Indoor karting is often like this especially in open events. Its good for learning some racecraft but outdoor is much more competitive, and less crashy.
Great to see you back! Funnily enough, this is my experience of the Brum track on 342s every time I go. I just thought I was unlucky... but always have to give a shoutout to Colin at the track, he always tries his best to sort it out when sessions are like this.
Have to agree with Chris here, 342's somehow manage to find some real idiots (is there a special mailing list?!) and I generallly avoid them now at B'ham. Having said that the current managment set-up has been changed recently and they are doing a great job in revitalising the venue and improving staff performance/relations. Still some way to go (and there's always exceptions), but definitely on the up - let's hope it continues. I've been going there for 6+ years now. Oh, and good to see you back Gav!

I'm at Liverpool this week and without thinking nearly booked myself into the public 50 lap. Had not had a drop to drink and thought blimey what am I doing ha ha ha. Just need to use my loyalty points between Monday members and Thursdau Hot pursuit. Well Gav at least we all got a great chance to see the close up scenery.
Happens to me virtually every time I go to TeamSport Birmingham during an evening. Usually seems to be the same calibre of person there every time; don’t understand what the flags mean, don’t know what the brake does and don’t care too much about no contact. Recently when I’ve been it has always been delayed thanks to a roof leak on the upper level. Always have thought Marshall’s are inept there as well in comparison to my local venue, Coventry. They really need to sort that place out

You do get those sessions, not just in Hire karts, I had one last weekend in a Qually session, unable to get a clean run, leave a big gap to the kart in front, they then make a mistake again and lap ruined, try to pass, front wheels contacted by them not seeing me on run into of a corner on the inside, back out or end up on a massive ripple strip, leave a bigger gap they then make more mistakes..... Grrrr.
Had a very similar experience with the Mrs at Nottingham last night. Ive got a membership at Leicester and even she is now considering a membership to start doing members nights. We aren't the quickest but would be more enjoyable!! But it is great to see you back again Gav. I hope all is well!! Hopefully see you at Leicester at somepoint, ill let you through!!

Had an experience like this at Bristol 342 (Friday) recently. 8 laps on a 39 sec lap, one flyer. Fortunately Teamsport had the decency to give us our money back!
Usually the 2nd session goes slightly better as the novices get more used to the track and karts. Sadly on one occasion at Docklands a group of excited Japenses tourists who didn't speak English signed into our session. One couldn't pass the pedals break test so wasn't allowed out on track for session 1. Session 1 saw every single lap yellow or red flagged. For session 2 they let the guy in who they'd banned from the first session. He crashed all over the place, bringing out red flag after red flag in that second session. So in 2 sessions I managed 1 flying lap.
Unfortunately this is what 90% of public sessions are like at Brum. Staff have got a lot better at picking up on things quicker but the kind of people that book on don't seem to change
I find it funny now my 8 year old is doing the cadet beginners sessions and last time there was only 1 red on both 15min sessions. They were racing clean, fast and respectful to one another, then the adult sessions started. nothing but red flags, corner bombing and meeting up with their mate Barry R.

There's something about #14 karts at TeamSport. I had three sessions at the Nottingham venue last night and one dickhead in the #14 kart there was just constantly ramming into people. He got sin-binned 8 times in 15 minutes. I do hope he never made it back home safe.
that happened to me yesterday and i got black flagged cuz someone cut in front of me and i nearly accidentally spun them out, however, the guy that i spun out after looked at me started swearing and than crash in to the wall. And take in mind i am 14 and that guy 50
At my first time karting It was in 2022 And I got rammed into and it made my kart do a full 180 This was 1st session, and it was the first ramp, 10 seconds in I held my hand up for 20 seconds No one came So I tried to free myself And I did. (Edit) i caused no red flags Or yellow flags And there were only 3 or 4 red flags 1 was caused after they realised my brother had crashed 2nd session So yeah When I pulled up next to my brother I slowed down Screamed haha and sped off.

