      Yes, I was going to say the same thing! They always do this and it's one of the reasons I keep coming back, and for the restorations obviously!
      One restorer I used to watch had a spider's nest in one of their projects. Instead of taking it out like these lovely chaps do, he took a torch to it and burnt it. I was disgusted! Needless to say I don't support him anymore! respect for nature is very important to me.

      I'm not gonna lie, that bit concerned me. I really hope this was found/donated locally, because if it came from too far away, that MIGHT not be a local fauna and could cause major ecological problems. Trust a Floridian, whose native fauna has been DEVASTATED by invasive species that were introduced accidentally :(

    • @Emeraldspire1
      @Emeraldspire1 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      what was it anyway? some kind of millipede or caterpillar?

    • @Giganotus
      @Giganotus ปีที่แล้ว +16

      @@Emeraldspire1 Darkling Beetle larva most likely. Darkling beetles are pretty widespread and some species (Mealworms and Superworms) are even bred as feeders for birds, reptiles, other insects, etc. Other Darkling beetle species are kept as pets, such as the Blue Death-Feigning Beetle. All their larvae look pretty similar.

    I wish I had the machine that blasts of rust etc. I have a cast iron pot I'd like to get the rust off of. I've tried a couple of things already which helped, but didn't get it all off. One of the things I tried was the vinegar/water solution. It's still in good shape except for the rust and I don't want to throw it away. This was an interesting video. I didn't know candy rollers existed like this until I saw another one restored a little while ago. Nice job.
