      surprising how much a bold new paint job does to impress people, it's a very simple thing and cheap (compared to heavy external modification) so yes, a nice simple and bold paint job can make it look presentable and attractive

    This is you first video that gives a complete walk-through tour and proper understanding of the layout of your bus. I watched the "making-of 20 Steps" video and the "Full interior Tour" but neither of them had a continuous walk through. It was rather confusing. This was perfect. I think if you did a cut from 4:30 to 6:25 and posted it as a separate video it would help people a lot. Adding a tour of the rear - what I presume is the infrastructure room would be nice too. This one gave a great feel for being in it.

      @Onrust1  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The 20 steps video has a walk through... I guess you missed that. I'm working on a video of the technical aspects of the bus, and there will be a lot of footage of the room in the back of the bus...

    I must say, you have an amazing RV! Being an American it's always fascinating to see double decker vehicles due to them being scarce here besides in big cities (i.e. New York, Los Angeles). Hope you guys have fun on the road!

      Nice clip! Nice bus. I drove a Routemaster once, long ago. But I saw you starting it with some turning knob or key, but in my memory I started it with pulling a lever down. It was on the left, above the driver. Nice bar too! I particular like the sliding open roof. (I was wondering how you shot the part where the cam is on the roof and the answer came right after.. :-)
      Do you know how high your bus is in meters? And the standing height on upper and lower deck? (Just wondering - not that important.. ;-)

      40l/100km is nogal aan de hoge kant is het niet? Dat verbruik verwacht ik meer bij een trekker met volgeladen trailer.

      was ich sagte ist das ich so ein vebrauch eher bei ein trekker mit volgeladen trailer erwarte,
      und nicht bei ein leichten bus ,weil was wirt so ein bus an gewicht haben? 10-15 tonnen?
      Dan ist wohl schluss, und ein volbeladen trekker mit trailer geht schon richtung 30-50 tonnen,
      also deshalb finde ich den verbrauch wohl sehr hoch.

    Better bus than many people have a house!!!!!
    Love it :)
    One day come to Portugal but plan your route due to small roads on small villages. Use only National Roads, inside smaller villages you may get surprises.
    My tips:
    Costa Vicentina, a lot of Nature and Sea. Cheap restaurants with the best fish and seafood in Europe.
    At South check: Porto Côvo, Odeceixe, Sines while the FMM (World Music Festival in August) to Lagos (already Algarve). This Costa Vicentina as many German, Dutch and French campers and many safe-places where you can find parking next to the beach, shade, food, etc...
    North: Gerês and Serra da Estrela, both at North be careful, a lot of trick roads
    Many kilometres of fun :)

    • @Onrust1
      @Onrust1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you! I'll keep it in mind. I'm afraid Portugal is a bit far when you have only so much days vacation. But I sure like your suggestions!

    • @the1greko
      @the1greko 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Contact other RV owners and campers and ask about Portugal. If You stop to rest or sleep You are here in 34-36 hours (from Holland)
      Reason to come:
      -Its the lowest crime-rate in Europe
      -a lot of Sun
      -fuel almost the same price as in Netherlands-Germany (cheaper in Spain)
      -FOOD...I teell you...I've been in Europe living (like Netherlands 4 years) and Portuguese food is just another level. Not about "fancy"...just the ingredients and the simplicity!
      -our dental-care is meaby one of Europe's cheapest
      -its easier to find a Portuguese speaking good English that a Spanish or Italian
      -you have "pockets" of tourist-resorts where you feel that you are not in Europe. Just see English, German, French...meaby 10-20% Portuguese people. This "pockets" or clusters are usually in Algarve
      -with good-tips and good planning I assure you a cheap and pleasant staying. Ask other people that come here, look in internet-social-media for groups and tips.
      The reason I gave You the "Costa Vicentina" (from Setúbal to Lagos) tip was because I love that part of Portugal and there are many foreigners that come in RV that do it for all those reason I told you, its very easy to drive there and you get 250-300 kilometres of Peace, Nature, less problems, less traffic, etc...
      I dont have RV, just interested and see many things about RV and conversions over the last 2 years.
      Comparing with all I saw over this from, from USA to China, your project apart from big is very well done, a perfect house on weals :D
      From toilet to kitchen, all you need with all details. Just amazing!!
      Well...just keep on rolling :)
      From Portugal, Luis

