This is my all time favourite route, both ways, in all weathers, but I think in the snow it is a beautiful, magical trip. As always thank you so much. 😊❤
I just can't get over how BEAUTIFUL Switzerland is! St. Moritz is a winter wonderland. I LOVE the views and the scenery from the cab ride. AWESOME!!! 😎
Zu Beginn eine herrliche Winterlandschaft und in Chur alles grün und Regen. So unterschiedlich sind die verschiedenen Höhenlagen. Ein super aufgenommenes Video. Danke für's Mitnehmen🙂🍀
Thank you. I really enjoyed the ride, the scenery, and the railway. You and your colleague take such care in presenting the videos. Maybe one day I'll visit.

Your videos are good for my heart when they play on my spare monitor and I'm taken back to the great days we had every weekend in the Graubünden! I would live there again in a heartbeat! Thank you so much for capturing the magic of this amazing rail route in the snow! We had a tiny weekend apartment in Flims for several years, so I hope you're not offended if I say "Gratzie tgei!" Hello from New York NY (but still back in Switzerland in my dreams!)
I had the great privelege of a cab ride albeit in the opposite direction from your video in the cab of baby crocodile No.413 also in the winter many years ago so many thanks for bringing back happy memories
Greetings from Down Under! 🇦🇺 Beautiful scenery, amazing video. The snow, although very cold, looks amazing. The trees, the little houses with snow in the roof like Ginger bread houses! It really looks like a fairytale. Your videos allow people all over the world to see places which they may never have the chance to see in person. Myself included. There are truly some beautiful places in the world.
Thanks for dropping a line. Nice to hear from you. I approached Queensland Rail a few years ago asking if I could film their network, they wanted a detailed production plan and a large sum of money.. I think it would've been 5 figures.

Great video! I was there in january, but there was a pretty lack of snow. But nevertheless I had a couple of great trainrides with RhB on the Albula track, the Julierpass (postauto) and the Berninatrack. Great weather, lot of sunshine, wonderfull blue skies! And higher up there was enough snow. I had a wonderfull time, staying in Chur.
My life's three dreams are made at Davos, Chur and St. Moritz. Ultimate freedom from all the ups and downs of this world. A place to seek peace and find one. If you have just one opportunity to fulfill your wish to find, beauty, peace and harmony look no further. Enjoy Alps and Switzeerland.
That very first signal was really hard to see with the snow piled up in front of the lenses. I'm surprised that isn't a better design to keep the snow from obscuring the lights. Always love these Swiss train journeys. I've said it before, I really would love to visit Switzerland one day and experience these journeys in person. Though I think I would go in any other season but in winter. I love winter but snow is not my friend.
Another magnificant "trains through the snow" video - well done Paolo. I am so much looking forward to watching this all through. Thank you. First silly question: The exterior Loco photo shows loco 621 - the can interior shows the key for "612" - different loco or did someone screw up the key fob label 🙂
Gorgeous Cab ride, thank you Lori and Paolo. The signals were hard to read coming into Celerina station. Is ZSI-127 train protection operational all the way from Chur to St. Moritz?
Now that I have finished watching the video, a question. As this train entered Chur, on the right, 2 tracks over, was a Capricorn set painted silver. This is the second time I have seen a silver set on cab ride videos in the last month. Is it celebrating some silver anniversary? I know from watching lots of RhB videos, that they like to paint their locomotives and rolling stock to celebrate various things. In fact, the motor that was waiting to take this train on to Desentis was painted lemon yellow with some picture on the side.
What is the protocol relating to snow depth? On this vid the snow is as fallen , no wind, The depth must limit the train if as deep or deeper then the loco/trainset plow blade. With the pushed plow with double blades slightly deeper. Then the fun starts. There are 1m and 2m marker poles at switches and shunting lights so normal running is limited to follow the plow (large wedge or rotary, but not too close as the rotary needs a couple of passes at differing widths). Eventually drifts/snow slides build so only MOW to clear the route. So normal operation must stop?
It is difficult to say. There isn't a specific depth. First problem are the switches. If they don't work properly anymore the traffic is delayed. If there is snowfall overnight. In the morning they drive with the small plow through the line before the first train. If the snow is a lot they may close the line to avalanche risk or until the snow is cleared enough. I would say 1meter could be the limit for normal traffic.
Just curious, I work for a power company in the US on the Distribution System. Just wondering what the voltage is on the rail system. It looks like 2 phases that are tied to each other. Does it have a neutral?
This video certainly exemplifies the phrase 'Winter Wonderland'. Magic!

A small question. Why use different footage from 34:48-35:38? That would work well in another snowy video

Not quite the whole way I don't think. Maybe Paolo can elaborate.
Yes that's correct. The last piece missing will be operational when the new Albulatunnel II will enter service in June 2024.
What beautiful weather. I would love to be able to visit this area. But budgetary restrictions prevent this. Bugger. ✡🔱🏳🌈

Yeah that's true. Altough the colour is officially explained as champagne. The EMU has the 500th carriage build by Stadler for the rhaetian railway.
