    Instead of trial and error. Take a reading of your primary subject watching your ev# or histogram. Note the shutter speed then count how many “stops” it will take to bring the exposure down to your 180 rule. ie. you want to shoot at 4K 30fps so your shutter speed should be 1/60th - you take a reading and find with no filter the correct settings should be ISO 100 ss 1/500. You need to bring your shutter speed down 3 stops to 1/60 so you have to use an ND8.
    Each stop increases or decreases exposure by 50%
    ND4 = -2 stops
    ND8 = -3 stops
    ND16 = -4 stops
    ND32 = -5 stops
    And so on....
    In shutter speeds the stops are as follows (sample)... 1/500 1/250 1/125 1/60 1/30 1/15 1/8 and on

      @@FlytPathHave you been able to find any gimbal adjustments outside of just the standard calibration? I have heard some rumors that it may be available in IOS (in beta release?) but not in the Android version of DJI's Fly app. Lack of these tweaks would definitely be missed.....

  • @JosephTMyers
    @JosephTMyers 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Great video for filters--though it is worth mentioning if one is really watching conditions and even with the MA2's fixed 2.8, one's understanding of current lighting conditions and picking relative filter per the conditions will save you hundreds of dollars over a variable aperture camera. Knowning photographic conditions will just give one an overall boost anyways when shooting high quality video and/or photos. As long as the MA2 is compensating via shutter speed to match ambient lighting conditions too fixed aperture, even with 2.8 one can nail a shot. The only camera i know of that shoots more wide open would be the Evo 2 and then you go way higher on pricepoint. Que sera sera.

    I ordered Moment's variable ND (2-5 stops) filter as soon as I acquired my MA2, and it finally arrived in early July. Now that I've used it a decent amount I am pleased to report that it is a brilliant piece of kit, and that I'll be picking up the 6-9 stop variant. Not that the filters including in the Fly More Kit were inadequate, but the versatility and quality of the variable NDs makes them much more attractive for my use.

    High-quality video. the explanation is found very insightful, even for someone like me who has no experience whatsoever on videography and photography. So, new subscriber. I am now developing the interest and attention to this because I want to learn how to shoot and edit properly and your channel seems to be the right path. That is why I sold my spark because I want an upgrade, and the magic air 2 seems to be the one. Unfourtanetly I don't have the money yet, and the fly more combo is really hard to justify especially here in Australia. I thought to get the basic package with 10% discount plus an additional battery making the purchase a bit attractive. BUT, I do not know whether I might regret not getting the FMC (I don't care about the bag and the other stuff apart from the batteries of course, that is why a second one is enough for me, and not sure about the ND Filters yet), so are the ND filters really worthy given my situation and would they impact at first in my experience?, if so, should I get the ones provided in the FMC or others with different strength? I appreciate your thoughts...and keep it up.

    Hello and great vids, Thanks. With that said most TH-cams I've watch are regarding filters to get the right motion blur. I'm a Home inspector wanting to get the best pictures to find issues during a roof inspection using a drone. So, tips on how to make changes for mid day and late afternoon photos would be extremely helpful and now that it is winter, how to take pictures when there is snow around. Yes, much of a roof may be snow covered but, I still want to see the parts that aren't. Any tips or tricks would be greatly useful!!! Thank you. FYI a know many inspectors that are getting drones for this purpose. We don't typically shoot video's, we shoot photos. And we want the best resolution to see any defects.

    I'll be curious if there will be other filters you could install on this drone in the future. I'd personally be interested in a polarized one.

      Andrew Hunt polarizing filters are now available from PolarPro and Pgytech. At least for pre-order. About $70 for a 4 pack of ND/PL filters in 8/16/32/64 ND from Pgytech. Shipping is supposed to be late this month. They also have a single CPL (no ND) for $15.
