Hope you enjoyed this video, ND Filters really are needed for the DJI Mini 4 Pro - geni.us/oRthIA
That's a great set!
I think I will take your advice on getting the CPL filter and forgetting about it.
Is there any condition in which the CPL filter would have a negative impact on videos/photos?
Thanks.
Here's a tip I saw over on Polar Pro. Let's say one filter is not dark enough, but the next one up reduces light too many stops. Going to ISO 200 will Halve the stops an ND Filter produces. So you have a 16, and next strongest is an ND64. USE THE 64 at ISO 200. Result is ND 32 Equivalent, or very close 🤔 how slick is that? I tested the method, (and actually HAD the ND32 filter from above scenario and it matched it spot on. Other examples work too! Try it (even though that Freewell set gives you every ND ever known to mankind!
Great video!! thanks for clearing up what to use when
Really great information cheers
Thanks for your hot content! I have a Freewell filter set too and I live in Brazil, we have a hard and strong light almost the entire year and this filters made the difference between a blue and burst sky. 🎉
Your footage gives my goosebumps. Keep up the great work!
Thank you 🙏
Great video!, always useful knowing about what ND filters are for. Question: could you please make a video about how to clean all ND filters?
Great video! Thanks Darren.
My pleasure!
This is great information. Thanks so much. I've got a DJI mini SE2. Would you recommend these filters for this drone too?
I definitely have to consider this for my Air 3..as well.
Absolutely as the main camera is also a fixed aperture you need them on the air 3 too 💯
As new to drone hobbies. Im really grateful for this video. 10mims of pure knowledge. Thank you so much brother
So nice of you, thanks
Great video keep up the amazing work
Thank you
Great video. Thanks for this bruv.
No problem 👍
Great tips.
Awesome footage ❤❤
Thank you guys
Loved the intro
thank you !
I like using an ND16 on my M3 Standard when doing hyoerlapses at night. It also me to use a 1, 1.6, or 2 second shutter for long exposure to get the light streaks from cars passing by
Cheers for that info
I’m just getting into this and I live in Mexico… very bright and sunny. Any tips on how I can learn about stops, filter choice, etc or is it more trial and error?
Very useful video....thank you.😊
So nice of you
@DMProductions Yet another great review, Darren. Thanks!!!
Thanks again!
@@DMProductions For sure!!! Much appreciated
Wow you got some
Amazing results im getting these
really needed on this drone
Excellent video Darren as are all of your videos! Do you live near Blackpool as been watching your night time flight at the beach there which was a cracking video? Just going to order your cheat sheets for the Mini 4 Pro so I have the info when my new one lands on the doorstep! Keep up the good work as your videos are really informative. Also away to order the Freewell 6 pack ND filters and Freewell UV filter on your advice. Thanks for that.
Does the ND filter guide on your store cover freewell specifically, or does it cover other filters? I see that the store mentions an ND filter cheat sheet, but there is no description about what it covers, and just making sure I’m getting the right thing. Thanks
Amazing video looking into buying the 4 pro
Thank you appreciate that
I got the three pack straight away Darren, but after watching your video it looks like I should get more so I will look into this.
Thank you once again for another intellectual video. ❤
it really is a good value pack mate if you want a huge choice
Fantastic video
Thanks! 😃
When using the nd 1000 what's the best camera settings to get those kind of long exposure photos you showed?
Any thoughts on the variable ND filters vs the singles?
Good one Darren. Wish they included an ND8 in the set. Either way waiting for my kit to arrive and I'm looking forward to testing some of the speciality one like the mist and the ND1000 etc.
yes I thought that would come in the set, probably as the ND8 isn't strong enough for a lot of situations but dull days or blue hour a ND8 can be useful
@DMProductions There's really missing filter strengths? Granted some are used way more than others. ND16/ND32 are my GoTo filters, as I don't shoot midday scorched earth, grey plastic melting light levels, but missing an 8? I WOULD RATHER GIVE UP THE 512 -as long as there's a 1000 or 2000.
I am thinking to buy your package But Before buying i wanna make sure that is there all Drone settings and which filter to use when is included? i mean i am completely new in this have really no idea about settings when and which time to use Thanks for your reply
I ordered a mini 4 pro today, i thibked ive watched about 10 hours of you videos since waking up this morning! Just ordered this set too... Now looking at getting the freewell anamorphic! I have one for my smartphone, love shooting anamorphic. Keep educating me please! 👌
Haha nice one’ you’ll love it and glad I can help
Hi Darren, thanks for the explanation. Question....why not leave the settings in auto mode and add the ND filter to it. Read somewhere it does not matter when it comes to motion blur unless you're flying low to the ground. Greetz from The Netherlands.!
the problem with this you are trusting the software to do the correct thing, instead of reducing the shutter it might increase the ISO in auto which will result in grainy footage
Hi I have a mini4 and I was thinking about insurance. Do you know the best or have you done a video on insurance thanks
I miss ND4 and ND8. Do you have an advice? Order it seperate? Or something else?
