My thing is that they literally had this problem last season where Sydney felt like carmy left her hanging when he made her the sous and it just looks like he didint learn anything
The only thing he learned is he can’t really function professionally without her. He is the one who asked her to open a restaurant. That look he gave her, said he knew she was the only one who could make it happen for him.
I totally agree with you rob on carmy needs to prioritise his time and stop making broken promises to Sydney about helping her also I cannot wait to see your reaction to the next episode
I dont think Carmy has ever been in a relationship really, and he has no clue how to balance his priorities, particularly when one priority brings him immediate happiness and the other is a stressful, panic-inducing endeavor. Also, with Claire being a resident in Chicago, i wonder why she isnt at the hospital more! If Carmen just works a set time for the day, and gets his stuff done instead of skipping off with Claire in the afternoon, he'd be better off. And Syndney has a short fuse anyway, so we know she's going to freak out if this keeps happening.

Sydney’s just like me but actually better, because if you had put us on a deadline, not only to pay $700,000 back, but also make a profit in 18 months and then you started shirking your work off in favour of a relationship? I would be pissed as hell. Like Natalie and Sydney have been spearheading this whole operation when Carmen is the one who actually fucked them over by putting them on said deadline and not showing up. He doesn’t communicate, he doesn’t call or text and then he says he’s just gonna go to send something off in the mail and disappears for the whole day only to come back and kick people out when they’re trying to fix up the restaurant. If Carmen was able to balance his personal life and his work life it would be something completely different, but he can’t and he also unfortunately picked the worst time possible to start his FIRST relationship
I’ve honestly been getting weird vibes off Claire since they first met and how she remembers such small insignificant details about Carmy. I think she might either be obsessed or might’ve had a crush on him in school and stalked him or smth. Them meeting back up and suddenly reconnecting seems way too convenient for me.
I think claire's character does a great job at showing some of carmy's flaws and without spoiling anything I'll say that by the end of the season that becomes really clear.
Awe Zuff is so optimistic. Carmy needs to work so much more on himself! Trust me, I’ve been in love with a Carmy for 5 years lol. Claire is a great girl, I also love him and Syd... he needs to work on himself. You’ll see next episode!
I think it's really weird Claire is an emergency room resident and she has all this free time. Like, IRL she'd be busier than Carmy. Oh well, I guess the writers just needed her to write Carmy's arc this season.
Plus, her energy and personality seem inconsistent with her work environment. I know people that work in the emergency room and it's such a particular scene, that you can tell how it suits them right away or understand how they manage it. The fact that Claire had a phone scene where everything was calm, *she* was very quiet, and even less energetic and charismatic than a nurse would need to be to remain in control in an emergency room. It makes it hard to believe she's an emergency medicine doctor.

The writers are wonderful but among so many characters with so many facets, emotions Claire is like "perfect" does not make sense in the show that way, in the next season she should not come out or they should give it more development because for now it is only something to support Carmy's arc, she has no life outside.
I find it interesting that Carmen wasn’t happy that he wasn’t called about a problem. Previous episode when Sydney said the same thing, some of the audience said she was being unreasonable. He also ditched her again. (Which I initially didn’t notice. That you everyone for pointing it out.) Why was Carmen shocked that when he asked everyone to leave, Sydney was the first to go? It’s like he expects her to be more dedicated then he is.
The way I screeched when the girl who played Sahar showed up. Sis was so annoying in Abbott Elementary that I had a visceral reaction. Anyway, Carmy needs to get his head in the game. I mean, everyone else is stepping out of their comfort zone for the sake of speedrunning the opening. I ain't mad at him or even Claire tbh...it's just the worst timing to be flaking. Especially since he, Sydney, and Nat unanimously decided to map it out.
I think Carmie and Claire could be good together, but the timing is incredibly poor and Carmie is a very poor communicator. I kept thinking, "Carmie, she's a resident. She'll understand being pressed for time in a very demanding field." If he was better and more confident in his communication skills outside the kitchen, and had his demons under control (maybe some clinical therapy and some medication, hmmm?), he could tell her, "hey I think you're great, but I genuinely have zero free time right now. I would love for you to come to opening night, but until then I have to push 200% getting this restaurant open and cranking. If you agree, let's plan to pick this up again in say 3ish months. I'm sure you don't have a lot of free time either right now."
The only thing I didn’t like about the Claire story is how unbelievably perfect and kind of one-note ‘good’ she is. Not the most fleshed out character. That said, I suppose one could argue we’re seeing her the way Camry sees her- with rose colored glasses- angelic and loving and perfect. But all of the other characters appear to immed love her so…. Just wanted to see a more realistic romantic partner for Camry who’s as multifaceted as Syd and Tina and Sugar, etc.

