I've been wanting to start a podcast for ever. But most videos over complicate things leaving me even more confused. This video helped so much. I would love a video that gets more into the weeds of uploading music for the podcast.
After trying to learn how to edit audio on garageband on and off for over a year now, this has truly been the most informative and truly helpful tutorial. Thank you!!!
This is by far the best tutorial i have seen. I am just starting my podcast, and there are so many costs connected to recording, editing, hosting, so it is really nice to see that i can just use GB on my Mac.
So glad to know you find this video helpful. Thanks for checking in! In case you have other podcasting questions, please don't hesitate to reach out. 😊 Happy podcasting!
I followed your instructions and completed my 1st rough-draft podcast! Thank you, thank you! A lot of fun! (I was able to add sound and music with Epidemic)
Thank you more than you will ever know! I could follow your video, in fact, I could pause and set up my template as you went along. This is the bestest of the best I've found online. I raise my cuppa in your honor!!
Finally a good video!! I've watched some videos about using GarageBand and always ended up frustrated. With this video I learned more than I was looking for (which is GREAT) and also made me interested in other videos. For sure I'll be able to save lots of time and have better podcasts. Thanks BuzzSprout!!!
Your video tutorials are the best! So far I’ve watched Hindenburg and garage band. About to see if there’s one on Audacity. It’s overwhelming because I’m not techy at all! My question is, I’m GarageBand, how do you record someone remote? Do they just use their computer microphone? This is mostly what I’m going to be doing in my podcast
So glad you’re finding the video tutorials helpful, Amanda! Recording remote interviews in GarageBand can be tricky as it lacks a built-in feature. But, you can use apps like Zoom, Squadcast, or Riverside to record the interview & import the audio file into GarageBand for editing. As for the microphone, your guest can indeed use their computer microphone. However, for better audio quality, it might be worth investing in an external microphone. I hope that helps! 😊
Hi Travis - thank you so much my friend. The "Delete and Move" was exactly what I was looking for. And I set up the shortcut keys too to make it easier. I use FCPX for my video editing and I almost think you can't edit efficiently unless you use keyboard short cuts. Again - short, succinct, and simple video showing the basics of GB. All the very best, Cheers Rick
I have been doing my podcast for about two months and I’m 6 episodes in and the one thing that’s been a struggle for me is balancing my music and my voice!!! Thanks for an explanation on this! The It’s Just...Tait podcast appreciates it.
Your very clear, brief podcast instructions made such a difference to me regarding the nightmare that has been my podcasting for years! I have never been able to find or depend upon anything anyone has ever told me before. It actually makes me very sad that I did not find you a long long time ago. Thank you very much. I’m going to try and go back and listen to each and everyone you’ve ever created as I sit here. I realize I am remembering most of what you said to do in order to produce simple but effective Podcasts. I have one question: I noticed that in a few places where I have my Podcasts, not all episodes play. What am I doing wrong in presenting the information that would skip episodes. Thank you for any answer. So excited to begin again! Eve Sanchez Silver from Our Native Life Podcast
This was amazing thank you so much! I was so scared of garage band that I've been recording in the voice notes app on my phone! Now that I know how to use it I'm actually having a lot of fun with it!
Thank you for the kind words, Belinda! Let us know if you have any questions and maybe we could make another video that gets a bit more into the weeds.
This video helped me so much! It is super clear and very easy to follow even if you are a complete beginner like me! :) It was my very first time cutting a podcast and I couldn't have done it without this tutorial! Thank you so much!
Unfortunately, GarageBand doesn't support chapter marks (or markers). If you host your podcast with Buzzsprout, you can add chapter markers after you upload your episode
Thank you for this. Learning to work this always goes best when shown by someone who knows their stuff and doesn't complicate things. I can start recording! Great adventures ...
Thank you so much for providing this walk-through tutorial!! It was really really helpful as I've just started my own podcast! Looking forward to watching the upcoming tutorials :)
That's awesome, thankyou. Perfect pacing covering everything I need for now (except importing which I'll look up next) while avoiding the information overload that can occur when people know a subject really well. Thanks. I'll be subscribing and using your videos as I learn Garage Band.
guys wht an awesome job in this video... and the channel. Just starting my podcast, still figuring out how does tht works, and the channel has being my north guide. Keep it up!
Very helpful. Thank you. My questions are how did you add the music and may be add how you structure the podcast episode step by step. Greatly appreciated.
Do you have a video where you explain how to add compression to individual tracks to beef up the voices a bit? This used to be very easy on the older versions of GB but on the more recent versions, I can't figure this out...
What is your recommendation for recording an interview style podcast, given social distancing? Assume 2 people in different homes. I have: 2 x ATR2100x & 1 2i2. Do you have a phone call between the two with hidden AirPods each to hear one another, but then record each person’s voice via mic into garage band? Curious as to your ideas. Thanks!
This is great! I do have a question- if I am interviewing someone over Zoom, and a get separate tracks to capture the audio from the speaker, how would I upload that track into GarageBand? Thanks!
For this example, it was a 2 person/2 microphone interview that had been edited in a separate GarageBand project. If we brought all of the edits into one project it would have looked absolutely insane! haha
I loved this video. Extremely helpful and easy to follow. Could you include a section on how to do a crossfade? Or is that the same thing as using the automation tool?
I couldn't quite get the yellow dots on the volume line to go where I wanted them. I just couldn't seem to figure out how to make several dots. Not quite sure how to explain it but if you could go through that again step by step a little slower to help me figure out how you actually were able to do that with the yellow volume line I would be so grateful. Thank you for this great video. I too have looked through so many videos and yours is the only one I found so far that I was able to follow for the most part understand what you were doing. Thank you so much
Great video! Thanks! I'm trying to export to disk but I don't see the WAV option. The only available options are AAC, MP3, AIFF. Do I have to change settings? Thanks.
Thanks Travis! I have a question: how do you get from step 1 to step 2... the first part to the editing. I have the focusrite and audiotechnica mics and set it up like you described, but how did you get to the part where you split it into the "intro", "theme song", "interview" etc...?? If anyone else has an answer let me know!
Create a new track for every audio clip (either by right clicking in the left column or by clicking the tab along the top of your screen), then drag and drop the audio files from your computer. We find it helpful to have a Finder window open next to or on top of GarageBand, then just drag and drop!
can you show where/how to change the 'system settings' on garage band for the 'split at playhead tool' that you mentioned, for the short cut 'Delete and Move' .Where is it?
1. Go to your System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > App Shortcuts 2. Click the "+" sign to add a new shortcut 3. Choose GarageBand from the Applications dropdown 4. Create your keyboard shortcut
This is really helpful! Thank you. One frustration I am facing with GB, that I don't face with iMovie because it is more apparent and simpler, is how to quickly edit the sound quality of the interview tracks (like quickly reducing background noise without having to play around with settings). Is there a simple fast way to do this?
Question. I record interviews on Cleanfeed using the Stereo Split feature that records my audio on the Left side of the track and my guest on the Right side. In Adobe Audition, I am able to mute and edit either side separately. I have imported an interview with these features to Garageband and is shows both the left and right wave recordings on one track. Is there a way to isolate each recording and edit them separately? I haven't figured out how to do this.
OK, this is the most helpful video I’ve seen, and believe me, I’ve looked through a bunch!
Thanks, Buzzsprout
That means a lot! We're glad it helped you out