Hmm - would you do mini 4 or air 3 for a trip to Europe from US? I don't mind getting the license so much
Thanks for the video ! I had a mini 3 Pro for which I had DJI ND filter set and Freewell ND/CP set-. When I started using the ND/CP filters, I got sun reflection artifacts, light leaks too many times, what I didn't get when using the original ND filters. I realized that the structure of the turnable polarizer might cause it, because the simpler, dark glass of the ND filter somehow prevents it. Could you confirm this phenomenon ? I've just bought a Mini4 Pro and a bit clueless which set to buy, a 6 pack ND filter set, or the 6 pack ND/CP set. Dont wanna buy both. Thank you !
I watched this for two things. The photo of the dog and the long exposure photo. The was 🔥
you watched it to see the PCH
Good video
Great video! Could you maybe tell if a ND64 for example does the same thing as the ND64/PL? I want to buy the small pack with 6 filters but know which to buy. Is there for example any downside for using the ND/PL If you don’t fly over water?
Tbh I only use the PL ones when over water or lakes. Majority of the time I’m over land and using the standard ones
Thanks! @@DMProductions
I'm thinking the CPL filter and leaving it on there might be the best option for me.
Are there any cases when it would be bad to leave on the CPL filter (i.e. night mode, videos, etc)??
^ I would also like to know the answer to this
@@ProducedbyAnomaly from what I've read, it seems like low light and/or night, you would want to remove the CPL. I'm no expert though, I've never used filters.
Would you recommend just leaving a low value, maybe ND4, filter on a Mini 4 Pro all the time to help protect the lens?
I was wondering this too. What would be the best one to use if we were not changing lenses all the time. Is there one that we could just leave on. Would that be the CPL filter?
Hello I have bought the LPR filter for night time for magic mini 4 pro and somehow it get a weird result grey and white on light
Can you help me out and tell me why it’s happening ?
What about the Freewell ND32 filter.? I see people recommending that on a fairly bright day?
It’s a great filter prob my most used but around high noon it won’t be strong enough
Circular polarizer or uv filter if I only do photos?
What sizes of ND filter do you use in the UK and if abroad what size have you had to use there.... Would love ND filter that are polarising as well, so have you any suggestions?
It changes all the time due to lighting but ND32 is my most used
Thanks for this video! It taught me a lot I didn't know, how to use the standard filters supplied with the drones. Mist filter? Are there fog filters, darkness filters, low pilot spirit filters as well? Filters against secret or prohibited objects? JOKING!
As the Mini 4 pro uses the same camera sensor as several other modells the theory should be the same.
Cheers.
yes in theory all the same just the filters don't fit the Mini 3 Pro as these are slightly larger
@@DMProductions My idea was that a Mini 3 pro ND16, 64, 256 filter works the same way as the Mini 4 pro corresponding filters do on the Mini 4. I know know they are interchangable.
Do these filters weigh more than 1gram each. ?
Is it nessecary to have all of these, realistically how many does someone really use?
That’s what I’m wondering.
Don’t you need to handle filters with gloves? Would finger prints show or deteriorate picture quality ?
you could but I never have disposable gloves in my camera bag
what sutter speed shoud i use with nd 1000 to take photos like yours
I brought the meaning for pro looking for MD filters I like to fly in the morning which six-pack you recommend
Mini 4 Pro ND Budget Pack - geni.us/O9zJtG
Would you recommend the battery for the DJI mini 4 pro battery is 51 minutes best on Amazon
Thank you about the MD filters
Weird…I just got mine yesterday and here’s a video about it.
I got the free well 6 pack (PL) which has the 16, 32, 64, 128, 256, and 1000
I did this video for you 😂
How does it affect the overall weight, does it tip it over 250g?
Nope still under
Does mini 3 pro's nd filters works(fits) on mini 4 pro??🤔🤔🤔
Nope
Are ND filters also necessary for making photos?
No.
👊🏻 Hi, is there what you would class as a beginners kit for ND filters for a newbie to the mini pro 4 who is just getting started with this particular drone? Thanks in advance.