Its always the same at birmingham. Its pointless going unless youve booked it for a private race etc with your friends, or go on a members night. Its what made me sign up to be a member back when i used to go all the time. Would go loads and youd end up averaging about 10 laps in 15 mins every single time. Get a lot of jumped up idiots that think theyre michael schumacher, or you get genuinely un-safe people on the track that just ruin the experience for everyone. But hey, it is just an indoor track, but it is annoying ofcourse when youve paid money to have fun.
Been here twice... 1st time = in the 30 mins total track time no less than 10 Red flags. Thought I would give another try, 2nd time... I was warned for over taking "TOO QUICKLY" on the amateurs (I didn't make any contact with anybody, I have been karting 100s of times) when I refused to admit that my driving was dangerous the 17 year old female marshal said to me " go slower or you will be removed" I said "no, I'm here to race" she then had a power trip and Black flaged me. Terrible place... they don't want racing there unless you pay extra to get whole track to yourselves...
Worst karting venue I've been to!! Had a very similar experience and to top it of my chain came off on the top section, lost 3 laps before a marshall spotted me....

This is terrible and dangerous for everyone on the track. I blame the track staff for not handling the situation. I get that they paid for a session. But…. If they can’t keep control of their kart or maintain a minimum speed they should be black flagged with possibly a refund. To keep them out there only makes the regulars that paid for their session upset and like I said the main reason is safety for everyone. Especially when these karts do 40+mph
I wouldn’t have kept my temper I would have had to get out and leave whiteout paying, the marshals in my karting place would have disqualified them in the first ten mins
me and 6 other friends went on friday at 6:50 and we didnt have a single yellow or red flag the whole 2 sessions. mainly because there wasnt anyone else but us and we all knew how to race cleanly.
So are those carts stopping automatically when you have a red flag? It almost seems as though they all shut down at one time. Damn brother you need to buy you a cart and come out here to Indiana and racing this series out here. It's all that people's homes and it's like a league well it is a league and it'll be cheaper than what you're doing there and a lot more fun and a lot more power. Some of those carts those guys are running 20 to 30 and even one has supposedly 50 horsepower. They are badass and about $2,000 you can get started and have a lot of fun and not have to worry about all the bull crap.
oh no! i just booked a 342 open session at brum for this friday looking at this video and the comments, i'm in for some very stationary racing if it is anything like this then it's time to get membership and leave the open sessions behind 👍
"When it's yellow light, you cannot overtake" - Marshal *Guy trying to overtake then complains* I don't know how the flag marshal didn't just straight up rip the guy from his kart told him to take everything off and proceed to toss him out of the venue for arguing, we did karting in Canada and the instructional video said any breaking of the flag rules would lead to consequences, flag marshals word is final, if you receive an instruction just listen, it's not hard, smh, honestly you are told how the sessions work before you get dressed in safety gear, maybe pay attention to the instructional video or training next time huh guys then you'll know yellows mean slow down and no overtaking like every other racing series🙄 terrible conduct by everyone in your group, must've been really frustrating to do these sessions

look up k1 racing and see if u can give them advice on how to make what they are trying to do successful.they dont even like people to pass unless its easy to do so.

Birmingham is only good at members nights, useless at open karting just seems to always be the bad drivers. I'm there pretty much every Thursday.
you should do a 50 lap at farnborough since you need to strat more due to the face you do a kart change since they are electric

U should really try TeamSport/Scotkart Dundee. Can either be the best sessions or the absolute worst. Exciting track tho

the Rules in the UK are the same as in Canada for Karting right? Because I could swear over hear in Canada Yellow flags means no passing?

In belgium when someone crashes its a yellow flag but you can just go fast still these english rusles are bullshit
That's why I never race indoors. Clueless people always ruins it.

If you do end up googling what a chode is, make sure you have safe search off and go in to the images tab for the best experience.