I've been wanting to start a podcast for ever. But most videos over complicate things leaving me even more confused. This video helped so much. I would love a video that gets more into the weeds of uploading music for the podcast.

Thank you! Excellent!!

Where did you click in order to switch from mic 1 into mic 2 and viceversa? Cuz it wasn't highlited on the left, that's why. Thank you!
Excellent presentation. Like Mr Utterback, looked, listened, lost the will to live then found Buzzsprout. Well done and thank you.

Awesome video!!!! Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
Glad you enjoyed it!
This was such a great tutorial! Simple and to the point but super helpful!
This is so helpful! Did you save your two person interview track as one track then import it as a single track when editing all together? Thanks.
Thank you for making such an amazing video! I was diving in head first not knowing anything. Now at least I can get started and practice editing.
Very helpful. Thank you. My questions are how did you add the music and may be add how you structure the podcast episode step by step. Greatly appreciated.
Great information that's clear and easy to follow!

I was wondering this too.
You just drag and drop the audio track into garage band track list.
Very helpful video. I was able to edit my track and do post-production in auphonic.
🔥🙌🔥
beautiful, can't wait to launch! im so grateful

@@Buzzsprout Thanks for answering my question!

The best way to crossfade in GarageBand is with the automation tool
I’m just clicking around learning. All of this is so much easier in Reaper, which I highly recommend.
This was super helpful!

To create a yellow dot, your mouse cursor needs to be directly on top of the yellow line.
Then use a left click to create the dot.
Great video! Thanks! I'm trying to export to disk but I don't see the WAV option. The only available options are AAC, MP3, AIFF. Do I have to change settings? Thanks.
Make sure you have the most up-to-date version of GarageBand. If you do and WAV still isn't showing up, export as the highest quality MP3 that you can
wow. so perfectly done!! succinct + super helpful - every tip you need to know to get started in Garage Band~
Awesome! Glad it helps a lot. Thanks for checking in Coach Deb!😃

can you show where/how to change the 'system settings' on garage band for the 'split at playhead tool' that you mentioned, for the short cut 'Delete and Move' .Where is it?
System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > App Shortcuts > "+"
dude this is mind blowing and such a huge help. Thank you sir.
Thanks for finding it helpful! If you have other questions/concerns, feel free to reach us at support. 😊
Great video. I am uploading mp3 files from Zencastr to Garageband, but they sound distorted. Do you know the fix for that? Thank you,
Listen to the mp3 files on your computer to make sure they sound good after being downloaded from Zencastr. You may not be getting a solid download
hey the short cut you created for the Delete and Move, how do you make that shortcut
1. Go to your System Preferences > Keyboard > Shortcuts > App Shortcuts
2. Click the "+" sign to add a new shortcut
3. Choose GarageBand from the Applications dropdown
4. Create your keyboard shortcut
So helpful! Thank you for such a great video! Buzzsprout rules.
Thanks for checking in, Ace! 😁👍
Really good tutorial, easy and straight to the point, just what I needed it!
Hello, i am stuck on the 2 people podcasting, i don't have inout 2 and both recording buttons are not flashing, what should i do?
