YESSS! Thank you!
Do you recommend the sp404 mk2 for beginners?
where do you buy those cables they’re so clean 😭👅
😮🫡😎💪🏾🔥
Just add any other SP serious to the mk2 and it solves a lot of problems, as far as menu diving and workflow goes Just sample back and forth with each other ( while adding effects)
This was a performance!! Where's the tutorial?
Great video bro. I have made some really good loops but have had a hard time bouncing anything out because I didn’t have the workflow down. I might be able to not use my MPC2500 for the sequencing. I like the portability of the SP and I think they are both awesome.
Wow
Man thats beautiful thanks
big thank you!, i wont be afraid to do resamples now with this tip
@@roomma_kolesnikoow this one is clutch. Makes it easy to make sure you’re locked in with your tempo. Thanks for being here! 🙌🏾
I'm not getting this 🤷♂😅
@@primarqo which part?
@@ZEALEI didn't quite understand the whole process, especially the part at 0:03 where you turn the white pads into red ones 🙂. However, I don't think you activated the mute groups-what function is that? 🙂 I'm new to the SP404 🤷♂. Really great music for listening, thank you! ☺
Yall the same😷🤡🤣 makin a standard no bass whatsoever. Boom bap / rap hiphop drill beats🤡🤮
@@botnet1531 this actually just loops showcasing the machines capability. I didn’t produce this. You shot and missed. 😂
@@ZEALE whoops🤭, nah. But sorry for the insult. Have a good evening.

@@ChrisWitherspoonn yo thank you. I just really enjoy the SP and I want other peeps to feel the same. Def has a learning curve, but my goal was to make it easier. Thanks for being here 🙌🏾

I just traded an older maschine studio for an sp. I have had it for about a day. I am in the process of learning this hardware. I have an X and live 2, but i am definitely falling in love with this thing!
@@errliest welcome to the SP fam. It’s a lot of fun and hella versatile device. There’s a lot to learn, but it’s dope because you can craft your own workflow and vibe. Hit me if you have any questions 🙌🏾
Thank you! The dedication to your style and approach to teaching this machine is second to none! Please keep the content coming! You have a loyal follower ✌️
Yo thank you! Means a lot to hear feedback like this. More long format videos are in the works now. Thank you for being here 🙌🏾
This shit is so fun to learn yo
Agreed, I find new ways to use this machine everyday. Working on new long format videos to share soon. Thanks for being here 🙌🏾

thanks for his bro. this device is a lil overwhelming but I'm finding my own unique way to use it and this video was really helpful
@@grahamdern great to hear this! There def a learning curve, but finding your own use case is what it’s all about. Thanks for being here 🙌🏾
Great video!!! Do you have a video that shows how to sample your own vocals with the mic, stack vocals and assign to pad??
@@jonhenrimusic thank you! I haven’t made a video like this yet, but that’s a cool idea for a future one.
@@ZEALE Love ur channel, extremely helpful!!!
@@jonhenrimusic great to hear! I appreciate you being here 🙌🏾
For the life if me I can’t get my 404 to sync with any sequencer. I’ve follwed this tutorial and tried others😢 please, HALP!🙏🏾
@@dubsupport4435 word, it’s either physical connections, internal sync settings or both. How are you setting these up?

Tell me about that custom skin? Is there a template out there?
@@coreynasfell1095 the custom skin I got from StyleFlip. Yes they do have templates and you can use existing designs or add your own images on the templates. Very dope and great quality!
Where do you plug you mic into the port at the bottom or is there a channel strip involved?
@@NoRivalRecords great question, there is a quarter inch input at the bottom of the device. You’ll need an XLR to quarter cable. Hope this helps 🙌🏾
can you crop a middle portion of the pattern ? it doesn't work for me when i try
@@amonblaze1472 good question, no you can’t. In this case I would bounce the pattern to a sample and then crop the sample to just the middle portion you want. Hopefully There’s and update for this down the road tho. Would be dope! 🙌🏾
@@ZEALE thank you!

