- During the bus gathering here in the Netherlands, I asked and got permission to shoot some video inside seven to RV converted vehicles. This is the compilation of that material.

My dad and his friend converted a old Ford school bus into a RV. It was a Ford 460 cid dual fuel V8 mated to a 4 speed manual, it had bunk beds and all that stuff. I don’t remember much. I was a little kid in early 80s. we traveled to Baja California. it was fun.

My cousin bought a used Blue Bird bus from a tour company and uses it as a family RV, but very basic, nothing like these. I spent a couple weeks last summer in it and was fun - driving it first time I was sweating mad, but did ok LoL Cheers.
I love your bus and thanks for for giving us the opportunity to look at all the other buses. One small FYI, sometimes you go to fast and if you don’t go from front to back the layout doesn’t make sense, but thanks again! I hope you continue doing this.

Mooie video ! Zelfs de muziek is heel goed gekozen, veel beter dan de gratis TH-cam gekrijs en rommel.
The Mercedes was my favourite. Though instead of the bunk beds, I'd extend the kitchen and bathroom, and put in a washer and dryer.
Oh man idk why but I felt in love with the blue one it looks like an apocalypse bus you can live in the long glass makes it look so cool but kinda scary at night lol don’t wanna see slender standing looking straight in the eye
I liked something about all of them, but liked the Mercedes best. I liked the child cage in the one bus. we have bus conversions here in the USA with both washer AND dryer

It's one of the Spaansen-brothers. Talking about looking in real life.. the last weekend of April there will be a gathering of converted buses on the Spaansen-grounds in Noord-Holland.
@@Onrust1 hi ron thanks for telling me that . Im gonna try and do some more euro shows this year . But with this stuped brexit thing no one knows whats happening . With prices for travel etc on ferries and how easy its gonna be to travel . Its just a nightmare . Atm witj it all hanging over us . Those who voted to leave have a lot to answer for . Its gonna put uk even further behind if thats possible . Im wanting to leave uk and move to mainland europe to escape this crazyness . Hope we can chat soon il try and find u on fb cheers just now

definitely it has been an interesting video, when I will be your age why not buy myself a camper van which i can afford and do europe in ultra detail, say 2 months per country or even more.

except your double decker RV, I liked the volvo one. The interior is great. Great job to all the owners though.

Yes! Funny you say so, after making this video, exactly that was the lesson I took from it. So yes, I will certainly try to do so a next time.
Ron, i think these would be massively better if you narrated the speech instead of using captions.
It's quite intense to read the lines and watch the video at the same time.

+zloychechen5150 - thanks, I appreciate your comment. I like to do it my way, but I see this as a learning journey, and with that I'll take with me anything, also signals like yours.
i see that you have an artistic plot there with editing, which i also rather like. but at least the bits that show interiors and shit could just be slightly longer so that there's more time to digest information.
it must be perfect the way it is for native english speakers. or the dutch (who, from my experience with them, have quick minds, great wit, and a cool sense of humour))
but some people with worse english, and just generally slowpokes, could struggle to some extent.

Minibuses of size like the 3rd and 4th are so hard to find in the US... are there any current mode of those buses in Europe? Thx!
The cage at 6:00 left me with questions . . .
The couple of that bus has a short stay emergency shelter for children at home, and they take all the children with them in the bus. So if they have a baby or toddler, they need this playpen / crib.
rear axle steering! I didnt know that was a thing on buses.
Garbage trucks have the same setup here. The tag axle has only one set of wheels and steers. It reduces the wear of the tires. Neoplan once made a bus with four axles, and all of them steer! It's the Megaliner.
Nice video. RVs are nice but so cold and industrial looking. Not warm and inviting.
In Holland; coach (bus) based camper conversions seem more popular. Here in England, we are in our second year of converting a VanHool T8, it’s been stripped back to bare bones and beyond ! Now just starting on the inside, so this tour of a few others is most useful. A few ideas to follow... We have only seen 1 or 2 GB based conversions of our size, sadly no meet-ups to attend. Perhaps next year when we are touring Europe, we might meet up with you or your friends somewhere ? We have a few videos on our YouTUBE channel, Appledore92 that you might want to have a look at. We have been very busy since Feb this year, although we have taken lots of video and thousands of photos, not yet found the time to make monthly video updates. Now that the colder weather has arrived, more time to be spent on the computer. More updates to catch up with... Maybe see you in 2018 😃🤔
Nice. You should come next year to Schiedersee, Germany in the Pentecost weekend (20th of May). Every year some 60+ bus conversions come together there, most from Germany, but from Switzerland, Austria and the Netherlands too. Look up the video of this year Schiedersee in my channel. Onrust! Hi, we exchanged messages here 5-months ago. You invited me to look at last years meeting at Schiedersee (2017) video and maybe see you at this years meeting. Well our VanHool is not quite ready yet, but I will be at a motorcycle ‘Treffen’ in Kronenberg, Holland, when you are due to hold this years event. 2018. Would it be possible for myself and a friend to come and have a look at some of the conversions on the Sunday 20th May ?
We are travelling on a pair of GoldWing motorcycles and the extra 1000kms before we head back to England on the Monday would be worthwhile. If your event is at a campsite, we’d be happy to camp, we will be carrying a tent with us, our rally/Treffen is a camping event. TIA.
Do you always need to park in dedicated RV parks or campsites when out traveling? Can you park for free anywhere in such big vehicles? It must really add to the cost of traveling.
On the contrary. It is our experience that we play substantially less for overnight costs. In 2017 we paid a total of 38 euro in two weeks time (see the video of that at th-cam.com/video/faUrznxcss8/w-d-xo.html ). Hi Onrust! I'm currently browising the internet in search for the answear what are the most suitable bus bases for tiny house project. I'm particullary after something with double skined windows and flat floor to start with. Would you be abe to point me in the right directions regarding that?
Tiny house? As in 'will never move again'? Or will it be an RV? All modern buses are double glazed, the long distance ones had it earlier than the city buses. Where are you based? The market for buses all over Europe is different, let alone Asia or the US.. I know of models with flat floors, but they're quite Dutch.. Maybe the best advice is for you to become an expert yourself. Start on the internet 'clicking buses'. It was what I did myself. I started clicking in 2008, and knew quite well what was for sale when I bought my bus in 2011.

