    Ive been watching bag tutorial videos lately. I was so giddy to see people still use the templates I designed years ago that are sold through That Template Shop. Your tutorials are awesome.

      I love that the YT community doesn't have this weird competition between creators. We all have different ways of teaching and explaining how things work. Everyone benefits from the differing perspectives! On Twitch, there's a lot more "drama" when streamers do the same or similar things as it's a fight for live viewers.

      I don't think it'll look weird! If there's enough room for it on the sides, give it a try? Usually when I'm not sure, I'll make it first out of some super cheap vinyl or canvas.

    Could I use fabric? I am thinking if using an applique technique with decobond, sewing around the outer and inner edges.

    • @fiercekittenz
      @fiercekittenz  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      You could, just have to make sure you do something to ensure the raw edges are finished in some manner.

  • @AChippendale
    @AChippendale ปีที่แล้ว

    This is a super useful and very amusing tutorial. Could you do another using fabric rather than vinyl? Or at least give some advice? Bunching corners and hours of my life lost trying to make welts look professional. I like this technique and am going to try it today!

    • @fiercekittenz
      @fiercekittenz  ปีที่แล้ว +3

      So for the overlay you'd definitely want to stick to vinyl or leather. I wouldn't advise doing anything with canvas or wovens in general there. You could put this on top of woven though and not worry about any of the raw edges showing. They'll get encased! In fact, I did several leading up to this tutorial that were in canvas.

    • @AChippendale
      @AChippendale ปีที่แล้ว

      @@fiercekittenz not even with some stabiliser and thermo-collant ? I've been doing experiments with fusing fabric to plastic to see how it behaves. I think it's possible but it would have to be very stable and not frey. But I just need to try. That's the part of bag making I really love is solving problems, finding new and better techniques. Just found your channel and I'm really enjoying the tutorials. Let your freak flag fly.

      No, it is also sewn into the panel of the bag when you topstitch both inner and outer portions.

    wondering why you put the tape at the top, doesn't this mean you are sewing over the tape? IAnd doesn't it gum up your needle? it does on mine. would put it in the middle so you do not have to sew either line on the tape. comments?