Because Pete is literally the male version of Claire, he’s also the perfect kind/good, two freaking seasons and we still do NOT what Peter does for a living, he’s literally the male version of Claire, who just like her seems to have the time when they conveniently needed him so what’s the issue here? And if the writers had taken any more time on her character development, those same people would've undoubtedly been complaining that her character took time away from the regulars. She just can't win. Just because someone is nice doesn't mean they are one-note; we barely know Claire. We don't about her personal experiences or her own family backstory. I think they did a great job of introducing her character and giving her enough of a history with Carmy to make it realistic enough for the audience to grasp that they've had feelings for each that were dormant until they reconnected. And that their shared history allowed Carmy to give in because she wasn't someone that was a complete stranger whom he'd have to slowly get to know.

Everyone's bragging about Claire & Carm with this secret history they have that we don't see. Claire needed more screen time on her own. Plus Carm's with her when we know he is neglecting his job with Sugar and Sydney.
He’s totally not balancing personal and work life. Also feel like Sugar and Sydney are the ones that will feel it more if he doesn’t answer his phone. More Sydney since she wouldn’t want to fail at a business and all those chefs workings about business partners.
Camy has zero experience with relationships. He has never had a girlfriend. He is overwhelmed by her and has NO idea what he's doing. He's also a workaholic. It's hard to balance personal and work for many people and it's harder for him. Also ... the man never has fun. He doesn't know how to balance any of this.
Love and hate with Carmy throughout the whole season but I've been in the same position as him 😭 Meeting a love interest at the wrong time. But also you got to keep in mind that Carmy is socially awkward in his early days and experiencing a tough time trying to process the loss of his brother and such. I just love the writing this season. I can't wait for you guys' reaction to episode 6! 😂 Especially Rob's reaction.
I think if you keep in mind that carmy is still severely traumatized and maladjusted and has only just barely scratched the surface of his healing process and personal growth, then his distraction and his relationship with claire and the balls he drops all make a lot more sense. it doesn't excuse the hurt he causes, but it explains his headspace. I've definitely been where he is and I understand his lack of focus and clarity and difficulty with prioritization. claire also very much represents his past and therefore his trauma for a lot of reasons, not the least of which is that both mikey and richie tried pressuring him into dating claire when he was clearly uncomfortable with the prospect. I think part of him is choosing claire because he thinks that's what mikey would want for him. trauma does a lot of screwy things with your brain

carmen is half-assing everything, i love him but i cannot with him here 😭 like sir, you've told sydney that you will come back and help with the napkins and stuff, but instead you went to relive the highschool life you never had bc you were shy, then you come back to YOUR restaurant and instead of caring about the situation there you just send everyone home so you could hang out with your date some more, be FR now 😩

I love that you guys were so off of the romance aspect lol I thought the romance was great then watched with my boyfriend and he helped me see the more realistic aspect of him failing to manage his time but I looked at it through rose colored lenses just like carmy at first so I see how it can happen. really realistic

