I first heard Maggot Brain in this version and it is still my favorite version of the song. I Don't know why, but I find it a lot more emotional then the studio version. I really hope one day it will return to Spotify.
I have to stop myself from listening to this I revisit it annually its is the most powerful and emotional guitar solo I've ever heard I used to sneak and listen to this when I was about 8 years old 😂on a 45 in my grandparents basement now im blasting it wherever this is 🔥
Watching Michael Hampton emerge from a giant skull and perform this masterpiece at the St. Louis Checkerdome was one of the top five greatest experiences of my life.
@@jeffreyclarkson6432 , The way I figured it, they probably did the same show in every city. I wish I would have had a way to record it for myself. Bootsy was there, too. Bootsy: "Ah, St. Louis, watch ya' been doin'?" Crowd: "We've been stompin' a hole in the floor, 'cause we want MORE, MORE, MORE!"
I was maybe 12yrs old me and my boy at Cobo Hall in Detroit when i first heard this live in concert.. Blew me away then , and blows me away now and I'm 58yrs old now.... WOW!! Shit! Listen to the brother on the bass. Masterpeice ! And go easy
One of my favorite versions. Those quick licks that Michael plays from 6:34 to 6:42 hit me every time. George sent copies of this version to the rock radio stations (hoping they would play it in regular rotation), but they ignored it.
I'm in agreeance with a lot of people. For me this is the best version of this. The original was grewt and ethereal. However it didn't have the bass and drums in the pocket and Bernie Worrel on keys.
I try to put my notes on every comment on these guys as I can. I met these brothers and smoke a piece pipe, if you know what I mean in columbia sc will never forget thank you
@@adrianwalton6117I know I don't like maggot brain and all the boring white kids who call it the best funk album ever. I didn't expect you to infer that I'm just saying shit

You're probably right
Me n u both bother
One of the BEST SOLO’S EVER NOTE-FOR-NOTE! 💯
🎯🗑
As a teenager I heard this one before the original. Overtime I learned to appreciate them both! This solo was and still is EPIC!!!
I totally agree..The whole solo sweeps you along with it on a beautiful journey..

I've listened to so many versions but IMO this is the definitive recording
Naw, Eddie's.
There one with drums hitting way harder. It’s on IG but idk where on TH-cam
1979 butterfly version in DC is right there with this
I just love the interplay between the bass and lead guitar......it's almost Spiritual!!!!
This is the best version of this song
The BEST version of Maggot Brain 🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾🤘🏾
It is..Just a true experience to listen to..!🇬🇧👍
Love it !!!👍❤️😎
I want this played at my funeral. That’s how much I love this version
Good Idea!! I'm going to steal it😊
I get chills with this version
Bass player and drummer staying in the pocket supporting the lead guitar is what makes this solo very powerful
Michael Hampton shreds, slays, dices, chops, fillets
And a bag of Chips with it
Recorded live at the Monroe Civic Center in my hometown, Monroe, Louisiana! "It Ain't Illegal Yet"!!

I saw it in Atlanta at the Fox Theater. The acoustic in there is perfect, it was awesome

One of the greatest meshing of guitars ever produced and the reason I’ve been plucking riffing licking mine ever since I first heard this track!!!!
Just fantastic 😊❤
It’s fucking criminal this album and this cut of Maggot Brain are exclusive to TIDAL. Who tf subscribed to TIDAL

THANK YOU GEORGE FOR GIVING ME THE FUNK!!!!!!!!
I play lead guitar but Bass and drummers are underrated. I absolutely need them.. kudos to drum and bass players
Best song ever! ❤
This is THE ONE right`chea.
No Question.
I sense an influence of Hendrix's Machine Gun. Love where he says, "Take your time fellas."
?
Yeah
Everything comes from Hendrix. Especially this style of playing.
killer guitar soloing !
Man I wish this was on Spotify
No words for this..... ❤

If you get lost in it, it'll stir your soul.
