    Made as directed w/one or two exceptions out of necessity: no smoked paprika so I used a combination of paprika & Cajun seasoning. I love peas but substituted Lima beans as it's what I had on hand. Result: Really Tasty! Thanks for a simple, delicious recipe.

    thank you for this recipe! i made some of my own mods like others: i browned the sausage slices first in the oil & then added the onion, garlic & green pepper, the water coming out of the onion will help to deglaze the bottom, make sure you scrape! for seasonings, i did sea salt, white pepper, paprika, cumin, garlic powder, cayenne & added 2 bay leaves before cooking. i had frozen okra so i did those instead of peas, came out very creole/cajun - loved it

    This is a great 'I am rushed' meal. I usually buy a few packages of kielbasa from ALDI and keep them in the freezer. They thaw quickly and the whole meal comes together quickly. I love the flavour and the dog tries to open the fridge door to steal leftovers. I may try the cajun spice as someone mentioned earlier for a little diversity.

      Thank you so much! Typically, I shop once a week, but we’ll do bulk shopping once a month or so. Sometimes I’ll add to our stock of water. Grocery shopping videos... I’ve considered doing them. Maybe I need to add those to the list.

    Through

    • @MelLockcuff
      @MelLockcuff  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      David, this would likely turn the peas to mush. They have plenty of time to cook adding them in during the last step as the recipe states. I hope this helps.

    Looks great, Mel. Gonna make it, for sure, but, with a few mods, if I may, e.g., saute/brown the sausage first, then add the onion and garlic (infuse and ramp up the flavor); don't forget to scrape the fond!. Then, I'll follow your directions. IMO, I wouldn't stir the ingredients (after adding the rice), but, rather, just submerge the rice to prevent possible burn notice. Looks great and a full meal, like you stated.

    I did not know that Arkansas grew rice. I’ve seen it growing in Louisiana and Texas.

    • @MelLockcuff
      @MelLockcuff  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Yes, rice makes up the state's second-highest-value commodity, and it's also Arkansas' top agricultural export. I've seen it growing just about everywhere when traveling through the eastern part of the state. Very fascinating...