      Funny thought. It would take the driver dangerously far away from the road, and he'd lose oversight. But yeah, the view is stunning. What I do is put up a action cam up there and afterwards look at the footage.. Lots of those recordings are in my other channel: th-cam.com/play/PLS89arGnLSJohNbrt34qENo3mreUUhazN.html

      @@Onrust1 That driving position is pure fantasy...... for now. We are on our way to autonomous transportation. The dash upstairs could be three monitors showing the forward facing llower left, right, and center. A much better point of view than the current drivers seat has. An autonomous upgrade would have all the safety features and the 360 camera system like my S600. It has this really awesome virtual sky view. As if there is a drone shooting live video and feeding it into the display. That would come in handy when parking this beautiful rig.
      Cheers from Seattle!!

    The interior layout is consistent with my dreams of owning a tour bus such as this, with the exception, of course, I'd have to have a bidet (as did the late Michael Jackson about his) in the bathroom. Close quarters would demand such an addition for personal hygiene since often we're not as "fresh" as we would like to believe. Other than that, I love this honey!

    Thanks for sharing! - Big vehicles are so easy to spot on crowded car parks. You should put a flashing beacon on top to make airplanes aware that there is a high-above-ground obstacle. And the TH-cam sticker on the front is a good idea - perhaps a QR code on the rooftop for satellite imagery? ;')

    • @Onrust1
      @Onrust1  7 ปีที่แล้ว +14

      Ha ha.. well you wouldn't believe it, but the sticker serves a purpose... Last year there were frequently people who wanted to take a look inside. This year... nobody. One German lady came up to me and said 'I've just taken a look inside your RV - very nice', and she walked on. She looked it up in her own RV, on the internet, because of the sticker. And she didn't bother to see it in real life... lol..

    Be careful with leaking oil onto the tires or brakes.. that is when it will catch fire. So have heat shield coat or adequate length gloves to get in by the tires and direct the nozzle. I was on a bus once that caught fire this way.. luckily that was all. Also, multiple tiny extinguishers should be littered around the RV.

    I'd love to know how your English is so good. As an Englishman, our language studies are awful. I quite liked doing German when I was at school many, many years ago. I'm thinking of selling my house to take on a project like this. I'm currently working for a bank and well I can make a hell of a lot more money going back into haulage driving a lorry, I've got a class 2 HGV licence at the moment and I'm thinking of getting my C+E to get even more cash to get my bus (when I get one) to your level. Thank you for inspiring me Onrust.

      We have it a bit easier: on tv and on the radio we hear a lot of English. Then I got it in school, and I worked in English (I'm a journalist - from the beginning I had to do interviews in English... you learn fast that way).
      Wish you lots of luck, and I'm glad to be an inspiration.

    NEXT: Solar panels on the roof and mopeds to get around all the beautiful small towns!

    • @Onrust1
      @Onrust1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Because in reality we drive from socket to socket, solar isn't that much needed. We can do five days with the batteries, and in daily practice we found out that that is the maximum amount of time we are away from a socket anyway. Yet, I have no regrets for not putting solar on the roof.. We do take bikes with us most of the time. Mopeds would be a very tight fit..

    • @Onrust1
      @Onrust1  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We've developed an aversion against travelling too far with the bus, so I doubt we'll ever get to Serbia. That said, I must confess we had plans for Sweden this year, but with the present situation it is doubtful if we can go through with that. Personally I'd love to see Serbia. But is it safe? The feeling is always different anywhere beyond Austria..

    One question: do you have to avoid certain roads/ highways because of low bridges and overpasses?

    • @Onrust1
      @Onrust1  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bus is 4 meters, the road legal limit over here (13.1 ft). That means that you're fine on the highways and main streets in Europe, but on smaller roads it is trickier. It happens that you have to take a detour sometimes, but not that often. In all the time we traveled with the bus, it happend us two or three times (in three years).

    Perhaps you should inquire as to the feasibility of having engine compression brakes aka Jake Brakes, installed on the engine. It will ensure safe descent in the hills and help save your service brakes from excessive wear and possibly getting on fire.

    • @Onrust1
      @Onrust1  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I had engine heating problems too, but since the radiator got overhauled, we can do anything without any problems (in particular climbing hills / mountains). I know of other bus owners with similar problems, so I guess this is not really a problem limited to Neoplans...