I would go for this budget pack which still gives you everything you need Mini 4 Pro ND Budget Pack - geni.us/O9zJtG
@@DMProductions amazing thank you will check them out
@@DMProductions 6 piece all day kit purchased 👍🏻 thanks for the advice, looking forward to seeing what a difference they make 🤞🏻
Do you know if the filters put the drone over the 250 grams mark?
Not the freewell ones
@@DMProductions thanks!
Hi Darren, would these settings here for video you gave here with the filters workout the same if I was just taking pictures instead of video?
Hey, PSSST, you need to fix your links on your mini 2 videos, they don't point to mini 2 ND filters anymore. And by the way only the Skyreat ones are made of metal now, Freewell for the mini 2 are made of plastic.
Hey there even DJI filters are made of PC they should not me made of metal considering the weight restriction & keeping your drone under 250 mark.
Why spend $150 for the set, when for $70 you can get two freewell variable ND filters that covers ND 2 to ND 512?
Hi Darren, well explained, tks very much.
One question: how do you best adjust the ring on PLfilters, just by watching on the RCscreen the output on different setting ?
Your help is veeery appreciated.😍
I put the filter to my eye and look into the sky whilst turning the wheel but they also have a marker on them which you can just leave in place as is most of the time without moving it
@@DMProductions yeah, easy. Not as complicated as my stupid idea...
Greez and once more thank you from raaainy 🇨🇭
Anyone else preferring the unfiltered look? Looks so much more natural.
Can this be installed on a DJI Mini 3?
no different size
Can someone remind me of the math to do in order to determine the right filter to get the right shutter speed? In other words, if I have no filter on the drone and the shutter speed is 1/1000 of a second, and I want it to be 1/60. I know there is a way to calc which filter will get me there without trial and error. Appreciate it!
Divide 1000 by 2 =500 (1 stop)
divide 500 by 2 = 250 (1 stop)
250/2 = 125 (1 stop)
125/2 =~ 60 (1 stop)
so you cut the light by 1+1+1+1=4 stops
The ND filter that cuts 4 stops is the ND16 (=2^4)
ND32 (=2^5) cuts 5 stops
ND64 (=2^6) cuts 6 stops
...
ND1000 (=2^10) cuts 10 stops
If you study the basics of photography you 'll undestand what to do with filters and how to calculate "stops" easily
I think you missed how the time of day and/or conditions should dictate whether and ND filter is required.
100% in the middle hours of the day or in bright, glarey conditions, but I never use them in the golden hours.
I'm useing only nd16 nd32 nd64, cpl and lpr. The rest of them r useless.
Do they knock it over 250g ?
Still under
@@DMProductions Brilliant, thanks for confirming Darren 👍
Hii
My Request for you please Provide ND Filters Pro Settings Video
This video is like real life GTA V😂😂😂😂
I would use shutter speed of 1/50 at 30 fps. There is no need to use 1/60. Besides, in Europe lights flicker if you use anything that is not divisible by 50. If I would shoot at 60 fps then I would use shutter speed of 1/100. Gerald Undone has made a great video about shutter speed and motion blur that debunks the traditional "180 degree rule"
First sentence in your comment. Shouldnt your shutter speed be roughly 1/120 @ 60fps? Did you mean @ 30FPS? The rest makes sense.
@@wayneharry8696 The shutter speed of 1/100 is good for 60 fps. It doesn't matter a lot which one you choose but in Europe eelectricity is 50 hz so using shutter speed of 1/120 can result in lights flickering. I suggest to watch a video from Gerald Undone Shutter Speed and motion blue
In the first sentence I mean 30 fps. Thank you for noticing
@@jonnanieminen8848 Thank you. I will keep that in mind.
Full disclosure please. Did freewell sponsor this video. I hear so many views about filters
I don't understand what shutter speed means.
Just to let you and your followers know Mini4 batteries (the light ones ) are NOT compatible with the Mini3 Pro.
Please add chapters!!!
Just remember that when you use these filters on the mini 4 pro it bumps the weight to over 250 grams
this is not correct it's still under 250g with these filters
Is it only me or is he talking very very fast 😂😂
It’s like the video is uploaded at fast forward speeds!! WTH
I really like your videos. Been a subscriber since you released your first mini3 pro video. If I'd only fly mine more.
Another channel did tests on filters and found some of Freewell to be significantly incorrect where the actual ND number was different to what was advertised
That’s as for a specific set same channel did another test and found Freewell accurate among several other brand please do take a look on the same too 😊
Must of been a one off, I’ve used freewell for years and never had a bad set
