I think) the second time round up to L91 (347?), just blew my mind. There was a non-zero chance of you completing it twice!
Those characters after Z on the line count, don't seem to be following ASCII. A quick Google isn't pointing me at what it's using, so I'm confused by the level prefixes.
@@damionyates4946 just like glitched colors, the weird characters emerge because it has run out of possible characters to use. hence, it uses parts of game code that shouldn’t be used. (at least, this is what i think is happening.)
@@enzgaming_123 This is already a patched version preventing the crashes starting at L157 and displaying things like line counts, not part of the original ROM. Using letters is mostly it because there is no space spare in the code to deal with wrapping or extending / moving where the numbers are printed by column. That logic would take a significant number of op codes. But given it's incrementing characters up past Z, I would logically assume it to move through ASCII.

1:21:25 HE’s DONE IT!! THE FIRST EVER REBIRTH IN NES TETRIS HISTORY!!!!!!!! Dog, you have done it! You have achieved history as the first person to complete Rebirth in the Nintendo Entertainment System version of Tetris! Your competitors; who include Blue Scuti, who achieved the first ever Game Crash in honor of his father (RIP), Fractal, the second game crash, PixelAndy, the third game crash, Myles & Tristop, both of whom have ALSO crashed the game, and finally we have the CTWC 2024 Champion, Alex Thach, who not only crashed the game TWICE and achieved a UNOFFICIAL rebirth, but also shattered all the previous records and is the person who you NARROWLY lost out to, so they’ll all be SO PROUD of your win. You see, when I played Tetris - and it WASNT the NES version as I was too young for it, I recall it being either the EA app or Blitz (which was loaded with pay-to-win) - I believe normally couldn’t even make it to level 4. I also had a handheld game called “Lightning Tetris.” I believe it was unlicensed! I got scared to play it because it was apparently broken. Need to fix the batteries on it. However, YOU start at level 18 and play at faster speeds than I can, especially with your fast paced “hyper tapping” and “rolling” skills, which were put to the test against each other in 2021-22! Michael Khanh, congratulations on your victory! We wish you all the best in your futures! (May want to listen to your music.)

Ok Dog! I need to tell you this. I’ve never told anybody this before but considering the circumstances… When I was a little boy, Tetris was just released. I had no idea what it was. I was a huge fan of super Mario. My next door neighbor had Nintendo. She did have Tetris! I was over at her house one day and her mother invited me to play it. My friend was upstairs cleaning up. I sat in front of the big wood panel covered television that was popular in the 1980’s, grabbed the controller, and had my first rounds of Tetris. After about 15 minutes my friend’s mother sat down and said, “let me show you how to play!” I didn’t understand why she needed to give me direction… I thought I was playing like an absolute boss! She showed me that you actually have to make full lines so that they disappear. That’s how you make points. That’s how you progress to the next level. I was just repeatedly stacking pieces one on top of the other right up the middle of the screen so that I can get to the top of the screen the fastest. I thought for sure that’s what needed to be done. Anyway, a few years after the fact, I think I reached level 15 or something. I thought surely that this game is impossible. It can not be beaten. 30 something years later… here you are. Seeing that kill screen speed turn into snail pace was like instantaneously experiencing every game of Tetris ever played in its history. What I just watched you do was something very special. Almost transcendent and spiritual. I appreciate you and all the time and effort you’ve put in to this. Thank you for not giving up and accomplishing what so many wanted to accomplish over the last 3 decades.
WOW! Just WOW! I knew he was a big contender for this WR, and I am so proud of bro for locking in and getting this historical achievement. GREAT JOB DOG!
This literal legend had beat EVERYTHING that Tetris has to offer, and then some. It's an astounding achievement, given how hard the game actually is to beat. This boy's excitement is one hundred percent well deserved, and I hope he's very proud of himself for this, because he darn well should be. He will be going places in the not too distant future
OMG ... no way this happened ... I never thought it possible for someone to have such extreme concentration for so long to do it ... wow ... mad respect!

Can't believe I saw this live. So awesome. Congrats. And by the way dog, when I asked the chat during your level 235 (R) grind "How much is a Tetris worth now?" and Cobra responded, 280,000 I didn't think you'd actually go for it. When you got it we were all going crazy. Absolutely insane.
Bro could have prevented the greatest game of tetris ever by asking this
probably one of the most surreal moments i've ever had watching tetris
literally was so caught up that dog wasn't topping out or crashing out near the end, im so glad to see this game live :D
Congrats! Was great to see your reaction to the Rebirth! You young kids these days AMAZE the heck out of me!
