    Excellent tutorial, one suggestion would be to explain why you sew one edge of the overlay and then flip the fabric down to sew the other side so that new sewists don’t sew completely around the box thinking they know what they’re doing… I have to force myself to watch the full video before thinking I know what I’m doing lol

      If you sew all around, you won't be able to use the pocket. Everything will be stuck at the top. Test with scraps, and you will see what I am talking about.

    Love the tying the threads, game changer for a cleaner look. Thank you!!! I'd like to see a tutorial on how to tape measuring tape to your machine. Newbie here and it helps for seam allowance sizes.

    great video TFS ... p.s. instead of Elmers glue you could try sewline (used for EPP) if you use it sparingly you should be able to pull it away in a month or longer but it will stay till you pull it.

    • @AmyLynneDesigns
      @AmyLynneDesigns  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks! Yes I do have sewline, I've tested it out and while I like it, as much as I use it is just not cost effective. It is pricey and I am frugal (cheap) hahahah!

    I thought I was following the video but i sewed the zipper shut 😢... what did I do wrong abs in sewing vinyl😱

    • @AmyLynneDesigns
      @AmyLynneDesigns  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I’m guessing you sewed the bottom edge with the pocket flipped down. When you sew the bottom edge the pocket has to be up and out of the way so you don’t catch it and sew it closed.

    • @AmyLynneDesigns
      @AmyLynneDesigns  8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Jump to 10:55 and you’ll see when I sew the bottom edge I have the pocket to the left or to the top of the bag.

  • @IMOO1896
    @IMOO1896 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Would have been better to show how you folded the pocket lining away from the zipper -visually, along with the script, instead of taking so much time tying the threads. This will be a big issue for lots of seamers.

    • @AmyLynneDesigns
      @AmyLynneDesigns  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for that feedback! I've done this for others in person and tying the knots was a struggle. I'll try to focus on both in the patterns this will be used on!

    • @nic4328
      @nic4328 23 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Everyone is different in how we learn and understand things. I thought the folding away the pocket was obvious and didn't need shown. I have made several bags but have yet to tackle a zipper overlay. It's not a beginner's bag pattern detail. So if I've sewn some bags already then I'll understand what was happening with the pocket lining. I'm watching because I haven't yet tackled an overlay. In other words, for my needs, the video is perfect! Never saw anyone pull threads to the back on a bag. Also I concur with many other comments saying you are an excellent teacher. Thank you!😊
