I went with Hue and have been pretty happy with them. I use "white" more often than color so makes sense for me. I also like all the Hue accessories like the battery-less wall switches. Having physical controls that don't need batteries is the way to go. Using an app on your phone is fine for special effects etc. but for daily use it's not workable. You don't want to have to stop what you are doing and pull out your smart phone just to walk into a room, read a book, cook something, etc. You just want to hit a switch on the wall like your regular lights. No batteries = no stress. Best system IMO for real world lighting in the average home or workspace.
This is exactly the comment I was looking for. App-only control is just not good enough for me if I really want regular use of these things. I think I need to read more about those Hue accesories.
Most people live on their phones so their all good and is workable if you use your phone often and if your not at that room you can turn them on before even reaching the room
I LOVE the lights under the bed. I actually saw it recommended with motion sensors as a safety feature for smart homes. Would be extra great for seniors, kids, and those of us with stuff on the floor that we step on all the time, up I also think it looks slick.
Wow, this is the kind of video I've been trying to find for a while. I hate those videos that just give the top 10 and basically read off the Amazon store listing. Thanks for showing us with a hands on review of so many
Really appreciate the input on this video! I just came over from Paul's channel and had a good laugh and your comment about him & Philips Hue haha. Best of luck with your channel!
This guy should get an award for his painstaking efforts to put the spot light on these products. The companies should be contacting now if I were them. I'm off to Amazon for some purchases!
Thank you so much for this video!!! I felt so lost looking for good quality and not overly expensive LED light strips. A lot of my friends have them but they only told me they got them for amazon and they have no idea what brand they are :( so thank you for this detailed and thorough comparison!
I just built a 92 ft strip for under my deck railing. I used a brand called BTF and they have a very comprehensive offering of addressable led strip, You can use multiple controllers as long as you tell the controller the RGB sequence. It was no big deal and very affordable.
Please keep doing these videos. with all different types of smart home devices. I already have the Govee Dreamcolors that you have marked as best budget but i love seeing the comparisons. I love Govee as a brand and i hope you continue to use them in your comparison videos
I was ready to buy strips for a simple set up in yhe kitchen... now you sparked such an excitement for the posibilities and other aplications i can use these for!!!! Thank you!
I got some for my birthday weeks ago and they stick like a charm. Nothing was wrong with them at all. If you have semi-new paint and/or old paint with drywall underneath I would recommend not putting the lights on it because it will destroy your drywall where you stick the adhesive. The adhesive is very strong. If you have a molding around your door or closet, i recommend putting it on the molding. Hope this helps 😊
MarCov uhh yea they fell after an hour😭 and I bought a pack of two and the second strip of LED lights didn’t work💀 I didn’t bother buying them again lmao
Thank you for taking all of the time to do all of the testing for all of these LED strips! We're building a new house and planning on doing about 75ft of LED strips on the main floor, including under and above kitchen cabinets, and in aluminum channels with diffusers along the edges of rooms. I've narrowed it down to Lifx, TP Link, and Govee. I can't seem to find TP Link strips that are long enough, and Lifx is insanely expensive at that length. Do you think the Govee RGBWW would be bright enough for under cabinet lights?
This is exactly what most of us need, that k you! Do you have any recommendations for fully waterproof LED strips that don’t require WiFi? Been looking for lights to go around my pool deck but it’s a little far for my WiFi signal
Thanks! Hmmm I'll have to look into fully waterproof ones. If you're looking for some accent lighting in the pool the Loftek ball is pretty cool that it just floats in the pool. You can control it with the remote amzn.to/2Q0BLm9
Excellent and informative content as usual. My name is not Hibbert, I have more Hue strips than I'd like to admit, and since I use them more for RGB than white I'm usually disappointed with their performance. It's great to know how the others perform before buying into another platform. Any plans to review RGB downlights anytime soon? Currently have a few Sylvania Osram Smart+ fixtures that aren't the greatest with colors.
The only negative about the Govee Dreamcolor is the thick silicone waterproof coating (impossible to install clean right angles) and there are no compatible connectors as it’s 12 volt based but only has 3 connectors, so don’t think you can get them and cut them and re-use the leftover. It’s extremely bright and super vivid though and the interchangeable strips are now available for the WiFi version now because I have them. I must say it’s incredible and they’re awesome. Built very well. They’re just not the best for bedroom wall use as the limited flexibility comes into play. I’m going to add on the standard smart Govee RGB to my setup since they’re more flexible and compatible to 4 pin connectors unless I can come up with a solution for the 3 pin Dreamcolor version because it is the bomb
This is an example of a perfect comparison video! Here I was thinking "Why does it have to be 9 minutes long?" But this was just perfect. Thanks for the all the info, I too like the TP Link light strip the best. Keep it up!
