Steve - Ironically I was online with Dimitri with a simple issue on my 10/30W and when we were done I asked him about the side panel exhaust kit. He said to keep checking the website as they will be making them and sending them out in the middle of January. I went to TH-cam and saw your video and watched it. As soon as you gave the address I went there (while your video was still playing) and was able to PLACE an order with a projected delivery date of 1/20/24. Thanks for the notice buddy.

Already told Leo I wanted one and he said he would let me know.

I use the side exhaust as an access for the XTool fire extinguisher and a secondary camera mount.

Thanks for sharing this. I'm redesigning my Longer Ray exhaust fan. The fan comes out of the right side and the fan wouldn't seal to the case. This allowed most of the smoke/fumes to get in the room. The fan doesn't appear to be powerful enough to get fumes to the other end of the long hose, so I am coming out of the top, straight to the window. It will work until I can get the Lasermatic.

Thanks Hobo, just got my Mk2 30 watt for Christmas. I have the original 10 watt D1 xTool and the 20 watt D1 pro xTool. Wow this is such an amazing upgrade. Thanks to you and RICH for recommending this laser. I was able to snag the exhaust port mod a few minutes ago. It said 6 available on the website, but the confirmation email said it is on back order. I'm happy this is a very fair price. Thanks!

After I dropped this video, the few they had on order sold quickly. He will be making small batches as long as there is a demand. Just remember to use my link to help support the channel. For all your Roly needs, hobowithwood.com/roly

Pass this onto Leo. If the machine came with both holes (side and back) with the cover plate..Also extend the wiring harness connection where the fan connects to be able to reach the left side. That only leaves the aluminum tube, might as well throw that in as well.
Then it is all set up for right, left, and back right out of the box. This would eliminate the need for manufacturing optional parts, and inventorying those parts. It would probably be cheaper or break even in the long run, no extra manufacturing and handling or part storage.

For a temporary/permanment placement on the right side, since they are out of stock currently, just remove the right side panel, place inside Lasermatic and draw a circle & the screw holes for the mount, the same size as the back port is in Lightburn or etc., & cut it out on the Lasermatic.
Then remount the side panel back in, reattached exhaust mount and hose to the new position.
Now temporarily glue or use clear tape the cut out circle into the empty exhaust area on the back side panel???
Just an after thought from an Old Than Dirt Old Fart (OTDOF).

You're correct on that last statement. I had an Ortur and it was ok, but the MK2-30 is way above that. Sold the Ortur and absolutely love the MK2. So well built, and the support thus far has been off the charts.

Now, only if I had a Lasermatic MK2. Maybe, in a few more months.😄

Hi Steve. Good idea and good work. Not everyone can blow smoke out of the back of a laserbox. For example, I had to make a smoke outlet under the laser. Not only because of the space, but mainly because the fan near the laser head was getting clogged. He drove the exhaust fumes inside the box directly through the laser head and only then out of the box. It would stop spinning in a moment. The fan supplied by the manufacturer was not enough for my laser. So I wish you a lot of success in the new year and I look forward to your other videos, which you have taught me a lot. Lada

Thank you for your videos on the Roly. I would really like to see a 20w and 30w engraving comparison in 10w modes. Some small text would be interesting. I am about to order mine now, but I can not decided on bying the 20w or the 30w module.

In my opinion, after using both, go with the 30W. When you want to find detailed work, you'll use the 10W. Switch to the 30W for cutting. The additional power of the 30W for cutting is great to have. The 30W does have a larger spot size. But the only time I've discovered that spot size or kerf is a problem is when I'm making boxes. I've figured out a way to cut boxes with a uniform kerf. This makes the spot size irrelevant. In planning a video on finding explaining my method for cutting boxes. I'd appreciate it if you used my affiliate link, hobowithwood.com/roly

Now hold it, now hold it! You don’t know his cost model. His inventory, his location to suppliers, etc. I and you can only assume this guy knows what he’s doing.

    How is xtool support?

My experience was horrible. The last time I tried to contact them I waited forever for a reply. I finally replaced my laser with a different brand. I am not making this up. One year later after I contacted xTool for support they followed up with me to see if I still needed help. I am not a fan of xTool at all.

If it's not available, just cut a piece of 1/8" plywood with your laser.

    • @HoboWithWood
      @HoboWithWood  19 วันที่ผ่านมา

That will work for covering the existing hole, but what about the relocation holes. You could take the time to locate the mounting holes and exhaust holes in a piece of plywood, but then instead of a beautiful piece of technology, it would look like something Jethro Clampett would use.