My son sent me this video. Loved to see you so happy. Huge effort. The world needs more of this. Congrats!!!
your streams are what got me into this community and i've been rooting for you ever since day one!! this was such a privilege to watch live and i genuinely couldn't be happier for you!!
Omg omg omg it's the VITS girl
congrats on the level 22 rollover
this game will redefine every classic tetris world record for the rest of time
Man, where does the scene even go from here? I suppose there's the classic score attack, or a true rebirth wìth crash conditions on an unmodded cart, or some other crazy challenge. But I do know that the community will always find ways to astound and amaze us
Was this not crash conditions?
@@MasDouc no, the modded carts used take out the crash minefield. you can tell its a modded game because of the score using hexadecimals and the 810 level being on green and not charcoal
@@FissionCube gotcha
Honestly I am not sure if there's anything left now. Getting Rebirth was the last big task left and now it's done. Getting it on a real cart would be close to impossible though since the later levels get very very crash prone.
@@atifarshad7624 double rebirth?
Holy cow. 348 levels. Parenthesis-hundred lines. 29,000,000 points. You are LITERALLY the best Tetris player.
bro alex t has been streaming rebirth attempts nearly every day for the past six months and then dog gets it out of nowhere that’s crazy
Let's never forget that this "out of nowhere guy" is actually a 2x world champion.
uh no not even close to every day maybe 1 attempt every week at most lol
@@BerroFronzo I know dog is good but he wasn’t grinding as much as alex is all I’m saying
alex t was barely grinding at all near the end lol he was not the expected one to get it at this point
@@doodle8932 huh I guess I haven’t been paying attention cause last time I checked he had pages and pages of 2 hour rebirth attempt streams lmao
Congratulations Dog!! Two-time world champion and now the first to reach Rebirth. You are one of the greatest to ever play the game.
can’t believe i missed it… massive ggs!!! seeing it actually happen is so unbelievably surreal. number #2 achievement in this game, right behind you hitting 4k on puzzles
You are officially GOD playing tetris in my books. Thanks for everything you have done for the scene
Congratz, you were on dutch national television🇳🇱
YOU JUST MADE WORLD HISTORY! I remember when this game came out and nobody thought this would ever happen! The GOAT gamer! You rock!
Absolute insanity! So cool to see Dog get this! I hope this goes mainstream viral, although it might be harder to grasp than game crash
i think “after playing for nearly an hour and a half at inhuman speeds, dogplayingtetris reached such a high level in Tetris for the NES that the game broke and sent him back to the first level” or something similar is pretty graspable to most people
@@carbonatedmilk1 I hope so, but we'll see. I just think the term "rebirth" and the level resetting, is more nerdy than the game crashing, so I would be surprised if it goes as viral - but definitely deserves to!
@@JensEmilMusic a yeah, the whole point of my comment was like “de-nerdifying” it LOL
@@JensEmilMusic This was entirely graspable. It's still entirely meh to anyone not into tetris.
I suddenly woke up at 4:30 am that day and wasn't able to fall asleep again, so I checked Twitch for tetris streams and dog was pretty far in the game already...and then....it happened!! I'm so happy I witnessed this live! Thanks tetris god for waking me up🙂👍👍👍 and big Congrats to Dog! 🎉🎉🎉
I was here.
Real legit history of video gaming made. Wow, dude. Bravo! This was insanely impressive to watch.
Congratulations my dude. Thoroughly impressed.
I thought for sure this achievement was going to take several more months of effort by the whole community. You're a certified legend for this, dog, and enjoy your very well-deserved piece of Tetris history. GGs, king
holy cow man. ive been into tetris for... 7, 8 years now? ive been waiting for this moment for a long time, and of course it's you; you've been so good at this game for so long, and it's been awesome to see your rise from a prodigy to a champion and now the first player to rebirth the game. it's so impressive, beyond words honestly. this is an incredible achievement, and i hope to see you continue to do great things, wherever tetris and life take you.
Reaching level 0 after all the mental stress and gauntlet of those difficult colours and that 810 line level is actually insane.
Never thought this would be done by dog so suddenly and 29million is CRAZY GGS
Legend. One of the greatest gaming achievements of all time.
Absolute legend. Another milestone for this game, and potentially the last major milestone that will be humanly achieved. Incredible work.
I will very happily eat these words the day someone gets achieves rebirth on an unmodded rom.
