It’s crazy how effective one little plastic with appendages works under a bobber or just retrieving close to the bottom. The horsefly and the zman tiny ticklerz are awesome for that. I’m excited that zman is about to release two new micro finesse baits that I can catch all the fish I want with!
Ethan, when you were trying to remove the jig and plastic horsefly, several fish had clamped down on it. We all got to see just how stretchy that plastic you use, and is the reason it will last and not tear off the jig like many other micro baits thanks for the link to Charles, he is worth listening to. 👍
Very productive cold water trip my friend. You're playing right off my sheet of music. I used to write about this type of fishing in Midwest Outdoors Magazine from 1994-2010. I'd talk with people at the winter fishing shows and the reactions varied but we had some real eye opening looks. Great stuff. Blessings Ethan
I just got into ultra light fishing right at the end of the fall season last year.. your videos are a great help for me. thanks and keep up the good work
@@FishAnything I do have a ?... line twist is my biggest enemy... any tips on how to reduce that? I see you fishing without that serious issue and I'm jealous lol... i did notice less of an issue with flouro... i was using a pre spooled reel with mono but I'm guessing that it was on the reel for so long even though unused it was just bad with memory... again just line twist issues and line preferences
I show it specifically in other ultralight slip float videos, but there are tons of TH-cam videos showing it as well. It works great for vertical presentations.
Could you explain why/when you would choose a slip float over a drop shot presentation? I am new, but to me they both seem to present the bait in the water column, so I don't really get the difference.
Don’t have much experience with a slip float. I’ve always used a peg style bobber, but I hope casting is easier for me and my kids without all the extra line if we make the switch. Smells like spring 😊.
Guys, today is a special day, Ethan had more than an hour to fish. All joking aside I'm introducing my girlfriend to Light Trout Fishing this week. I cannot wait to throw a mule jig, bro!
I'm curious if you have any opinion on one piece vs two piece rods, I recently just started fishing and been getting into ultra light stuff. I enjoyed your review of the Dobyns Sierra Trout and Panfish rod and it's convinced me to order it but can't seem to decide if I want to order the one or two piece rod. I also ordered a little batch of your mule fishing stuff I'm excited for it to arrive!
Personally, I think 1 vs 2 piece isn't a huge deal for good rods. I typically prefer a one piece because I have the space and I would rather avoid it coming apart, but my Dobyns is a 2 piece and I can barely tell. Plus you have the ability to break it down if you ever need to so that is nice. Some cheaper rods in multiple pieces can come apart easy or get crooked, but most high end multipiece rods don't have that issue.
@@FishAnything Thanks. But I know their only in Europe. But I am planning on picking up a Bone Voyage ultralight from Ali Express. In a couple of months
Nothing wrong with BFS but it just isn't as good for the style of fishing I do. I like BFS for tight quarters fishing with baits in the 1/16oz range. Stuff like river/creek fishing with lots of brush around. So ultimately, I feel BFS is pretty niche and not as versatile as spinning.
Wow those white perch are really similar to estuary perch in Australia. A holy grail one would be 50cm but anything over 40 is super good. Some say they are pound for pound THE best fighting fish in Australia. Which includes barramundi (also a perch species).
Pretty sure thill discontinued it, but if you can get a hold of some thill mini stealth floats. Absolute game changer for float n fly/ mini jigging. Show all the bites and bumps
Man I just don’t get it I can’t catch anything been doing a lot more UL so far and nothing I’m in pa and I see guys up your way catching them good and I just don’t get it out weather is pretty identical I’ve been throwing the slip float a lil jig on the bottom and nothing
Honestly that bothered me when editing the video. Sometimes, it is easier to spot stuff when you are looking for it. Always committed to keeping our waterways clean. Mule donates thousands of dollars every year to great organizations like American Rivers or Living Lands & Waters. Take a look at them when you get a chance - both awesome nonprofits.
Always a good time when one is on the water
Darn right!
Hey dude, just picked up a new ultralight rod, and thank you so much for introducing and inspiring me to ultralight fishing with your videos.
That is awesome! Thank you for watching - hope you catch a ton of fish on it :)

I dont like listening to music whilst im fishing, i like to hear the souunds around me & be one with nature Zen ..🫥
Totally fair!

Thank you Gary! Yeah, those White Perch are relentless man. They don't like to let go haha. Pike do the same thing!
Your videos are soo good, I chase Perch and Brown Trout here in Scotland. Great to watch
Thank you so much!!
Great video. I’m glad you’re catching some. My mule fishing order should be here tomorrow. I can’t wait to go fishing. I ran out of stuff last week.
Hope you crush fish on the gear! Thanks LBF :)

Thank you as always, Brian! I love a good slip float rig bite :)

Thank you Brando! I am glad you are liking the videos - holler if you ever have any questions!

