    If you want to try this all out but you don't have a dynamic mic, and you have a field recorder like a Tascam or Zoom, you can often use that as a mic by putting it into record mode (even previewing is enough) and connecting its stereo line output into the dual mono inputs on the back of the SP.

    Thx for the video ! Very useful. Not clear yet on a few points :
    - Does the SP404mk2 have the auto-pitch FX like on the VT/MV products (equivalent of AutoTune based on a set key/scale) ?
    - Do we have the preset structure of the MV that can combine doubling/chorus/auto-pitch/telephone FX into one preset ?
    - Can the Vocoder be controlled by incoming MIDI notes ?

    • @ZEALE
      @ZEALE  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey Alex great questions! I have to admit I have not dove into the AutoTune portion of the SP to any real depth yet. It is def on my to do list. I have heard that there are more advanced options coming to the Autotune & Vocoder FX soon through some updates so stay tuned for that. I'm hoping to have a video worked up on this topic in mid January though, so hopefully I can provide more insight then. Appreciate you and the questions! 👏🏾💯

    I have a digitakt running through my sp404. Do you know if there is a way to put an effect on the mic input (eg reverb) but not have that effect on the line inputs at the back (no reverb on digitakt)? Or does the input fx necessarily apply to both the mic input and the line inputs at the back? Thx

    • @ZEALE
      @ZEALE  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'm pretty certain the input FX always apply to both the mic and line in. I haven't seen a way to separate this. Maybe it's possible in a new firmware update? Are you routing your digitakt through the SP for FX? If not I would just bypass this and maybe route the SP in your digitakt instead? 💪🏾

    Question for ya. If ur wanting to record both your vocals and sample triggering from the 404 into a laptop at the same time would you need an audio interface or anything besides what you showed in this video?.

    • @ZEALE
      @ZEALE  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Great question, I’m pretty sure the answer is no. If you’re connecting your SP directly to your DAW via USB-C any audio emitted should record on your track. You may need the SP VST, but I don’t think it’s necessary. Also make sure the input on your SP is routed to MIX. Hope this helps. Let me know if that works 🙌🏾

    Zeale, this was great, man. Thank you.
    I’d also love to get an idea of the workflow for a song. Say, for example, I wanted to do a rough SoundCloud hip hop demo song start to finish on just the 404. Is there a separate bus set for input (vocals) vs the samples? Can both have separate effect buses at the same time? Also, can you add effects after vocals have been recorded?

    • @ZEALE
      @ZEALE  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      So good to hear man for real! (1) Yes you can set separate BUS paths for your input FX and your samples. Hold Shift + Pad16 to get to EFX Setting. Then press in the encoder knob and you can change the BUS pattern to be parallel instead of chained. Next scroll to the far right tab on the EFX Setting menu and on the last tab you can adjust the input FX to route to BUS1 or BUS2. Set this to BUS2. Now all your FX on BUS1 and BUS2 will be separated. You can use the first BUS for FX on samples and the second for FX on your voice. (2) You can add FX to any audio after it's loaded in the SP as a sample. Just use the Resample method with desired FX turned on. However, recording vocals directly in the SP and aligning with the song may be a challenge because all you can hear while you're recording is the click track at the moment. Easier to record them in your DAW and then import as a sample already on the grid. Hope this helps. Hit me if you got more questions! 🙌🏾👾

    • @ZEALE

    @subtle.banter 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can someone tell me what exactly the Bus 1/Bus 2 actually is?

    • @ZEALE
      @ZEALE  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You, each bus is a path or channel you can place FX on (reverb, delay, scatter, etc). Your project (samples/loops your using) can be sent down one of those channels to apply the FX or not. So if you want your project to have reverb you place that FX on the Bus and then make sure your project is routing to it. The advanced part is when you start using multiple Bus channels, chaining them, etc. So many ways to use them. Hope this helps! 🙌🏾👾

    • @Hakucho64
      @Hakucho64 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Think of buses 1 and 2 as separate effects boxes (or slots) to which you can assign any of the SP effects. You then decide for each pad separately whether it goes through bus 1, bus 2, or neither. Either way, everything then goes through bus 3 then bus 4, which are two further slots to which you can assign any effect (or none). The only other thing to know (as covered in the video) is that if you want, the output of bus 1 can take a detour into bus 2 before going into buses 3 and 4.

    sucks that FX's are only bussed and can't effect pads and input separate with multiple FX

    • @ZEALE
      @ZEALE  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Well depends on how you route it and also pads can individually bypass one or all BUSES. What are you looking to do exactly? You can technically have up to 4 FX on the whole system or certain pads. 💯

    • @thinkognito344
      @thinkognito344 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ZEALE just would of been nice too effect pads individually like tracks... but guess just resample with fx you want... but 4 fx live at once seems limited... that's with the input fx too? why skimp on ram and storage space? and only 32gb sd card max? would of been cool to have the option to upgrade these... also can only record 16 minutes? why limit it? would of been nice to be able to record a full set to wav on the sd... so we can disconnect from the computer as much as possible.
