Absolutley stunning. I grew up near the end of VHS production and CRTs so I've always had a fascination with them. This one really makes the colors pop! Nice job showing it off =)
If you got this tv on release, you were a good 20 years ahead of the rest of the world, considering 720p/1080i hadn't become standard among the public until 2007 or so.
Apparently, the first HD CRTs were made available to consumers in 1990, though the lowest price I've found for any of them is a little under 18,000 USD (equivalent in Japanese Yen). I'm not sure what kind of HD content was available in 1990, but this was obviously still not very mainstream, and I doubt that these "consumer" models differed much internally from professional CRTs. You may be surprised to learn that regular commercial analogue HD TV broadcasts (via satelite) started in Japan in 1994, with 1035 visible horizontal lines (so you could call it 1035i). Presumably there were some more affordable (but still very expensive) consumer HD CRTs available at this point in time. I have seen references to earlier forms of HD TV (higher definition than the standard types used in NTSC and PAL regions) which supposedly existed long before 1990, but I have found very, very little information on it, and am not sure what to believe.
