    This has been great. I love my iPad Pro (22) for drawing. I never thought about using it as an audio editing tool. Any suggestion on a microphone that pairs well with the iPad? I plan on a solo podcast and record directly into the app.
    You may need to do an upgrade tutorial. Looks like they made many updates. Not many tutorials out there. Thanks again.

      Hey Natalie! I highly recommend this mic on entry level, works great directly into iPad and recording with Ferrite: amzn.to/408mH7d and an upgrade/pro pick: amzn.to/41qiwoo And there was a big update to Ferrite a few months ago, it's great! I've been editing at 2X speed now. Will try to do a follow-up soon!

This will be my first PodCast and I’m taking your advice and going with BuzzSprout Hosting. Can you do a follow up video where you take the Ferrite file and upload it to BuzzSprout, and walk us beginners through the process of BuzzSprout Hosting?

    Wanted to thank you for this video, I’ve got Ferrite Pro, but I want to ask you a special question, hope you could help me please.🙏🏻
    I’ve got my audio ready to import, it’s there a way, I can narrow its time? for example, the total time of the track is 35 seconds, but I need to speed it up to leave it at 30 seconds.
    I really hope you could share me some light with your experience. I’d be very thankful.

    Stephen, I just found this and it is amazing. Not only is it relatively new so it has most of the new features, but it is very detailed. I do have a question. When I am recording different tracks, or import, I find that they are almost always at different levels. It is often just different voices, different distances from the mic, etc. I could have sworn that ferrite has a way to edit this the levels are even on all tracks, but I have not figured that out. Is that the compressor you mentioned in other comments?

    • @beardfm
      @beardfm  11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for watching! When editing a project and viewing all tracks, there’s a “Final Mix” menu. Tap that and turn on auto leveling. That should help! You’ll only hear the difference after exporting a file.

    Thanks. Based on your review I now have Ferrite Pro and just getting used to it. One question: How do you meter your loudness or prepare your final audio file to meet TH-cam (or any other) loudness requirements. I have loudness meters but can’t connect plugins to Ferrite. Do you move your exported Ferrite file to another app that you can meter and set gain or do you just sent to something like Auphonic for loudness settings. Thanks. PS: You voice and audio is just superb.

    • @beardfm
      @beardfm  ปีที่แล้ว

      Congrats on getting Ferrite, and thank you for the kind words 🙏🏻 there is not an exact db meter in Ferrite that I know of. And while it’s not ideal, I use the visual volume bar in the center (master) and the small bars on each track, to set gain and volume. I aim for yellow and hitting red at the loudest parts, and that typically turns out well. You can listen to the AppleInsider podcast as I set those levels manually. For other shows I edit, like Movies on the Side, I actually trust the auto-leveling feature in ferrite and it works well.

    Awesome, Stephen! I‘m a podcast host for some years now (it‘s in German and called „iOS produktiv“ which means, well, „iOS productive“) and we talk about iOS and iPadOS and how it can be used productivly (you guessed it 😂). BUT … my co-host and I produce it almost always on Macs. We use Reaper with the Ultraschall Add-on and afterwards Auphonic for audio optimization. This setup seems to be very common here in Germany - but apparently almost nowhere else?! Now … because we‘re promoting iOS and iPadOS and the use of iPads for almost anything you want to do with a computer we really looked at way to also produce our podcast on/with iPads/iPhones. We know Ferrite for quite a long time now but to be honest … I never found a way to use it adequately. I always found it quite un-intuitive and a bis „strange“ and „different“ compared to „normal“ i[Pad]OS apps. When Ferrite added support for i[Pad]OS compatible multitrack audio hardware we tried again. (Sometimes two channels are not enough, sometimes we have guests). Okay, recording worked on the iPad. But, still, editing … nah …
    But your video, Stephen, really gave me the confidence now to start another attempt! I‘ll try it again! As long as my co-host and I can actually meet in person (if Covid lets us!) we can record directly into the iPad with different setups (like, e.g., the Røde Wireless Go II microphones, as long as we‘re only two speakers). It‘s going to be fun! Thanks again for lowering the bar for me to actually try Ferrite for editing podcasts again! 🤗

    • @StefanWolfrum
      @StefanWolfrum 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Question, though: What do you do if your „incoming“ (= original, imported, raw, recorded) audio files‘ levels are too low? You said that the auto level feature works fine but it only applies at the very end of the editing session, when you finally export everything into one MP3 file, right? But editing with too low levels is no fun / doesn‘t really work. Is there a way of amplifying or normalizing single tracks in Ferrite? Or would you recommend to do that outside of Ferrite? I know about the Volume knobs that each track has but what if it‘s already at its maximum value and the track is still too low in volume? Should we use the „Warm Amplfier“ effect on those tracks? Will that work?

    • @beardfm
      @beardfm  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You’ll want to add a compressor effect to the channel with low volume and turn up the gain. Just be careful as if you leave that cranked high it may distort the final file. Hope that helps!

    Very good tutorial. Is there a way to export the individual audio pieces into separate files after strip silence. I am looking for a way to export long audio files, for example an audio file where I recorded every note from a piano, into individual samples. The whole thing for the iPad.

    • @beardfm
      @beardfm  ปีที่แล้ว

    Quick question! I've been trying to find audio recording options with the ipad. Premiere rush has been extremely finnicky and doesn't reliably record audio when I hit the record button for some reason. However, I ran into ferrite as an option. Do you know if there's an effect option for echo/reverb reduction in the pro or free version? I haven't been able to find that information.
    As a side note to anyone else reading, if you can help me diagnose why premiere rush doesn't record when hitting the record button, that would be great haha.
