It’s great when you make these separate little nuggets of video tutorials for when you need to have another quick look at how she did that 🤔 but can’t recall which bag video you saw it in. Thanks again Lauren. 😊
Glad to see someone else pulling threads to the back. I’ve been doing that forever, especially on a customer bag. I hate seeing backstitching on the right side of a finished item. Love all your videos.
I absolutely love this method. I’ve been doing it for about a year now. I love the look it gives the inside of bags & love how it’s just so simple. EDIT- After you put the zipper on one side of the pocket, if you lay the panel flat down & crease the zipper so it’s it’s slightly folded over the top, like how it will lay inside the bag, the stitch along the the line (or right next to it), it helps the zipper lay flat when your adding it to the back of the zipper facing. And you can’t see the stitch lines since it’s hidden. Also if you leave the bottom open (have 2 pieces instead of just one), you can lay your zipper pocket open, make sure everything is flat & smooth, then you can stitch all the way around the zipper facing to enclose it & not have to stitch one line at the bottom, flip it down, start stitching from where you left off at, up the side, around the top & back around to where you started. It’s just one stitch line all around.
Thank you for this tutorial. I struggle with zipper pockets, so any help is appreciated. I love your teaching style and little tips and tricks. Thank you!
I agree that this is also my favorite way to do a zipper pocket. I have used this method several times and each time it turned out perfect. Thank you for sharing your expertise with us. You make my bag making experience so much more enjoyable!
So far, your method is my favorite! I really enjoy your tutorials. Keep 'em comin'! You also make a great version of Oro Rosa's Catalina bag. I loved that one, too. Love how you make it look so easy.
Thanks! I just saw this on OklaRoots tutorial of Ojyma bag and love the look. I struggle with the other method that turns the pocket through the cutout box. This looks much cleaner to me
Hi. Love this method and am definitely going to try it. I'm currently building my bag making skills and have found your tutorials very useful, entertaining and just lovely to watch. So ... thank you. Nx
I have some material in my stash that will be exactly perfect for this attempt of me trying to copy you. THNX A LOT. Still get compliments from pens I bought from you and gave as Christmas gifts last year :)
I tried to make my first zipper pocket yesterday, did not come out. I like how you did this, never seen those zipper boxes before. I will have to look for those, thanks
I watch all your tutorials while I'm making bags. You do such a great job and your merchandise is fantastic! Will you start selling thread anytime soon?
My fave way also. First saw early version demo’d by “akie 1010” in Japan about 4 years ago. Have since modified it to what you are doing now. Great technique. Thank you, Lauren. Dorothy not the only one enamored by DST - my cats love it! Lol
I just made a pocket like this yesterday using a different method. It wasn't "hard* but this definitely would've made it easier! I know for next time 😊 Thanks!!!!
I'll have to try this next time! It does seem a bit easier. I dont know what it is about toddlers and double sided tape but mine thinks its fun too lol
YES!! Meeeee toooo! I've been doing mine this way ever since I learned from Chris @ Simply Classic! It's so much neater & definitely quicker, in my opinion. Non of that cut the little v @ the end & turn it thru & blah blah blah! 😂. Thanks Lauren
Love this way of doing the pockets ☺️ also I like the “old” camera view better that the “over head view” don’t get me wrong I like the new view too, just like the old view better 😁
Hey Lauren get outta my head!! I was looking last night for a video JUST like this for a bag I'm doing today for Halloween using the new "the One" templates I got yesterday! Thank you! 😊
I use the same method but with a facing that is turned to the wrong side of the lining rather than the overlay. The overlay looks like it will lay flatter so I’ll try it on my next few bags. I may be a convert.😊
I like this method also but I use a facing when it's for a lining pocket. I always cut one pocket piece one inch shorter so I don't need to cut it after.
I find it WAY easier to put the zipper lining top piece, back sides together, with the overlay and sew as one. Then cut away the opening and sew in the zipper. Then add the other pocket to the back. Done.
Great video! Thanks so much! Question: where did you buy the zipper piece you use to place the teeth. I am missing two finger that this would be amazing! It looked so easy how the pulls when in. Thanks in advance. :)
On the vinyl pocket overlay does yours have a white polyester backing? My vinyl does is it the wrong vinyl because when I cut it you can still see the white backing ....it's marine vinyl wrong kind?
Would you please list the materials and products you use and links to them? This would very helpful and a lot less frustrating. I spend hours online looking for the stuff you use amongst the millions of products online. As an example, I want to start using vinyl in the purses I make but I don't know where to start. There are thousands of brands and types of vinyl out there. So which kind do I use for the zippered pocket overlay, marine vinyl, glitter vinyl, other ones?

