Winter Ultralight Fishing With Kastmaster Spoon

The weather has been less than ideal for fishing this winter... Until now! This small lake thawed out so I was able to drop the canoe in and do some ultralight fishing. On this particular day, I was focused on catching fish using the 1/12oz Acme Kastmaster. These spoons are very affordable, simple in design, and versatile... You already know I like them!

Overall, for a first trip back on the water since the ice has thawed out, I won't complain one bit. I was surprised about how many bass decided to bite, and it was also nice to get a few of the target species (Yellow Perch).
As far as how I worked my spoon, I would make relatively short casts and let it sink to the bottom. Once the spoon was settled on the bottom, I maintained a relatively taught line and gave it a couple of quick jigs to make it jump and flash. I would then let it settle and repeat the process. Generally, the bites came right after I jigged it and it was starting to sink back towards the bottom.
