I loved having my own tools and feeling capable to do a grown up job! I think I was a little older than JoJo is now. I was originally planning to build the exact same design from scratch I even had the plans ready but this looks much easier and it definitely looks better than what I could’ve made cause tbh I’d probably screw the wood together unevenly

Our mattress doesn't move at all because the mattress is heavy but if you have a lighter, thinner mattress on the bed it might move and you might have to screw the slats down 😊👌

If you wanted to get really fancy you could attach some hinges at the head end and use ply or mdf and then put cubes at the foot of the bed so its a U of cubes with a lifting lid. If I didnt have an antique iron and wood bed id make one of these.
I found this video while researching some idea like this for my mini-camping trailer. I like your idea of hinged lid unit... I'm only 4'11" (U.S.) so I need no more than 66" (167.6cm) length (which is also short enough to fit the space I have in a 4'x8' (121.9 - 243.8cm trailer), and need no more than 22-24" (55.9 - 61cm) wide... I think I'll try it with bookcases with openings facing up (units lying on their backs)... hinged plywood or MDF on top for storage underneath... dense foam on top and my sleeping bag on top of that... Use it as a (short) sofa during the day... On Amazon I found bookcases for just over $23usd each, that measure 22.7" (57.7cm) wide x 31.5" (80cm) tall x 9.7" (24.7cm) deep... Two of those laid end-to-end will give me a bed 63" long and 22.7" wide to sleep on... I could arrange some sort of temporary connector to attach them for easy disconnection and removal. Comments? Suggestions? This video was wonderful for letting me know that my initial thoughts are valid!

Could have put another unit in the middle of the bed and lined up with the side units so can just pull boxes out or push back under easy and then just used the area jojo a bed was to put shelfs across for suit cases and blankets ect and a curtain or sliding door on it to hide it and blend it into the room

Last year I considered making the same hack for a 140x200cm mattress, but decided against it because I wasn't sure it would be strong enough for 2 adults and especially 2 adult doing adult stuff in the bed... I wake up because I can’t freely move in my sleep. Also the blanket puts pressure on my body and pushes things out of line causing pain all day. Hi Family Freedom at the moment I am practicing getting really good at drawing pictures I have a tip what I do is when I practice I have a whiteboard I practice using when drawing so I can stop using so much paper and it's a portable whiteboard so it's easy to practice using and the whiteboard is the brand Bic I think it's called a double sided school board i recommend it if you are wanting to practice drawing pictures

I’m moving soon and acquired a kingsize memory foam mattress but still using my double size bed frame for the moment. I have resident spiders 🕷 There’s always one in my bathroom. It lives up on the ceiling. It started out very small and I watched it grow & then it finally disappeared after months. Now I have another one and I just leave them to their own devices. I’m sure it will stay inside for the winter now ☺️🕷 xx I also have two hedgehogs 🦔 🦔 in my hedgehog house which is lovely. I think they will be hibernating very shortly & who knows....maybe come the Spring we may have some babies 🦔🦔🦔 xxx

If it doesn't work out and you want on and only bed to be tough and last a lifetime research Tough Furniture. I got one for my daughter who had severe challenging behaviour, perfection. These beds are used in Naughty Boys Homes. They are unbreakable. Six heavy set men can stand on base no problem.

If you use mdf you would need to drill holes. Our body loses water and mould would build up.

Maybe 🤔 I guess it depends on the size and weight of your mattress and you would need some good strong slats :)
the slats will move but double sided heavy duty velcro does the trick and you need to double the amount of slats, that's nowhere near enough
The mattress on our bed is very heavy so the slats don't move but the velcro is a great idea for someone with a lighter mattress 👌🙂
