  • I bought a 350z differential with aftermarket Central20 3.916 final drive gears. To make it work on my G37, I need to swap the stub axles. I also went ahead and installed Z1 bushings and Z1 diff cover.

    What happens if you don’t swap the stubs? I have a 350z hr with a m/t. I want to put the 370 nismo 3.9 differential in

      Joseph Rizzo , thanks for checking in on the video.
      I believe the sensor is for your rear speeds, and also for abs and vdc. If you want to delete your abs and vdc then you won’t need to swap it.

    So, the portion of the shaft that goes inside the assembly is identical as far as size, threats, etc is concerned between one out of a 350Z and one out of a G37, but it’s only the number of teeth on the outside that differs, hence why they can be swapped? I ask because I have a 2004 350Z and just took possession of a differential out of a 2008 G37 and am debating whether or not to swap these flanges / stub axles. Thanks.

      Yes, both are the same length given that both are VLSD or both are open. pops out and goes in the same.

      ProjectPanda13 is it an optical illusion or does the shaft of the stub axle seem longer/shorter in one compared to the other? Are they different lengths based on side (passenger side vs driver side) or G35 vs G37? Ref. min 7:15

    • @ProjectPanda13
      @ProjectPanda13  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yea, they are different lengths. I believe even the open diffs are like this.

    Hey what’s up. I got a 2007 G35 sedan. Took differential out. And I want to put in a 370Z 6spd VLSD got it used. But In order to make it work in the G35 I have to
    •1-pop the stub axles on both diffs so we can swap them case
    G35 axle Stubs to 370Z diff (new diff)
    •2 - take off the G35 3 bolt flange and and put it on the 370Z Diff because the 370Z has a 4 bolt flange.
    •3 - cut shaft where 3 bold flange bolts in to so it will fit drivetrain right. Has to be cut about 1 inch 3/8ths. That’s is what I have read on some forum. And seeing ur vid

    • @ProjectPanda13
      @ProjectPanda13  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Bam Bam , thanks for checking my video out.
      1 - correct, The stub axles is because of the teeth count for the sensor
      2 - correct, automatics had 3 bolts flanges while manuals had 4.
      3 - I am not sure on this part. Since my swap was from a manual to manual. I’ll do some searching to see what I find also

    So just to clarify, you used the 350z LSD diff. You installed the G37 non-LSD stub axels into the 350z LSD? I’m curious because as a understand you would need VLSD long stub axels from a VLSD g37. I guess using non-vlsd stubs worked for you?

      Just make sure the g37 diff has the same input flange to match your 370z. 4 bolt is manual and 3 bolt for auto.

    I’ve got a mt g37 drift build and I was thinking about swapping my diff for a 350 only because 2nd gear runs off limiter and 3rd gear bogs, with the 350 diff would you say the gearing feels longer or shorter?

    • @ProjectPanda13
      @ProjectPanda13  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      the manual 350z has a final drive of 3.5, the auto 350z is 3.4. you manual g37 is 3.6 final drive ratio. both 350z FD are longer gearing than your manual g37.
      mine is unique because I got my 350z diff with aftermarket gearing at 3.9 for a shorter FD

    Bro you never did a video explaining the differences you felt. I know it had to have been noticeable. Going from a 3.5 (I think that’s what you said was the old one) to a 3.9. You should feel the difference plus’s the much sharper and responsive torque transfer to the rear wheels because you did the bushings too.

    • @ProjectPanda13
      @ProjectPanda13  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the idea. For some reason I completely to make a review/explanation video.
      I’ll be sure to put one together. There is for sure a difference in acceleration. Each gear rpm was raised about 500 rpm or so for the same given speed.
      I have more power at certain rpm that I don’t need to downshift anymore at specific speeds.
      It’s the perfect compromise for acceleration and top end speed.

    What would I have to do to make a 350z Hr open diff to fit a g37 with VSLD

    • @ProjectPanda13
      @ProjectPanda13  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      thanks for stopping in on this video.
      the physical diff itself will install directly into your g37. But the ring tone gears on the stub axles have a different count on the 350z vs your g37. if you want your sensor to read correctly, you need to swap the stub axles from your g37 to the 350z diff.
      But your g37 is VLSD, the stub axles are different than an open diff stub axles. you need to find a se tof open diff stub axles form a g37/370z and install those into that 350z diff
      are you doing this for the gearing?

    • @ProjectPanda13
      @ProjectPanda13  5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      King David , thanks for the support.
      From what I understand, the flanges differ between years only due to using bolt and nut to tie the flange to axle vs just a bolt that threads into the axle.
      Also make sure your stub axles are either open or VLSD. The two are different.
