  • Hiding in the shadows of the Malaysian state of Sabah, are tiny figures, the children of migrants who are growing up stateless.
Born in Malaysia but citizens of no country, they spend their lives on the run from authorities.
101 East enters the world of Sabah's invisible children.

Danicka Addams yeah sure. Let everyone in and take advantage of everything. Let them overpopulate here. Make it easy so that someone can commit crime in their homeland and escape, come here undocumented, so they can get a new identity and obviously get away with crime. Laws and regulations are there for REASONS your peanut brain cannot fathom. Dumbass.

Selfish thinking, we Malaysian will not starve by helping others. Live their life before judging, try to understand before hating, not all of them are bad, these children are innocent. I cannot make myself blaming them. They never ask to be given nationality, just a shelter, halal way to get food, to be educated, & not to be treated like criminals. Thank GOD our creator will not ask for IDs in the afterlife.

This is heartbreaking. Those poor bloody kids sniffing glue to escape from life. 50 sen may not sound like a lot of money if you're earning an upper middle class salary in KL but I'm sure it's a lot if you have to earn money selling plastic bags or collecting tins. God bless the teachers in the NGO schools.

This is truely sad, I promised myself. once I get through a few year's, of being an entrepreneur. I'll travel to area's such as this the slums. Worse of the worse parts, with a team of Dr, attorney ect. with truck's and boat loads of food, medicine, clothes and goods to try and help. For kid's build large orphanage, same for abandoned widows in India. When I turn 27 or 30 I'll travel around and help. Being raised an orphan that has been my purpose in life. To build a business empire and spread good fortune. Sad how people with good lives treat other's suffering like it's not their problem. if more people helped, those in need could rise to do great thing's. especially at a young age, I remember I was curious and eager to learn at a young age. However my will to learn wasn't natured. So I'd like to help whatever possible and build a future where people help one another.

You might start a blog now to start getting interested people to start planning. It will take awhile just to come up with plans for one area. The law there will have to be looked into and questions asked. Since these people in the video are not accepted and are always looking over their shoulders and running to escape prison and extradition, its best if they can be found a different place to live where they are safe and live freely. I will do what I can. You can add me to your list.

  • @YY-bq2qc
    @YY-bq2qc 7 ปีที่แล้ว +22

As a Sabahan, I really feel sad to see this. Sad for both sides: the illegal immigrants and the people of Sabah. i pity them for having no documents, struggling with lives, but at the same time, Sabah as a whole has been seriously affected by their presence. We do not have enough resources to help such a big crowd. The total numbers are likely to far exceed the number of real Sabahan. Throughout the years, the Sabah and Malaysian government haven't been trying to stop them from entering, and we now jointly bear the consequences.

They say charity starts at home. There are many local, native, Sabahans who are marginalised and living in poverty. They too, occasionally lack documentation as they live very far from government offices. These group of Sabahans also suffer from ailments and have problems getting to hospitals as they live deep in the remote areas of Sabah.
These people deserve to be cared for. With the economical state that we are in right now, it is difficult for equal contribution if even the needs of the local Sabahans are not met. I feel sorry for the families that have lost their loved ones, and I'm also sorry that the government from the country of origin aren't taking steps into helping their own people. It is wrong to expect good treatment of others when the people of the very nation are poor, suffering and not being well cared for.
I think the government of Malaysia has being doing quite a lot for these "illegal immigrants" - many of them to get adequate ( if not the best) treatments at our hospitals at minimal charges if any. I personally feel it is also unfair to shed such a bad light on Malaysia as there are also the positives.

Most of them are legal migrants. Not untill they stayed for years, having family, child, work and house.
Childs born in Malaysia are given full nationality. Their parents are allowed to stay in Malaysia as long as they have passport visa (renewable every 9 month at Malaysian Immigration).
However, most Immigrants tends to ignore all this process which lead us to all this troubles. Any country (except Israels) allowed any immigrants as long as they have causes (work, study, tourist, family, houses etc) and passports visa.
so if you want to blame Sabah or the whole Malaysia, I think you should stop that. Malaysia had done their part and getting better time. The neighbouring countries suposed to brief their people before migration is done and please thighten your borders. 13 thousand illegal immigrants every years sounds 'wow' to Malaysia.

If u were born in Malaysia, gov will issue birth certificate, but..even if u have birth certificate doesnt mean you are have the right to become citizen. To become citizen, one of your parents must be a citizen first. Either your dad or mom is citizen, then after that u will qualify to become citizen of Malaysia. Malaysia citizzenship is based of parental heritage, not on "son of soil" concept like in the US.

Most comment here why the government not give them legal document or nationality. Firstly the state of Sabah have full autonomy on immigrant policy. Even the Federal Government can't do much. Secondly Sabah have a diverse races with small percentage different among them so giving document or nationality will have political consequences and create further tightening of rules in the border area.
Its a Catch 22 situation for Federal Government, while willing to give little help buy won't want to appease the state population. And by the way a third of the illegal are Christian and another third is muslim and the rest are probably atheist. East coast of Sabah has always been Malaysia's Cowboy Region and look like will remain so but a fantastic place to live.

It's heartbreaking to see all these children suffer because of their parents.
These children are innocent, they are deprived of basic education, healthcare etc.
If they had stayed in their own country at least they have a chance to get out of this lifestyle, example by studying hard (as there are compulsory education in indonesia and Philippines, they get a decent certificate therefore able to earn enough and do not need to resort to illegal activities.
Or they can even get scholarships and get a degree hence getting out of poverty)

Did they have any benefit from it? No! ..they dirty work only work on muslim people as way to conquer Malaysia in total politiccally..(BN charm people who are malay or bumiputra also muslim to vote them.).ITS ALL POLITIC.. are you relise yet? You only one of the victim over politic play that hapend around the earth if you said you had been deceive there. .You should be more careful..do you know how many country around were corrupted and more dirtier? How can the migrants expect their children to be recognised treated fairly when they themselves do not obey the law?
