Finally someone talking about vocals in any kind of standalone setup. Thanks ZEALE. I wish the manufacturers would realize that it's not just music producers who want lawless setups, but also vocalists. At least Roland is listening with their Verselab MV-1. It's great to see vocals going on the MKii as well. Now... if we could get some decent vocal-specific effects up in here!
personally Im still working on workflow. I would rate simplistic workflow vids, visual pushups you know? your vids are great. I have adhd and when I was learning photography years ago, I would just watch work flow vids all day and 12 years later it my career. Hit us with some more workflows
I'd love a step by step on how to actually use the machine for vocalizing. I have a 404A and plan to use it mainly for this purpose. So maybe a tutorial video explaining basic setup for live vocal performance. For example, if you have preset snares, drums, the beat on one pad etc. and vocal loops on certain pads with effects on them. Give us a breakdown please, what's common sense to you isn't for beginners. Thank you, new subbie here.
Hey Stella this is a really good idea for a video. I would approach this from the pattern side of the SP for song performance. I'll put this on my list of vids to create this month. Thank you for the suggestions. In the mean time if you want to see the super basic side of connecting, mic fx, etc peep this vid: th-cam.com/video/H1raeLD_ofc/w-d-xo.html 🙌🏾💯
Ok. So I've been wondering about this, and i think this shows what i hoped. I want to record vocals on the mkii. My hope was that i could use autopitch (which I've still never seen anyone use 😂) and also use the bus fx. So i could have autopitch, eq, and a compressor on my vocals, all recorded to a pad. Then with all that recorded, i could add delay and reverb to the vocal. Being able to run your vocals through 3 different fx at once would be pretty powerful, especially for a live situation
@@synth-studio update. Autopitch doesn't do a good job of correcting pitch. Isn't really usable, but has great formant and pitch shifting. You can have an input effect on, as well as bus 1 and 2 as long as the bus fx are set to series. So three fx while recording. I love vocals going through the cassette sim with all the settings at zero. Sounds so sick
Love the creativity here. You actually have up to 5 FX on your vocal by using Input FX on one and then something different on each of the 4 BUS paths. But it could get crazy. I wouldn’t use the SP for pitch correction personally, but it def does creative pitching FX very well
i wondering if you can record vocals separately from a beat into ableton or any daw? tried but it always has the beat with the vocals in one if you get what i mean
Dope! I actually have the exact walkthrough of how I connected it and the input settings on this video. Let me know if this helps and if not let me know and I'll give you some clarity. Peep it here: th-cam.com/video/H1raeLD_ofc/w-d-xo.html 🙌🏾
i have a portable phantompower XVive P1 that powers condenser mics with a battery. if i plug my condenser to the XVive and then to the mic input of the sp404 mk2... will that work? i mean your are using a dynamic sm58
Yeah it should def work because your power source is external. Give it a shot and let me know. I have a condenser mic on a ZOOM mic that I use for stereo field recording and it is self amplified via batteries and I just patch that directly in the stereo inputs. Different, but similar, Hope this helps 🙌🏾
@@ZEALE i will let you know if it works, but i have to wait until my mk2 arrives. in europe there are long waiting times. they are sold out everywhere. like you i also have my condensers for stereo recording. its a matched pair of lewitt lct040's. my zoom h5 has built in phantompower. so if the xvive doesnt work, i will have to plug the zoom h5 into the line inputs of the mk2. have a nice day! greetings from switzerland.
@@nicomelgares Nice man, yeah I know they've been delayed but I heard more are shipping this month and March. Hyped to hear your thoughts on it when it arrives. I'm in Los Angeles btw. Greetings from California 🌴☀
How would you rate this vs. an MPC for vocal recording and ease of use? I just want to be able to record some vocal tracks without too much difficulty. Add some effects. Save it. Export it. MPC or this unit? Thoughts?
That's possible on the MPC. Kinda depends on how involved you want. If you want a device that FEELS simple, that's never going to be an MPC. That's this MKii all the way.
Personally I prefer the SP cuz the workflow for sampling vocals is quick and offers a lot of FX to get creative. But I would still suggest a DAW for tracking vocals, then import or run through your SP to add FX, Chop, and just get real unique twist
@@minamariathe124 I prefer Ableton over most DAWS for many reasons but primarily becuz it's what I know the most, but all DAWS will work fairly the same for vocal recording. The key is to make sure you record at the same tempo or play the SP in time with your DAW bpm and then record. As long as you export on the grid the vocals will drop right in the SP flawlessly. Also I recommend the SP app for easiest transfer of your vocal file to your SP hardware. Hope this helps! 👾🙌🏾
It's a good performance and demo! but it's not a "tutorial" without describing or showing in detail how things were set up. 😉 we can't load a project file until the units arrive
I hear that, have you revived your SP yet? How can I improve on this to make a video that delivers more on a tutorial level? I’d like to make sure it works for peeps. This is my first time really creating content like this

Factssss! Doing a specific video on Vocal FX right now!
Slick video, nice use of effects. Especially like the pop up clouds showing me what was being used at the time.
Yo thank you! I’m trying to make it real easy for people to get down on the SP. it’s a vibe
Best video I've seen for the SP404MK2 so far by far! Really good work 😎
Yo thank you! More coming so please sub if you haven’t already bruh 🙌🏾🔥

this is actually dope bro
You thanks man! Trying to add the little things I know about the 404 to the community at large. I'm learning all this from jump, but it's fun man 🙌🏾
Great tutorial! 😎tried Downer, but it not effect octave of voice as much as your, any advice?

Just got the same mic and have the MKii. How do you get it to pick up? Mic input + EXT source appears to do nothing.

I loveeee the SP for vocals!

Can you lay down an entire vocal track on this bad boy?
For sure, you can live record basically as long as you want. Just make sure you have a click or pattern on the SP playing 🙌🏾
if i use the compressor for vocals what settings should i use?
so so so fire

what's the sp404mkii release date ?
Technically October but people are just receiving them