Ebenezer Scrooge becomes curmudgeon who, when looking back, regrets letting the love of his life go (amongst other things). She noticed he had gotten too obsessed with his work and accumulating wealth. Meanwhile, she didn't care about money; she ultimately ends up marrying another man and they go on to have children and live happily despite not being rich. Sure, Ebenezer goes on to become successful and wealthy, but he's also alone and bitter. Anyway, love should absolutely not be something put on the side or backburner. It can absolutely be scary to enter into a relationship and to let yourself fall in love. I'm glad Carmy gave it shot with Claire and didn't just let the opportunity of love pass him by. All Carmy needed to do was communicate with Claire that he needed this time to focus on the opening of the restaurant. She would've understood and I doubt she would've had any issue with that. That way he could've made sure he was more present before the opening. Instead, he winds up feeling guilty because he dropped the ball on several occasions and then goes on to ruin things with Claire.
I think Claire's suffering from a very common syndrome in modern TV, Skylar White syndrome. She's a woman who gets in the way of their favourite male protagonist doing his thing, whether it's a good thing he's doing or not. Claire just comes across as a real person who has behaved very normally (some people seem to find it hard to believe that there are both successful and nice women out there?), but it's a distraction from what people want the main character to be doing, so they go over the top with hate for her. Personally, I could've done without a romance story for Carmy, but we'll see if it goes further and how the story evolves, she's not exactly had a lot of screen time so it feels so harsh to be so brutal and use the word hate, which honestly baffles me.
I agree. It's the writers fault for making us hate her though because she has no development or backstory other than being claire bear and a part of Carmy's past. Unless this is exactly how the writers want us to see her as an irritant and distraction. Everytime they had a scene, it was in the middle of something important for Carmy and the others, I think that was intentional.

Taking a few hours off for one night in 3 months is good. He even then still ended up at the restaurant that night. A step away actually can help the brain. Relax, he’s not slacking.
love is a great tonic' and Carmy has never experienced it never been to a party. He has dedicated his life to his career. In the party he compliments Claire and she says I know drunk and sad from college days. Carmy says I know too - we know that's Mum maybe Dad. Claire says I know. She is into this guy knows his background - Claire says ED is totally unchilled. Carmy needs this calm softly spoken - she whispers a lot- person in his life. THIS IS EARLY DAYS AND THERE ARE MORE STRUGGLES COMING. Carmy needs Clair.
Call me crazy but seeing a obviously depressed guy take a few hours off to try and experience happiness isn't the worst decision to make. I actually really liked seeing Carmy have a good time, possibly the first time we see him genuinely happy in this entire series so far...

I agree. It's the writers fault for making us hate her though because she has no development or backstory other than being claire bear and a part of Carmy's past. Unless this is exactly how the writers want us to see her as an irritant and distraction. Everytime they had a scene, it was in the middle of something important for Carmy and the others, I think that was intentional.
I don't see that many people hating on Claire. I see more people disappointed at Carmy.

@@TheKawaiikariit's hard to give development and back story to someone who has appeared in only like 2 episodes so far while balancing all the main cast. We literally just had a Marcus episode and he was with us for a whole season and a half
a total misuse of the term, skylar and many flawed hated female characters at least had personality! but the writers of this season gave claire none.

love is a great tonic' and Carmy has never experienced it never been to a party. He has dedicated his life to his career. In the party he compliments Claire and she says I know drunk and sad from college days. Carmy says I know too - we know that's Mum maybe Dad. Claire says I know. She is into this guy knows his background - Claire says ED is totally unchilled. Carmy needs this calm softly spoken - she whispers a lot- person in his life. THIS IS EARLY DAYS AND THERE ARE MORE STRUGGLES COMING. Carmy needs Clair.

Call me crazy but seeing a obviously depressed guy take a few hours off to try and experience happiness isn't the worst decision to make. I actually really liked seeing Carmy have a good time, possibly the first time we see him genuinely happy in this entire series so far...
Zac sees it, sydney likes carmy, in fact they like each other if you look at certain scenes you'd see. They're def a slow burner.
Gotta say I absolutely hate Claire and totally root for Sydney but lord is episode six so so amazing the acting is impeccable