Easy to understand the process. This is my first overlay. I'm using it in my Oxford tote.
Hi Lauren-I think your next merch slogan should be "the pattern is only a suggestion". 😊 Great tutorial, as always.
I totally agree, I never do the pattern exactly, I always change it to my own choices/preferences, like 3 patterns combined. Love Lauren’s tutorials.
Perfect
This is my favorite way to do a pocket also! I’ve tried all kinds of ways and this one wins for sure.
Glad to see someone else pulling threads to the back. I’ve been doing that forever, especially on a customer bag. I hate seeing backstitching on the right side of a finished item. Love all your videos.
OMG!! That is AWESOME!! It makes so much sense!! Thank you.
Love to watch you sew, Lauren!

I learned this method from Erica and her Lavender & Twine patterns. I love this way of doing zipper pockets.
I’ve seen so many videos trying to explain how to do this and this one is thee best! I’ve got it now, so thank you
Thanks! I just saw this on OklaRoots tutorial of Ojyma bag and love the look. I struggle with the other method that turns the pocket through the cutout box. This looks much cleaner to me

Wow! You read my mind. I was just looking for an easy method to do a zipper like this. Thanks!!!

Very informative video!!getting all prepared for this Saturday in Tukwila
I can’t wait to try this! I think I will use your zipper template for it. I will just draw around outside and cut!
I’ll have to give this a try, looks easier. Thanks for sharing ❤
This is brilliant! Thank you!
Thanks for this helpful Video. I think I can do this! I only have trouble with peeling the paper off double
sided tape! My nemesis! Haha
Hahaha, always love your videos, informative and humorous. "Flat, make sure its flat". Will definitely try this method.
Love it. Thank you very much for sharing.

I use the same method but with a facing that is turned to the wrong side of the lining rather than the overlay. The overlay looks like it will lay flatter so I’ll try it on my next few bags. I may be a convert.😊
Love it 😍
Once the zipper is sewn in I flatten it by top stitching the edges flat. I find that woks better ☺️
Genius!
This is my favorite way also I think I started when I was making the Wayfarer bag
I like this method also but I use a facing when it's for a lining pocket. I always cut one pocket piece one inch shorter so I don't need to cut it after.
I enjoyed your tutorial can you tell me where you purchased that gadget you use to put the slider on the zip
Great video! I will give this a try! I wondered about your zipper pull tool, where did you get it? Thanks!
Moremeknow.Com
Really like this. Excuse my ignorance. Is this just for inside pockets or can it be for outside zipper pockets too?
You're still awesome!
Love the video, but what is that tool you used to put your zipper pull on the tape?
This is my new favorite way!! So much easier to get everything attached.
Is this good to use when it's a zipper that is on the outside of the bag as well?
What kind of thread is used to sew vinyl and faux leather, and can I find it on Amazon or AliExpress?
I find it WAY easier to put the zipper lining top piece, back sides together, with the overlay and sew as one. Then cut away the opening and sew in the zipper. Then add the other pocket to the back. Done.
Hi lauren, thank you for the video! Please tell me whats that contraption you use to add the zip to the zip tape at the beginning?
It is a zipper jig! I will have it on my website in the new year
I tried the link for the zipper genie, but it's not working. Is there another place I can find it? Thank you!
What was that little zipper thing you were using to put the zipper on zipper teeth?
what is that tool you use to attach the zipper pull and where can you get it?
What kind of Juki are you sewing on?
Bagstock designs makes the zipper pockets like that too that’s how I saw it first

It will be available on my website in a month or so!
On the vinyl pocket overlay does yours have a white polyester backing? My vinyl does is it the wrong vinyl because when I cut it you can still see the white backing ....it's marine vinyl wrong kind?
Some vinyls do! You could choose to edgecoat!
@@LaurenMormino thank you! What would I need to buy?
Ahhh thanks now I have Eminem stuck in my head!!! 😂😜 Back again.... Flat again
This is my favorite way as well....

Marine vinyl or glitter vinyl would absolutely work
Is it flat?🤣
I love the zipper overlay as well. Simply classic also has a video where she uses small tabs at each end. th-cam.com/video/LNMn6ZQxMqI/w-d-xo.html 😉
How the heck did your machine go over the zipper teeth like that 😅
I use nylon zippers
@@LaurenMormino huh..never heard of em I’ll def be looking those up
