fluid, nonetheless replacing a transmission filter, car drained 6.5 liters, and put in about 4.5 liters in, and 3 more liters when started up, and ran thru the gears (2 person job), and I’m worried I put too much in, any thoughts?

@@WarpDriveM Thanks for your response, did you check the oil level after take the car on a tour? after that and working transmission temperature did you added more oil ?
@@WarpDriveM my car might not have been level when draining, and filling (drained approximately 6 liters), and the transmission was fairly warm, because I had to stop and buy a 5mm for the drain bolt, I ended up putting close to 8 liters in. It took 5 liters right off the bat, and with help of my brother starting it up and me putting more as it went through the gears it took about more 3, depending on how much leaked as I was trying to get the car more level for me to fill it. Did I overfill it too much? I’m thinking about redoing the process anyway, because a couple of the bolts weren’t perfect, and there was a lot of sludge in the magnet.
Pan bolts are 7 ft/lbs or 9.5 Nm. I've ordered my filter and gasket from USA and I forgot to order bolts aswell so I didn't want to wait another 2 weeks and I ended up to use the original ones
With the car off top as much as you can, till drips out. Put the plug back, start the car put it thru all the gears D, R, Manual and M1-M6 after that stop the car take plug off ant opp it once again till drips out and you are good to go 👍

did u use gasket sealer for the pan gasket?
