Same reason some us prefer not be totally sober in social situations: we don’t like ourselves much. Always easier to wear a mask or let the alcohol/drug/etc talk than to be ourselves. 🤷🏻♀️
@@woopdee77Yeah, we see that Carmy has not only self-destructive issues, but self-loathing issues as well. I’m interested to see how the character will grow.
To the guy on the right (sorry, forgot your name): Speaking on Tina going out & singing at the karaoke bar, it was directly contrasted with Carmy being at the party with Claire, so much so, that we, the audience, almost think that Tina & Carmy are at the same event. Tina, AFTER finishing her work at culinary school, goes out to have fun with classmates. Carmy, however, AVOIDS working with Sydney on the menu to hang out with Claire, despite already having made plans with Claire later that day. Tina has a GREAT work-life balance, Carmy does NOT. That’s what those scenes are showing us.
Eric is absolutely 100% right about how the show deliberately doesn't hold your hand. Not everything needs to be bookended. Tina's scene works so well because it WASN'T set up. It didn't need a scene where Tina told everyone, "she doesn't sing." Instead we see it, we experience it. We fill in the gaps. Like everything in the show we don't quite know where its going, if its going to end well or in disaster. And if this scene had been set up earlier in the show, then when she enters the bar we kinda instantly know whats going to happen next. Instead, I remember watching this scene with a bit of dread and apprehension. And then she started singing...and everyone loves it, and we get it. The scene was perfect.
I love seeing Tina make a change and grown. From calling everyone "jeff" instead of 'chef" as a stubborn act of rebelliousness at the beginning to where she is now. Fantastic character development.
Fak told Carmy that he was waiting for Richie on the roof, meaning he was going to help Richie steal power, but then Richie got caught by Syd and Sugar. That’s why he was dressed in black
It's because that same phrase was in Chef Luca's kitchen in Denmark. I like that it stayed with him, should make the rest of the season even more satisfying to watch
Another chaotic masterpiece. Perfect portrayal of dysfunctional and bipolar syndrome. And what Carmen grew up with. And why he tries SOOOO HARD to hold everything inside, just so he doesn’t blow up. He doesn’t trust himself
It’s a little unclear because of wordplay the creators use, but “Chaos Menu” is a thing, a menu format in the exact opposite of an omakase menu unified by theme, where the meal as a total is meant to present dishes w/ no relationship to one another
It’s crazy, bc the first time I watched epi 6 I hated it!! It just stressed me out too much lol… but now it’s my favorite episode to watch people react to
Carmy and Claire might just well be the most realistic romantic interaction I've ever seen on TV. The subtlety in expressions, the hesitations, that simultaneous comfortable/uncomfortable thing that somehow add up to completely understanding they're probably going to be a thing from minute 1 and I am here for it.
I had the exact same reaction as Aaron when Carmy asked Claire if she wanted to see the restaurant 10:04. Like come on Carmy just take a second and think about it. I love Claire as a character and think she's good for Carmy, he's just not the best at communicating with people.
I truly truly do not understand the Claire hate. (Actually I do, people are just never honest about why). People say her addition to show is unnecessary but it really HIGHLIGHTS so many problems that Carmy has in the first season. I genuinely love their interactions on screen knowing full well it’s not gonna end good.
@@karenroque3583 I don't hate Claire because she hasn't done anything wrong really. Carmy is the one that needs to tell her that he can't always hang out and tell her about his commitments and I doubt she wouldn't respect them. I also think it has to to with the fact that Sydney and Carmy has a connection that is different they just get each other. The writers are going to have to decide if they are going to go with Sydney and Carmy or Clarire and Carmy or perhaps somebody else.
If you are one of those people who is watching The Bear for the first time through these reactions, then prepare yourself, because from this point on, what remains of the season will be the bomb, one of the best seasons in recent years.
24:51 Ohh yeah we cannot wait for the next couple of episodes but that is not to know Aaron pop count, its because the next two episodes may be one the best tv eps ever!
Late to watching this but wanted to say the next 2 episodes are phenomenal tv. My advice before watching “Fishes”? Take headache medicine before. You’re welcome.
Whew! Fishes and Forks up next... Other than that, am I the only one who thinks Claire just fell for all of Carmy's excuses? I get she liked him for so long, but why she chased him even when she knew he wasn't that into her smh...
I'm gonna be so real with you guys, I'm going to hold off on watching next week until 2x7 is also out. There's no way in hell I'm watching Fishes again without being able to follow it up immediately with Forks.
It is absolutely impossible to not fall in love with Claire. You can put up the strongest mental and emotional defenses you have against her, and she’ll tear them down with her that look, that smile, and her wit.
I think it is fair to both indict the show for writing an arguably tropey love interest AND appreciate how useful her character is as a foil for Carmey
21:11 They don’t need to spell it out that much because the shows not for children lol by saying you would’ve liked that scene shows that you already know what they were doing without it. I feel like anytime a show requires any sort of thought beyond surface level, it’s a problem for Aaron😂

Genuinely the two best episodes of television I’ve ever seen.
*spoilers*
If you notice carmi is talking at the party as if he was Michael in ep 6
I so cannot wait until Fishes
So true, holy crap what a roller coaster they're about to go on 😆😆
I do find it interesting that Carmy can socialise easier when he's not being himself (being Logan or whatever)