Congrats man I was just rewatching SummoningSalt's video and someone in the comments shouted you out! Huge for you and the Tetris community!
you truly are the GOAT!! congrats on the rebirth, couldn’t have been done by a more worthy player
It's gone. It's done!
Yes Mr. Frodo, it's over now.
CONGRATULATIONS 🎉 That is awesome! I'm following classic Tetris since the first 1.2 million days... This is incredible! Wow.
I am speechless. What an amazing demonstration of skill. Congratulations dude! This is history!
I am honored to be able to write in the comment section of a video that showcases a legendary highlight of the video game industry. You are the GOAT, and no one can take that away from you. Even when you’re 90, people will still be talking about it.
Hanging out with a chaotic watch party vc while you were making it from 236 all the way to rebirth was a wonderful way to spend my saturday evening. Good work, best game
Congrats on the truly insane accomplishment!! I only follow Tetris casually but this video was immediately in my recommended. Hoping this means YT will pick it up and get you the views you deserve :)
Absolutely huge for the scene. Massive congrats!
This guy must be great at packing for road trips.
If he ever left his room 🤔
People think Tetris players are good at packing but this isn’t true. Most packing jobs have much more than 4 sizes/shapes and don’t disappear when you line them up. It’s completely different, trust me 😂
Well, he'd have to deal with a LOT of luggage disappearing whenever he made complete lines. 🤣
Congrats Dog 🎉
Holy crap
The burn, the tetris, while reading chat, at killing screen, even when it's was haze (stage 235) and keep pushing and surviving till the reset, can't believe I watched it for hours amd man it was rollercoaster to watch. This dude is different beast. I watch the tetris tournament here and there, but man, this is something marvel. You earned a new subscriber, and hope you will reach many more brother 💪, you sir, are exceptionally good tetris player.
You have made Tetris history! Huge congrat from Europe, Hungary!
Ok Dog! I need to tell you this. I’ve never told anybody this before but considering the circumstances…
When I was a little boy, Tetris was just released.
ALREADY????? WHAT?????
One of the few achievements I'm actually genuinely shocked by. Congrats!
I didn’t think this would happen for years. Congrats Dog! You are so likable and deserve it all!!
Absolutely insane for the history of gaming as a whole, ggs man you deserve it
WOW! Just WOW! I knew he was a big contender for this WR, and I am so proud of bro for locking in and getting this historical achievement. GREAT JOB DOG!
No way! I didn't see this coming so soon. HUGE CONGRATS!
Legend for playing a stupid video game smh
@@Joeglass44So you think Fortnite is better?
I literally just read about this on BBC news. Well done!
Was just randomly wondering if anyone ever got rebirth in Tetris and found out it just happened lol. Grats!
OMG ... no way this happened ... I never thought it possible for someone to have such extreme concentration for so long to do it ... wow ... mad respect!
the fact that even with this monstrous game you need to almost quadruple the score to stackrabbit is madness
I never touched a Tetris game in my life, he just beats the top score TWO TIMES ???
That work is amazing btw
Just came here from the Summoningsalt video. Absolutely insane!
Wow this happened way sooner than I thought it would happen
It's wild how after the rebirth there are 40 minutes left in the video! Just like the name says, the rebirth isn't the end but a new beginning! Congratulations
This is amazing! I also would have loved to see your hands in the video, I just can't imagine my fingers ever moving as fast as yours must have been to achieve this, great job!
This is history in the making. Great job!
YOU'RE THE GOAT DOG! Absolutely deserved I'm so happy for you 🔥
bruh, this is incredible
Edit: I don't want to ruin the mood or anything, just my thoughts, I would've loved it if Jonas was able to see this.
But there was two Jonas Neubauer behind him the whole time.
(This is the name of the "J" Tetris trophies)
@@samuelleie true :)
Completely insane. You're nuts brother.
“I might just start going for rebirth now”
*Gets it immediately*
A legendary accomplishment, wonderful to watch!
Bro you made the news all the way in the Netherlands, that's crazy
Well boys, we did it. NES Tetris is no more
🦀 _(Crab Rave intensifies)_ 🦀
Well except for rebirth on stock cartridge.
@@TeighMart Not humanly possible i'd say, some of the crashes need TAS level precision to avoid them
Now it's time for double rebirth
1:21:25 The best moment of Tetris history timestamp
This even was in the German news dude. Words cannot circumscribe the gravity of this. Congrats man.
Congratulations! My favourite tetris player with Jonas.
We got a full Tetris cycle before GTA 6 💀
Real!