@@Onrust1 Thanks. Tiny house As a house more then RV but yes, with option to move every now and then. Hence I'm looking for something in range of 10-12 meters. I'm based in Poland and do a lot of clicking currently 😉. Same time I'm asking around. Thanks for your replay!
I saw your Urbavan website and video. Nice! Sliding wardrobe - good thinking. 😊 Maybe you should make a video with your experiences after living in it for so long (I did similar here: th-cam.com/video/OMYeCBwKoM0/w-d-xo.html ). It all leads me to believe it will turn out alright with these plans for the tiny house. 😊 Don't know that much about buses in Poland, but Germany is close by and you could do like me and click mobile.de every day.
@@Onrust1 Thanks, there's a lot of overdue stuff that fights for a place at the priority spot and videos always get push back down. I used to check mobile.de but neglected that habit recently so thanks for reminding 🙂. Let's hope it will come out alright as my first bus base is going for the scrap yard due to amount of rust damage to main frame. Anyway I'm not giving up.

My wife doesn't want to travel that far in the bus. Therefore we skipped the idea of Sweden, so now we booked a place in Zeeland. Staying in the Netherlands for the holidays... Just to say that Sweden was higher up the list than England... 😊😊

Is it allowed to park your rv in the parking spot and sleep in it?
It depends in what country you are. Here in the Netherlands, it is prohibited. A few spots are designated for RVs and there you can sleep in it, but otherwise you can not park beside the road and sleep (although I know a lot of owners of a converted bus just do it - only because they know they are not recognized as an RV). But in other countries like Germany or Czechia, you can sleep where ever you like.

Gewoon even uit nieuwsgierigheid; ik zie dat u een 'V'-kenteken hebt? Die zijn toch gereserveerd voor lichte bedrijfswagens (< 3500 kg)? Hoe zit het dat uw bus dan geen 'B'-kenteken heeft? Dank!
Ik heb geen idee. Deze combinatie van letters zijn de originele die de bus in 1993 kreeg. Ik vermoed dat de combinaties waar jij het over hebt, pas later van kracht zijn geworden... (?) Zou dat kunnen?
@@Onrust1 Ah, bedankt voor het antwoord! Aldus Wikipedia is inderdaad in de periode van 1993 ook voor zware bedrijfswagens een V-kenteken uitgegeven. Weer wat geleerd!
Ik heb C (+E) rijbewijs. Mag ik een bus van 15 mtr besturen?
Hierbij blijven 6 zitplaatsen bijhouden naast mij als chauffeur.

Het hangt er vanaf wat voor een bus het is.. een gewone bus van 15 meter lang kan nooit een vrachtwagen worden (op kenteken) want die mogen maar maximaal 12 meter lang zijn. Dus daarop is het antwoord nee. Bij een gelede bus van 15 meter kan het anders zijn, want dat wordt gezien als voertuig met aanhanger. Maar eerlijk gezegd weet ik niet precies of je dan wel kunt sturen met alleen C rijbewijs..

Weet even niet hoe lang jouw bus is. Erg mooi vind ik hem en je hebt hem ook praktisch ingericht.
Als ik er zo over nadenk, hoef ik ook niet moeilijk te doen over de afmeting en is tot 12 meter op zich ook genoeg. We zijn met z'n tweeén en wellicht is die afmeting praktischer. De bedoeling is te converteren tot grote camper en te reizen in Europa om vervolgens deze te gebruiken als (mobiel) huis in Portugal; met zonnepanelen er vast op gedurende het hele gebeuren.
Heb jij wellicht een tip voor een tot 12 meter bus hiervoor? Jij weet er veel van.

Mijn bus is 12 meter, en ja dankzij 11 stoelen op kenteken is mijn bus nog steeds een bus, dus rijbewijs D. Nee, een tip heb ik niet echt. Da's net zoiets vragen als 'welke auto moet ik kopen..?' 😁 Vlakke vloer is handig en let op dat stadsbussen soms een overbrenging hebben die meer bij de stad past dan bij de snelweg. Ik hoor dat bij het omkeuren naar vrachtwagen de RDW de laatste tijd een onderrijbeveiliging eist, die bij vrachtwagens wel verplicht is, maar bij bussen niet. Ik heb daar al buseigenaren op zien vastlopen. Dus dat is wel een dingetje..

@@Onrust1 bedankt voor je reactie. Een gelede bus heb ik even aan gedacht aangezien ik ook E acher C rijbewijs heb en sowieso met enkelen (max. 6) onderweg zal zijn; voornamelijk met z'n tweeën zoals reeds beschreven..
Hier sowieso vanaf gestapt, want lijkt me onpraktisch achteraf gezien; alleen al om even terug te zetten of keren.
O, ik ben het met je eens dat jij moeilijk kunt zeggen welke bus; het zijn net de tips die je gaf over overbrenging en dergelijke dat ik bedoelde en nuttig zijn. Bedankt hiervoor.
Bus of vrachtwagen naar camper is heel mooi, echter wel heel erg opletten wat en of het echt kan dus.
Ik ben 1,94 meter lang en vind stahoogte belangrijk. Ik kom dan snel uit bij een niet-dubbeldekker, alhoewel ik de jouwe super mooi en handig vind. ;-)