Is possible recording in direct the melody? Or necessary rec the single note and re record in chromatic mode?
@@silaskirk9757 you could use Skipback to capture what ever you play in the Sound Generator mode…or generate the one note and record into a pattern. Either one works! 🙌🏾
@@ZEALEthanks! 👍 I prefer to do this with the metronome in headphones, in pattern mode you can't slide between notes
@@silaskirk9757 yup that’s accurate. I think you can slide if you turn off all quantization tho. Turn it to 0% 🤘🏾
Hmmm... it's like a mix of scatter and swing... I can't seem to get it to gel with my ish... something about the initial downbeat.
@@blkrbbt try a lower level of saturation and use it on a loop that doesn’t have swing yet.
@@ZEALE yup. Thats what it is. Good tip. Also, it works very well for top loops.
@@blkrbbt nice! Just a touch of it goes a long way. 🙌🏾
@@ZEALE Thats a good pick up line. haha
@@blkrbbt 😂
FIRE 🔥 🔥🔥
@@Jayommaise thank you! 🙌🏾
beat is sick, pixelated top half of the video is very clever
@@AidanMiles thank you, haha. Yeah I make weird faces when I jam so this helps 😂
SP 404 = Suspicious person not found
@@puvendranpillay8802 😂 I rock with that
Wow game changer
@@luissolis4536 I use this one all the time, huge help with workflow
I was toying with the mix option of merging samples... haven't dialed it in yet, but I'm working on using the tone generator to make a sine wave at low frequency, and mixing with a pad sound or strings, and seeing if you can get a modulation sound. You lose a lot of gain though.
@@blkrbbt that’s sounds really dope. Once you get thy dialed in I’d love to see/gear the results. I’m curious on how far sound design can go on the SP. Feel like it’s really untapped in this area. I hear you on the gain loss.
@@ZEALE Im taking a quick break til August 1st. Im a part of the beat flipping community here in Chicago, and had a performance at the end of May. Got burnt out getting that set together. But Im going to slingshot around the sun and come in hot for the next month... then Im moving to Japan this time next year... Im just trying to catch up to you! (Im taking the SP404, a Syntakt, and an MC101 to Japan.... going to find a record shop, and drill down on the craft. I was going to take my Prophet 6, but I dont trust TSA with it... might take a Maschine MK3 as well.)
@@blkrbbt that sounds amazing! I’m trying to get to Japan next year as well. Maybe we’ll jam IRL some time 🙌🏾
@@ZEALE Bro, it would be a pleasure! I am trying to learn as much as i can and enrich myself, culturally. Plus, its where the 404's were invented! We could consider it a pilgrimage. I need to see the Roland HQ, and give my respects!
@@blkrbbt keep me posted when you’re there. If we overlap let’s make it happen 🙌🏾
Thank you for all your help! I just received my SP a few days ago. :)
@@CrittendenIV congrats on the new SP and welcome to the fam! Make sure to get the latest update on your SP…you’ll have to download it from Roland’s site. It’s amazing! Thanks for being here 🙌🏾
That's a huge calculator! 😮 Jk 😂✌️ Great vid tho ❤ i m considering getting one. Is it still good in 2024?
@@talktalk4503 😂 facts. Yeah it’s still a great tool for music creatives. The latest update dropped in April and it really powered up the SP. I have a ton of tips and other long format videos on my channel to help once you grab one. Join the SP fam my guy! I’m sure you’ll enjoy 🙌🏾
@@ZEALE thank you. The latest drop, is that fw 4.04? Can we set the kick sound on pad 13 as a default (start from bottom left instead of pad 1)? I m kinda used to that orientation. It looks like it starts everything from the top or pad 1.
@@talktalk4503 you can assign samples where you like, and also color each pad per bank to organize your kit. There is not really a default template.
@@ZEALE cool! Also, is there any LFOs to modulate some parameters in samples? Am considering this vs digitakt II and ableton push mk3. Did u compare others before getting the SP? What made u decide on it? Thx
@@talktalk4503 very dope! Currently not a way to modify samples with LFO’s that I can think of. There is a sound generator that allows for some sound design and play, but you’ll def get that on Push and likely Digitakt. I’m not super familiar with either but I know they are more robust in that space. I have an SP as well as an MPC and other drum machines. This is just my favorite to work on.
Genuinely appreciate that you made this video! As a perfectionism, I used to struggle with completing my works. Thanks to this video now I"m able to finish my beat with perfect work flow. Looking forwards to your other videos.