I love fishing that rig, I've been using it with a DT jr for trout and it slays them!!! Lovin those new mule spinners too.
I love to hear it! Feel free to send pictures of the fish you catch any time. Always love seeing what folks catch :)
Now you’ve got that line from Billy Madison stuck in my head. When they keep leaving presents on the old man’s doorstep. “ Daggum it. It’s poop again”
Hahahahaha classic
That white perch was doing the same thing the yellow bass I catch around here do. They clamp down and don't want to give up the bait.
They are notorious for that!
Some constant action and they really your lure! Thanks for the info on rod and reel setup!
Thanks David! Tight lines :)
Heck yeah man, way to get it done!
Thanks Ramon :)
Have you heard of the mini magnet? I recommend you try it, it will catch the smallest of fish to the fattest jumbo perch and bluegill.
Sweet can’t wait to watch this after work thanks for the awesome content brotha ❤
Thank you for the ongoing support!
Great video as always
Thank you as always :)
I needed this.
Tight lines :)
Great video buddy. Love me some Fish Anything and some CWG!
Thank you Travis. He was phenomenal live. Definitely a big fan thanks to you!
How do you tie a loop knot? I think I see a loop knot on some of your set ups
I show it specifically in other ultralight slip float videos, but there are tons of TH-cam videos showing it as well. It works great for vertical presentations.
Mule Fishing Tackle, just bought me some and instant catch. 15 total bass today. Only color I don't have is Dakota Sunrise.
That is awesome to hear! Thank you so much for the support :)

Which of your rods is your favorite for throwing the mule jig?
My favorite ultralight is the Dobyns Sierra Trout & Panfish, but just about any true fast action ultralight does the job just fine with Mule Jigs :)
Don’t have much experience with a slip float. I’ve always used a peg style bobber, but I hope casting is easier for me and my kids without all the extra line if we make the switch. Smells like spring 😊.
The peg float is great for the shallower presentations. The slip float is a staple when presenting >3' deep
I know you have covered it before, but what brand are those glove thingys😁
Turtle Gloves!
I envy your open water :) Still frozen up here. I did a little re supply though and have an order from you on the way! Cheers!
Thank you very much! Hope the water thaws out soon so you can catch some :)

our water is warming u good here in southeast n.c. fishing is good
Love to hear it! Go get them :)

I appreciate the feedback. Looking forward to fishing some creeks with my new mule stuff when it comes on Thursday. Thanks again.
I see your using the Kuying Teton…rod review video coming out soon?
Rod review already exists! See it here: th-cam.com/video/T7hUyl5ZA6g/w-d-xo.html
@@FishAnything I just watched it! How does it compared to the TFO UL?
Hey I was wondering if you have tried a Spro freestyle skillz micro rod. Because I been trying to get one for pass 3years with no luck.
Interesting - I have never heard of it! I don't think these are available in the US market but I will keep my eyes out.
@@FishAnything Thanks. But I know their only in Europe. But I am planning on picking up a Bone Voyage ultralight from Ali Express. In a couple of months
White perch are related to white bass. The white perch are also pretty good to eat.
I will have to eat some one of these days!
What are you wearing as a glove??
Turtle Gloves - small company up here in Michigan. Nice folks, if you buy a pair, tell them I sent you!
Spring has sprung here! 80°
Wow! Go catch some fish buddy :)
I do on occasion use a very small rod combo with this rig and I do have to reach for the heavens on hook sets I always wondered what it looks like 😂
Haha yeah those hooksets have to be a bit aggressive if you have a lot of line out there. A little longer rod helps a lot.
Any reason why you stopped with the BFS gear?
Nothing wrong with BFS but it just isn't as good for the style of fishing I do. I like BFS for tight quarters fishing with baits in the 1/16oz range. Stuff like river/creek fishing with lots of brush around. So ultimately, I feel BFS is pretty niche and not as versatile as spinning.
do you use mono mainly?
I use a lot of braid and straight co-polymer (similar to mono). In this case, I was using 2lb Trilene Sensation Co-polymer

Not sure I am familiar with the TICA?
👊🎣 Yes ! Nice !

what about salt water qnd in when its hot
You just gonna leave that glove floating there the whole time aren't you...
Thank God. Never saw it again after the white perch. Was driving me insane. Kudos to you for keeping it clean!!
