This is a really valuable contribution to Project Managers who want to see what a real career trajectory looks like. Mileage may vary, but this does show the real ups and downs that people should be prepared for.
Thanks Mike, I really hope that it helps - especially those starting a career in project management. There are so many variables that can impact income, I think I covered the main ones here. It will be interesting in the years to come to see what impact a preference for remote working will have on salaries.
Stuart's got a great channel here
The kind of advice that makes you wish to be born again:-) Most admirably coming thru though, money as a life force, not just a transaction tool! Love your good humor, Stuart, and the sheer energy exuding from all you do....
Wow, thank you! You’re so kind :-)
Thanks for sharing this! You have a great way of putting things accross and it's really refreshing to see such honesty. Keep it up and good luck in your current role!
You're welcome, and thank you for the kind feedback.
Very insightful video. Totally enjoyed it
That’s great! Thank you.
Nice content, very encouraging 👏
Thank you 🙌 I’m glad you enjoyed it
i see professional honest man. i subscribed 😊🎉😊
Thank you ☺️
Thank you for sharing. At present time considering future career step. Local Council currently considering returning to NHS or contracting option better pay.
Great video, I’m a project manager in London. Have been for a 3ish years. Would be great if you could do a q&a. I earn well-ish but know I can earn more :)
I think such career are in demand but are also underrated.
trying to get an entry role maybe a project support or project coordinator.
Just wondering if you could do a quick video on the books you have on the shelves behind you .......... Thanks.
Excellent idea! Not sure it would be a quick one, but I’ll see what I can do!
Great informative video thank you. 2 questions where do you find temp jobs? Any short courses you would recommend? Thank you in advance ☺️
Thanks for the feedback. I look on Jobserve mostly; but I’ve never actually landed an advertised role. Usually I get approached by recruiters.
As for short courses, it’s hard to say without knowing a lot more about the individual.
@@InfluentialPMO thank you so so much for taking time to respond. In relation to the course my background is in finance retail, just finished a law degree but landed a PMO job in finance payments , with zero experience in the sector hence looking around to learn.
Stay blessed 🙌
Hello Stuart, do you think that it’s hard to move out from a particular business type I.e construction or do you think being able to prove that you can run successful projects allows you to transfer across business types? I’m currently in construction and seem to have only construction type job offers, but looking to move into more digital or IT based projects.
Project management helps us to transfer between sectors, though there are some roles that require some knowledge or experience of the sector before they'll bring you in for interview - especially if there's a lot of competition already in that sector. The answer is, like Steve Martin says, be so good they can't ignore you.
Thank you so much for sharing
I am finding it so hard to get a project management role, after qualifying five months ago. I have an NHS background
Hey, thanks for feeding back, I appreciate it. It can be tough to break into a new profession. I made this video with some tips on how to do it for project management - please watch and let me know how you progress. I’m looking forward to hearing that you got your first PM role!

NHS England have loads of PM roles going. I am interviewing for a PM role this week.
Good luck! 👍
@@InfluentialPMO Thanks meant I am on the interviewers panel interviewing candidates. Your videos helped me to secure my PM role. 🙂
I think “good luck” is applicable there too. 😉 Hope you’ve got some good candidates.
If ever you fancy jumping on a call to made a video explaining how you choose a candidate in a PM role, let me know!
Hey, have you got a video on job hunting and the best way to find attractive roles. if it already exists please link me!
I made a whole course about it! 😀 It returns this summer: geni.us/FindYourNextPMJob
Tha´t true, as contractor I just didn´t double my base salary, I triple it!!, Then became a direct employee and the increase in salary as been shy. Of course, some benefits came once I become employee, like the insurance, savings program, etc.
It can be life changing amounts of money - and then you're in a great position to make better judgements about future roles. It sounds like we've had a similar journey.
How can I get projects in contract? Please let me know.
I explained my path to contracting here: th-cam.com/video/BmS8MvgpF4c/w-d-xo.html
"The risk of a contractor with the salary of a perm" - sounds awful lol
Worst of both worlds! 😬
What PM qualifications do you have? :)
Over the years I’ve held PRINCE2,MSP, P3O, MoR
@InfluentialPMO hi, did you do it in that order?
@@F_Dot_ I think so. The P3O and MoR may have been the other way round.
@@stuarttaylor9620 thanks 👍
