  • After spending hours and hours trying different things to remove my stuck control arm bolts, this method worked for me. Had to use the good reciprocating blades to make it happen. Hoping this saves people from the heartache I went through!

Diablo blades no joke. They make wood shop carbide tipped blades and they are the only thing I put on my table saw, miter box and circular saw. They cut through oak and any other hardwoods like butter. I don’t know why I didn’t check to see if they made other styles of blades. I’ll definitely have to give these a shot for my frozen lower strut mount bolt. Thanks for sharing!!!

Tbh i just replaced the shocks and the lower control arms that the bolt was seized in. So i didn’t end up needing to cut the bolt that was seized but i kept the blades anyways

Thanks for the straight forward video and the thoughts on the Diablo thick metal blades. I had some ceased bolts on the rear track arms of a 2011 BMW 328 in western PA. Thank God I found some at a local place and tried them against several Lowes blades that I had on hand and the difference was amazing. The Lowes ones were binding and one actually broke. The Diablo blade went through the bolt and the side of the arm. By the way I was using the same Harbor Freight $20 dollar saw. Thanks again!

I was getting ready to have a shop remove the bolt for me because I felt stuck. Gonna head to hardware store to pick this up ASAP. Thanks.

Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Was stuck in a bind yesterday went to buy the Diablo blades but all out. Had to go with the Milwaukee similar to the Diablo ones. Hope they work. But ordered the Diablo ones will use these from now on.

Looks like I need to try this blade. I’ve been stuck on this for days. I was using the Diablo vehicle dismantling blade but that did do it.

I was trying to remove bolts from 2009 ram 1500. After hours, I watched this video and did the same. In few minutes I cut all bolts w Diablo. At the end, checking the bolts I notice that it would be impossible to me to remove them. Thank you for your video!

I'm glad it helped you! Sounds very similar to my situation with the control arm bolts completely seized inside the bushings. No way those were coming out.

I am also working on a 2010 ram my question to you is, is the bushing salvageable after you cut the bolt off. I have want to cut my bolt but i dont think i could get the bushing out of the lower control arm to replace it.

Thanks for this video! I'm going threw the same situation on my 2013 Subaru Legacy 3.6r Limited. I was trying to figure out what tool to use properly to cut the bolt off since I don't have a plasma cutter. I've never heard of those Sawzall blades before but I am going to look them up thanks again.

Thanks for watching, and I'm glad the video helped you. My reciprocating saw was something like $16 from Harbor Freight. The Diablo blades were about $30 for a 3 pack at Home Depot.

I just used a Diablo blade exactly like that one to cut thru a lower shock mounting bolt and I was done in 5 minutes, what I had spent hours trying to do the day before.

Those Diablos were also the best at cutting cast iron pipe, at least 50% faster than the Milwaukee Cast Iron blades.

I bought them from my local Lexus dealer. They were roughly $20 each iirc. You can also find them on eBay.

Check eBay and junkyards. Also check the part number and see if it was used on another vehicle for which it is still available.

Did you cut both sides of the bolt? I found that necessary to get the control arm out.

The bolts you cut off cost more then the control arm itself

    • @thomasdowd2183
      @thomasdowd2183  ปีที่แล้ว +4

False. The bolts cost about $20 each at a Lexus dealership. A new control arm is a few hundred dollars. But none of that matters anyway because the bolts are stuck and need to be removed one way or another.
