The part about nights out with the team would have made me leave. I spend at least eight hours a day with these morons, I sure don't want to waste my me time with them.

@@deliveryguy7402 yep, they get at least 8 of the most prime hours of your life at least five days a week, and then they want more, just so some millionaire or billionaire can get even richer and the company can make 120 million this year vs. 100 million last year.

Another red flag is “Our employees are our greatest asset.” I worked for a pipeline company, and they were constantly telling us that. I stood up in a meeting and asked if they would sell their gas wells. They said no, why would we do that. I asked if they would sell their compressor stations. Again, they said no, not seeing where I was going. I asked if they’d sell the pipeline. Of course, they said no. Then I asked, then why have you just laid off 2000 of your greatest assets? Never believe anything they say.

Remember when you worked during the summer to buy the latest playstation and your parents forced you to share with your younger brother? "We are a family, you should be sharing something that you earned entirely on your own".
That type of family sharing always happens. But when the stock price goes down and they decide to cut 5% of the workforce to save bonuses for the executive leadership team, try asking them how this is "like a family"?

Dude, work is work. I work to live. They aren't my friends, they aren't my family they are co-workers. I'm a professional.. and hopefully so are they.
We should get along. We should do our jobs. We should not have a family dynamic.
"Family" is management speak for trying to get weak minded people feeling 'at home' in a company.. as is all that team building drivel she mentioned.
I already have a family, I don't need another one, don't want another one.. and the only reason I'm selling my skills and service is because I need money.
That is what a job is.. YOU are selling your skills, knowledge, service and labor for money.

Because typically what winds up being the case is employees end up being asked and expected to make the free overtime, weekend work, and being on-call sacrifices, but the employer rarely reciprocates with positives like steady advancement in pay, extra vacation time, or protection against layoffs.
It's "family" when it benefits the boss, not the employee.
